Chapter 2:

Eileen Fisher's POV

For fifteen seconds, I stood dumbfounded. I was like a living dead. I couldn't talk or place this feeling. This was the height and depth of betrayal. If someone would do this to me, I wasn't expecting Charlotte.

Now, I knew why Alpha Dan hated me so much. I had shared a lot of things with Charlotte and it was obvious that she had been telling Alpha Dan all the bad things I said about him.

It pained me so much because I was supposed to be discussing my escape plans with Charlotte. I had been stabbed in the back and it left a deep wound.

I knew Alpha Dan could have forced her but it didn't look like that. If she had a bit of conscience, she would feel sorry and apologize to me.

Instead, Charlotte was cuddling and giggling with Alpha Dan. I couldn't bear this any longer. I had to speak out.

“What!” I cried. “Is this what you do behind me? I can't believe you can do this to me, Charlotte! I trusted you but you just failed me!”

“Who is the fool making so much noise there?” Charlotte sat up on the bed. I could see her naked boobs. I was right when I said they were naked. Charlotte reached for her robe and put it on. Now, she stood up and walked to me.

Alpha Dan was looking at both of us. He seemed to enjoying himself.

“You betrayed me, Charlotte!” I shouted. “I still find it hard to believe. I helped your life, Charlotte. I brought you into this mansion with my authority and this is how you can pay me back!”

“I think it will be better if you keep shut and walk out of this room!” Charlotte shouted at me. She seemed to have no regard for me now.

“You don't feel sorry for what you did?” I asked. Tears were flowing freely out of my eyes here.

“I don't think you should be crying. If you consider all what you have told me about Alpha Dan, you should have no affection for him. Why do you keep stressing yourself over a man that don't love you?” Charlotte asked me slowly.

“Who told you that Alpha Dan doesn't love me?” I asked her solemnly. I had to exchange words with her.

“You are pretentious and I hate this!” Charlotte shouted at me. “I will say this now and never again. Get out of this room!”

I could do nothing but heed.

My mate cheated with me and my best friend betrayed me. Now I knew that I could trust no one. This was hurtful and it changed my life.

In the next few days, Charlotte established dominance in the Alpha's mansion. I couldn't blame her at all. Since I had found out about her secret relationship with Alpha Dan, she had no more reasons to keep it a secret.

Charlotte took my position in Alpha Dan's room and surely, I was partially happy about this. I didn't need to worry about constant beatings and molestation from Alpha Dan.

It was quite funny to see how Alpha Dan was so kind to Charlotte. He never treated her the same way he did to me. I knew he was pretending.

When I started my relationship with Alpha Dan, he acted sweetly towards me. It was later that he changed. If Alpha Dan could change towards him, I knew Charlotte wasn't an exception. It was only a matter of time and she would regret all she did.

But that wasn't the main issue. After Charlotte had taken charge, I was being belittled.

Literally, I was demoted to the post of a maid. I had to join the maids to do the dishes, wash the floor, massage Charlotte, cook the meals, and set the table.

Charlotte failed to act like I was a friend of hers. I could still remember the day I brought her to the mansion. She was so naive then and I helped her settle in. I convinced Alpha Dan to give her acommodation and he did.

She had free food and free accommodation. Her privacy was protected and she didn't need to work in the mansion all because of my influence.

Now, Charlotte was biting the fingers that fed her. It was quite surprising for me.

“Eileen!” Charlotte shouted. She was calling me even when she knew I was doing the dishes with the maids. My personal maid, Amy, was with me. She had also resigned herself to this reality.

“Stay here, my lady!” Amy told me. “Let me go and answer the call

I held her back.

“Charlotte won't allow this. She is calling me and she won't stop until I come. You have been here for long and I think you should know this,” I told her solemnly. I could see Amy frown her face.

“I don't like this at all!” Amy told me. “You are the Luna and you shouldn't serve as a maid for a mere concubine!”

“Should I tell her what you just said?” I asked Amy. I could still hear Charlotte's voice. She was still calling me.

“Why are you standing in for her?” Amy asked. “She is your enemy and you should let me insult her!”

I shook my head. I walked up to Amy and whispered in her ears.

“I am not doing this for her!” I told her sincerely. “If she has a loyalist maid here, you would have just gotten into trouble. Be careful!”

After saying this, I walked out of the kitchen to heed Charlotte's call. She must have been waiting for long and I knew she would be angry.

But definitely, I didn't imagine how angry she would be.

As Charlotte sighted me from afar, she began to walk towards me. I didn't know what would happen. Immediately she got to the place I stood, she slapped my face.

I had to endure.

“Char…” I tried to say before she slapped me the second time. I kept shut. I had just been slapped by my ex-best friend whom used to depend on me for everything.

This was simply unbelievable.

“Listen to me!” Charlotte shouted angrily. “I am a dominant personality in this mansion. In your lifetime, never try to count my calls. Immediately you hear me call your name, your duty is to answer instantly. How dare you stress me!”

I couldn't accept this but still, I knew I had to. If I tried to retaliate, I would be punished by Charlotte. She had a lot of maids and guards whom would happily beat me up.

Also, she would definitely tell Alpha Dan when he got back and that was another issue on its own.

Tears flowed from my eyelids down to my cheek. I didn't break down at all. I was trying to be strong for myself.

This was reality.

In the next few days, the process continued. It all ended when I was invited to the public hall. On my way in, I could see a lot of people and I knew an important announcement would be made very soon.

The guards led me to the podium. I was the center of attraction.

“Eileen!” Alpha Dan called.

“Yes, my Lord,” I replied dryly.

“You are not worth to be my mate,” Alpha Dan confessed. As I heard this, my heart sank. “On this note, I reject you as my mate!”

I couldn't believe this.

A lot of people were looking at me but I managed to find Charlotte.

She had a devilish grin.
