Chapter 4

URGE FOR REVENGE

Sarah let out a chuckle. “You’re joking right?’’ She asked, her nails drumming against the counter.

When she saw that there was no smile on the agent’s face, her smile faltered.

“I’ll just give you another card then.’’ She replied, digging her hands into her bag.

She brought out three more master cards and passed them to the agent.

“You can try any of that.’’

The agent nodded, inserting each card into the card reader, her forehead knotting deeper with each card she inserted.

“All your cards are frozen.’’ She uttered, passing the cards back.

Sarah took them, placing them back into her bag with a dazed expression.

“Did her grandfather somehow—‘’

She paused, shaking her head in disbelief.

Retracting her steps, she went back to her car and popped her trolley back in the truck.

Closing it, she walked to the driver’s seat and slipped in, her hand tightening around the steering wheel.

Her legs pressed against the gas pedal as she sped off to her grandfather’s mansion, her heart hammering in her chest as she came to a halt just outside of the large gates.

Seeing that the master’s daughter had finally come home after a while, the gatekeeper happily hit the buzzer, waving at the car as it drove deeper into the estate.

Sarah turned off the engine just by the side of a waterfall.

Her legs hit the marble floor, her eyes taking in the exterior of her grandfather’s home.

She hadn’t been here in a while.

Not since she got married to Jerome.

She blinked away the tears that threatened to fall from her eyes and straightened, taking long strides into the house.

“The master is in his study.’’ A maid muttered, bowing her head at the little miss.

Sarah nodded, giving her a small smile. “I’ll take the tea to his room.’’ She offered, reaching for the tray in the older woman’s hand.

The woman nodded, passing the tray to Sarah while also helping her steady it properly.

“Thank you,’’ Sarah uttered before moving towards her grandfather’s study.

She managed to push open the door despite having a thick kettle filled with tea and a little glass cup pressing down on the tray in her hand.

Grandfather. she greeted, bowing her head.

The old man’s head snapped up, his eyes filled with coldness as he stared up at her.

“Place it here.’’ He uttered, tapping against a spot on the table.

Sarah nodded, doing as she was told.

Once she was done, she stepped back, her eyes holding sadness as she asked him the one question she’d never thought she would.

“Did you sell me to the Goldbergs for some business collaboration?’’ She asked, her voice icy cold as she stared at his slightly drained eyes.

“Yes. Now go back home.’’ He uttered, going back to what he was doing.

Sarah’s eyes widened in shock as she stared at him.

There was no hesitation in his words.

He didn’t even try to hide it. Try to deny it. Try to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Instead, he was so brutally honest about how he sold his only grandchild to a manwhore.

“How could you do that to me?!’’ She shouted, her voice rising.

“Do not speak to me in that tone young lady.’’ Her grandfather muttered, his voice laced with warning.

“Three years ago, you were on your knees in front of me, begging to marry that manwhore.’’ He uttered, slamming his hands against the table.

Sarah flinched, watching him get up to his feet.

Despite his old age, he was still strong as ever, his height towering above hers.

“That was because you set me up! You made him come to me when I was vulnerable! You always wanted to control my life and you succeeded in doing so!’’ Sarah shouted, defiance laced in her voice.

Despite the way her heart was palpitating with fear for her grandfather, she didn’t have plans of backing down from this fight.

He was just a selfish old man who used her for his own gain.

‘“You’re selfish!’’ She shouted, tears brimming in her eyes.

It was the second time she had been crying in a day.

How could someone she calls her own be this cruel?!

Her grandfather walked up to her, his face showing no sign of remorse.

“Your account would remain frozen until you go back to your husband’s house and act like a good wife to him.’’ He uttered, making her eyes widen in shock.

So he really froze her accounts uh?!

“Because the same money that is sitting pretty in your account didn’t come from me being selfless. It came from being selfish. And if I have to give you away to the Goldbergs for the second time, I would do so in a heartbeat.’’ He muttered, clicking his tongue.

His feet drummed against his study floor as he headed back for his seat and plopped on it, going back to what he was doing before she arrived.

Sarah just stood dazed, staring at him.

She’d never felt so broken in her whole life.

“You’re dismissed.’’ Her grandfather’s baritone voice bloomed, breaking her out of her reverie.

She turned around, her hands tightening into fists by her side.

A defeated expression was laced in her eyes, her shoulders sagged, and her legs wobbled as she made her way to her car.

She slipped into it, a shrill cry escaping her lips as she hit her head against the steering wheel repeatedly, tears flowing like a dam had broken.

Her phone buzzed by her side, disrupting her cry.

She reached for it, her face twisting as she saw that there was no caller ID.

She picked it, putting it on speaker phone.

“Sarah Sinclair?’’

Sarah paused, not recognizing the voice at the other end. “Who are you?’’ She asked, picking up the phone.

There was a low chuckle from the other end.

“The one who knows what is brewing in your heart right now. Revenge?! I can help you get that kitten!’’
