Chapter 5:

Eileen POV

It was dark when I woke up and everything seemed quite, saved for the mosquitoes whom apparently covered the whole environment. I tried getting up from the cold floor, where I laid down, but a sharp pain at my back forced me down.

The pain immediately pulled memories of the embarrassment I had faced at the celebration and it appeared I had passed out during the lashing. I rolled myself to lay on my back and although it was daunting, due to the injuries, I still succeeded.

I didn't want to imagine what my back would look like at this very period of time. I knew the bruises most likely had increased and the internal injuries I had would be second to none.

I tried to hold it back, but the tears couldn't stop coming down. All this embarrassment because the moon goddess chose Dan to be my mate. I never chose my destiny and while one part of me was angry at the pack members for being wicked for no reason, another was directed once again to my father for even thinking of killing the Alpha.

I had grown up with the story that my father murdered Alpha StormCrest on a visit to another pack and he ran away. I never got to see what he looked like, neither did I got to see what my mother looked like as the story proclaimed that she had died, while giving birth to me.

My thoughts would be caught short by voices approaching this cell, I didn't have the strength to stand up, when I saw the soldiers standing at the cage.

"You are a huge mess!" One of the pack soldier mentioned as he pulled out the keys and opened the cage. Suddenly Evelyn spawned out of their midst and into the cage with the pack doctor.

"The only reason I chose to do this is because you are my mate Evelyn." I heard the pack soldier mentioned as Evelyn hugged him. When she got to me, Evelyn was burst out in tears and higged me tightly. I needed that care, that warmth from someone and I was glad Evelyn would show up.

"This was all my fault Elleen , I should have listened to you, when you said you didn't want to go. You wouldn't have been involved in this mess." I hissed as the pack doctor applied ointment to my back, after I had been helped to get up.

"It's not your fault Evelyn. If I hadn't gone for the ceremony, I wouldn't have known that Dan was my mate." It was definitely not Evelyn's fault for how it had played out in the end.

"I have never seen someone as wicked as Dan . How can he reject you and then turn around to embarrass you like that." I smiled, relating to her thought. My hopes were never high, when I discovered Alpha Adler was my mate and when he rejected me, it was not a surprise.

"The wounds had cut deep through her skin, but her wolf has been a huge importance to her healing. She would be fine." The Pack doctor explained.

I watched as he grabbed his kit, after Evelyn had showed him appreciation and left the dungeon. Once he was gone, Evelyn turned around to look at me. "I have to get you out of here."

"You can't do that Evelyn. It's like signing a death warrant!" I replied staring at the pack soldier at the front of the dungeon.

"You don't have to worry about Edward, he is my mate and I have begged him for this favour and he is willing to help." It was too risky to escape with Evelyn. I didn't want to get her into trouble, but seeing the look of determination on Evelyn's face, there was nothing I could do.

"Quick we have no time." She said holding my hands and helping me up. The pain was still there, but it wasn't as excruciating as I had felt when I woke up. Slowly Evelyn moved me out of the dungeon till we got past Edwards.

"Listen Eve, I need you to get her to our house and before sunrise, you have to stick to the plan." Edwards instructed looking at me with such pity on his face.

"You don't have to worry about anything, just play your part of the script." Evelyn replied and we began moved out, whole Edwards left the dungeon opened. Whatever plans they had, I could only hope it worked out.

Evelyn helped me, as we made it through another route and found our way out of the pack mansion. I didn't care where she was leading me to, I just wanted to be away from the pack mansion or any of the officials.

We arrived at a hut and although it was relatively small, I knew it belonged to Edwards; Evelyn 's mate. "You should be safe around here till sunrise." Evelyn lit up the fire, giving the room a good view and it was apparent that my speculation wete true; it was certainly Edwards 's room.

"You have to rest tonight and before the sun rises tomorrow, you should be on your way out of the pack." Evelyn stated, handing me a cup of water.

"What about you? Alpha Dan would certainly want to make sure that you never see the light of the day if he finds out you are behind this." Evelyn smiled and held up my hand.

"Listen Elleen , you will have to understand that I am doing this because I figured you have gone through a lot. I would do anything to see you free again and that is why it is important you leave Wild Hunt Pack. I know the roads would be rough, but it's better than staying here." Evelyn had a point and while I may have not left the pack since my birth, I believed it was important I flee for my life.

"The pack soldiers would be patrolling this night and will leave their duty by sunrise, that's when you will leave." Evelyn revealed grabbing the empty cup from my hands and attempting to move to the other room.

"Evelyn?" I called her to a halt. "Thank you very much for everything, I will never forget."
