Chapter Six
When I woke up, I was back into my room, lying on my bed. My head throbbed as I tried to make sense of what had happened. Had i imagined it? The transformation……. Logan…..it could not be real, right? But the memory was too vivid. The sight of his eyes glowing , his body shifting—it was not something my mind could invent.
I sat up slowing, feeling disoriented. The room was dark, but the moonlight streamed through the window. I rubbed my temples, trying to calm the rising panic.
Just then, the door creaked open. My heart skipped a beat as I saw Logan stepping inside. He moved quickly, his usual arrogance replaced with something else—something more serious, almost guarded. His eyes flickered over me as he stepped further into the room, his jaw clenched tightly. He did not say a word at first, just stood there, as if he was deciding whether to speak or not.
I swallowed hard, my voice barely above a whisper. “Logan…….what happened?”
He exhaled sharply, running his hand through his hair. “You saw, didn’t you.”
I tried to play it like I did not know what he was talking about. “Saw what?” I questioned.
“Don’t play dumb Audrey!”
I flinched at how sharp his voice was. Logan usually teased me, even when was being annoying, but this time was different. He was upset—really upset.
“I am not playing dumb,” I said, my voice shaking a little. “I don’t know exactly what I saw.”
He stepped closer, his eyes narrowing. The room felt smaller with him standing so close, his energy intense. “You know exactly what you saw, Audrey.”
I looked at him, my mind racing. I did know what I saw, but I did not want to say it out loud. Admitting it would make it real. Logan wasn’t normal, whatever he was, it would change everything.
“Logan,” I whispered, “what are you?”
For a moment, Logan did not utter a word. He looked away, like was trying to find the right words. The room was quiet and the tension between us grew. Finally, he sighed and looked tired, as if he had been carrying a heavy weight for a long time.
“I didn’t want you to find out this way,” he said quietly. “But yeah, you saw it. I am different……….”
“Different?” I repeated, still confused by what I had seen. “What are you?”
Logan ran a hand through his hair, clearly frustrated. “I am a werewolf, Audrey,” he said , his voice barely above a whisper.
My mind froze. “A werewolf? That was impossible. “You are joking,” I said shaking my head. “This can’t be real.”
“I wish I was,” Logan replied, stepping closer. “But you saw it with your own eyes. I did not want to get you involved, but now you know.”
I swallowed hard, my heart racing. "How... how is this even possible? Does your dad know? Does anyone else?"
He nodded. "Yeah, my dad knows. He's one too. It runs in the family."
I stared at him, still trying to grasp what he was saying. "What about your mom?" | asked, my voice barely steady.
Logan's face darkened, and he shook his head. "No. She doesn't know, and you can't tell her. Ever." His voice was serious, almost pleading.
A thought crossed my mind-this could be my chance to make things less complicated between us. If he didn't want his mom to know, maybe I could use that to set some boundaries.
"I won't tell her," I said slowly, watching his reaction. "But only if you agree to something."
Logan raised an eyebrow, curious but wary.
"What is it?"
"We both pretend we don't know each other at school. No more games, no teasing, no acting like we're close. We stay out of each other's way."
Logan stared at me, his expression hard to read. For a moment, I thought he was going to refuse. Then, after what felt like an eternity, he nodded
"Fine," he said, his voice low. "We'll keep things separate at school. But Audrey..." He stepped closer, his eyes locking with mine.
"Just remember, you know my secret now."
"That comes with a price. You're part of this, whether you like it or not."
I nodded, trying to ignore the sinking feeling in my stomach. "Deal."
Logan stood there for a moment longer, staring at me. His words felt heavy, like they meant more than he was saying. After a while, he turned and left the room, closing the door quietly behind him.
I stayed sitting on my bed, trying to make sense of everything. A werewolf. It sounded crazy, but I had seen it with my own eyes—Logan changing, his glowing eyes, and his body shifting. It wasn’t something I could ignore.
Lying back down, I stared at the ceiling, wondering how I would face him at school. We had made a deal—he would leave me alone, and I’d do the same. But deep down, I knew things wouldn’t be that easy. My life had changed, and there was no going back.
The next morning, I got out of bed feeling like I hadn’t slept at all. I went through the motions of getting ready, but my mind was stuck on what had happened the night before. When I went downstairs, I ran into my mom, who was busy making breakfast.
“Morning, sweetie!” she said cheerfully. “You look tired. Everything okay?”
I forced a smile, trying not to let her see how stressed I was. “Yeah, just didn’t sleep well,” I replied, hoping she wouldn’t ask more questions.
She smiled back. “Make sure you eat before heading out.”
I grabbed a piece of toast, but I barely tasted it. I mumbled something about needing to leave and headed out the door. I wasn’t sure how I would act normal around Logan today.
At school, I saw Logan across the courtyard. His eyes flicked toward me for a moment, but just as we agreed, he didn’t acknowledge me. He was with his friends, acting like nothing had happened.
But for me, everything was different.
I tried to avoid him, like we had promised, but it felt strange. There was something in the air, like I was part of something bigger now. I just didn’t know what.
