Cupcake.
Simon POV.
All the girls that work in the club that I own have a name, one that isn't theirs, they use fake ones, mostly derived from sugar, they all are as sweet as sugar, and the one that I had my eyes on names herself Cupcake.
"Lucas, keep an eye on the cupcake, keep me updated on her situation," I order my friend as I was busy cleaning the mess that was left in my club.
The one guy she killed, was no one, it was easy to make him disappear and to clean the club, scrubbing it off without anyone's knowledge. She sure has tried to get away first, I don't blame her, I would have tried to get away from a mafia boss as well, even if she's a vampire. She asked to be driven to the next town and I allowed Lucas to do so, keeping taps on her, she did give Lucas a run for his money, and following her the whole day she kept falling head-first into trouble. She kept on running in the wrong direction driving him insane until I was called and told that the coven has claimed back what was theirs, the Cupcake.
"I want her," I tell the head of the coven, his name is Thomas, and he's been a vampire for way too long, I doubt he's one of the originals.
"Her? She's a girl with no Sir, and she's been playing teasing games with us for years now, she needs a good slap on the bum to remind her who her masters are," Thomas says, he too is interested in her, the way she acts, the way she moves, those eyes.
"What kind of games?" I ask him, I was on good terms with Thomas, I showed him my loyalties, and he was loyal back to me, we offered each other what the other one wants and needed.
Thomas wanted blood, and I offered him some potential humans for his feeding clubs, I don't work in that domain, but I help him when needed, in return he works with me in my drug domain. We respect each other enough to be able to talk freely, and I can keep tabs on a vampire girl that belongs to the coven.
"She never wanted to belong to us, she ran off her sir, she was hidden first, but then she had to come to us for help, she paid and we gave her new identities," Thomas says, they never stay alive alone for long, they need their maker or their coven.
"She's an interesting girl," I say with a smile, she sure had all of our attention, mine and the coven's.
"Yes, she is, and you still want her?" he asks me raising a brow at me, I knew she was going to cost me a lot.
"I do, what's the price?" I ask him, knowing I'm going to pay for that.
"Money," Thomas says with a laugh out loud, I laughed back at him, I knew that's what he was going to ask for.
"What else?" I say money loses its meaning for them after a while, they have too much money to know what to do with it, and now they prefer favours and entertainment.
"One of my kids wants to start work," Thomas says, I stayed quiet, it's better not to say anything, wait for him to say what he wants to say, not to put any words out there that might change his mind, might end up with my death.
"And the work he wants to do...it's similar to yours," Thomas says, so that's what he wants, a favour of course.
"Yes," I say the singular word, telling him I'm paying attention to what he's saying and I'm interested in the rest.
"I'll give you the girl, in return you'll work with him, you'll show him the way, and he'll be your partner," Thomas says and my face falls into a hard frown.
I don't like partners, I work alone, I only work with the ones I trust and I don't know this son of his, and I don't want to be forced into working with anyone, what if this son tries to take over my life, I know they do it for the fun of it and not for the money, they don't care how much they make, they just care to have fun.
Is she worth it, that was the first thought in my head, do I want to ruin my business for her, how much do those brown eyes are worth, and how much would I be able to take from the vampires?
"My work isn't that big," I lied, I'm one of the biggest bosses out there.
"Here's the deal Simon, you take my son Elijah in, you let him join, he'll be the mind behind the work, you get to keep most of the money, with all the pluses you're getting, and you get extra protection from us," Thomas offers.
"I'm still a human and you are the one on top of the food chain," I say knowing too well this agreement would go down the drain soon.
"We can change that anytime now Simon," Thomas says with a laugh, I never know if he's for real in this part or just joking with me.
"I'm good as a human," I assure him as I do every time.
"Fine, let there be an agreement between us, money, and partnership, we'll give you the girl," he says and I decide to take the deal, anything written is respected by them, they only have their words to go by after all those years and I know they'll never go back.
"You got a deal," I say to Thomas, agreeing to sign the papers, they'll take an hour or two to be ready, and I'll have to take my time reading them, the vampires are the ones who created the saying 'Read between the lines.'
