Chapter 4:
Eileen Fisher's POV
As he fell down, I could see the person who threw the aze. He was a muscular and handsome young man who I had not seen before. The remaining men ran away instantly.
Slowly, he walked towards me and helped me up. I was so scared and weak and when he tried to hug me, I accepted. I crashed into his muscular chest and sobbed.
From Charlotte's betrayal to the rejection and to the attempted rape of my assassins. I thought about everything and it made me cry more.
“It's okay,” he comforted. He had a cool, masculine voice which was really enviable. I loved the sound.
I didn't know now but later. This would be a twist that would change my life.
_______________
Surprises, yeah!
I never knew I would be having so many surprises in the next few days. After the incident at the forest, the young man introduced himself as Tristan. Through him, I found out that I was in a different pack entirely.
There, he requested for my story and I told him the truth without omitting a single detail. I know I shouldn't have done this since he was a stranger but he actually made me trust him.
“I will take you to my mansion. There, you can leave and begin a new life,” Tristan told me after I had narrated my story.
I didn't know his status but hearing him call his house a mansion made me understand that he would be in a high status. He sounded quite knowledgeable and I thought he was a noble. We left the forest hours later and I was quick to notice that he had a golden bow for hunting. Only Alphas and rich nobles had this golden bow.
It made my heart skip.
The kind of aura which he also exuded was almost questionable. It was quite suspicious to see how he blended in every situation.
It didn't take much time before I began to realize that we were connected. The mate bond drew me closer to him and instantly, I knew that he was my second-chance mate. I kept this to myself and safeguarded my feelings.
If there was something I would ask here, it was to read his mind. I wanted to know if he also knew that we shared a bond. I didn't want the feeling to be one-sided. Apart from the mate bond, I was attracted to his physical features.
Tristan was slim, tall, and muscular. He looked athletic and tough. He didn't look like a weakling at all and from his previous heroics, he was strong enough to protect me. To cap it all, Tristan was handsome and cute at the same time.
Sincerely, I had never seen a man as handsome as Tristan. With my level of exposure, his handsomeness was on top level. His smile was captivating enough to let you fall in love with him.
Tristan was also blessed with a good heart. He acted so humble, kind, and loving. I was sure he was lovable as well.
All in all, I had fallen in love with Tristan. I couldn't help this at all. It was stronger than what I have felt for any other person in the past.
I had all of these in mind when we got to a major turning point. I could see some armed soldiers waiting there. This got me scared and I thought they were there to arrest me. Tristan was cool about this and I followed him. I held his clothe in fear as we walked.
“Greetings, Alpha Tristan!” I heard all of them greet as we approached them. They were on their knees.
I didn't know how my hand slipped off from Tristan's clothe. I was shocked to hear this. My crush was an Alpha.
I couldn't talk for some time. Tristan noticed this and turned to me. Now, his presence was intimidating. I was scared that the person I had been relating with so far was an Alpha.
“Are you okay?” Tristan asked me slowly. He had a relaxing smile on his face.
“I am fine, Tri… Alpha Tristan,” I replied. I was so shocked here and I had to relate to this fact.
I didn't know that I was set up for more surprises on the way.
Well, it's well.

Tristan took me to his mansion with his guards and there, I found out what he meant by mansion. It dawned on me that Alpha Dan was really poor. From the look of the mansion, extravagance glared. I couldn't help but stare in awe.
From the look of things, Tristan regarded me very highly and his servants did the same. I had never been respected this much in my life. I was given a spacious room in the mansion where I could do all what I wanted. I had maids and guards assigned to me. The guards were so disciplined with their tasks. This made me feel quite special.
But this was only a tip of the iceberg.

I was rummaging through a book when Tristan approached me. This was days after I began to live in his mansion.
“How are you doing?” He asked and sat beside me. I smiled at him.
“I am doing very well, Alpha Tristan,” I told him slowly. I had learnt to call him ‘Alpha’.
“I wanted to talk to you about us,” Alpha Tristan started off. “I don't know if you know this already but we share a bond. If you don't mind, I would like us to…”
“Stop!” I told him firmly. This was getting too much for me to process. I needed a break right away.
“I am sorry,” Alpha Tristan apologized. “I know this could be insensitive and selfish of me but I have to do it. I understand that you are recovering from an emotional breakdown but I want you to entrust your heart to me. I won't break your heart, I promise!”
“I actually believe you!” I told him carefully. “However, it's too much for me to bear. I never expected this and I want you to give me time.”
Alpha Tristan nodded. He stood and he was about to leave when I had a change of mind. I didn't want to play hard to get and from what I had noticed so far, he truly loved me. I also had feelings for him and it was only proper to strike the iron when it was hot.
“Wait!” I called.
Alpha Tristan turned back slowly.
“Don't make a hasty decision!” Alpha Tristan told me as if he knew I was about to give him a reply. “I love you and I am ready to wait for you no matter how long it takes. Like I said earlier, take your time!”
I smiled at his thoughtfulness.
He turned to leave but this time, my mind was fully made up. I held him back and looked into his eyes.
“I agree!” I told him firmly. “I will be your mate, Alpha Tristan, forever!”
He smiled.
He held me in his arms tightly as we hugged. I loved his smell. It made me remember our first meeting at the forest. He also hugged me on that day.
“I love you, Eileen,” he told me slowly.
“I love you too,” I replied.

Things went on very fast after this incident and we chose the date for our mating ceremony.
Prior to this date, an intruder snuck into my room.
I woke up to find out that a masked man was over me with his knife on my neck.
“Who are you?” I asked fearfully.
“I am the man from your past!” He replied confidently.
I shivered.
