Chapter 3

ALL MEN CHEAT

“G—Granny!’’ Sarah stuttered, her eyes widening in shock as she moved to pick up the broken pieces of her phone.

Lilian towered above her, her chest rising and falling as she watched the little girl scramble for scraps.

“On your feet.’’ She ordered, her gaze hardening as she stared at Sarah’s unmoving figure.

“I said on your feet!’’ She shouted, making Sarah flinch.

Her eyes now had tears trickling down, the tears she had sworn to never shed again.

Her voice sounded broken as she struggled to get up on her feet, her eyes blurry with tears as she stared at Jerome’s grandmother.

“Why would you do that?’’ She asked, her voice laced with denial.

“Do what?’’ Lilian asked, her face showing confusion.

She stepped closer to Sarah, her hands grasping at her shoulders tightly.

Her mouth was eerily close to Sarah’s ear, her breath fanning her neck.

“If your husband cheated, it means you’re not competent enough.’’ She murmured, her words making Sarah’s eyes widen in shock.

She had never heard Lilian speak so cruelly.

She’d always been on her side all this time, being the sweet grandmother she’d never had.

Who knew she’d change so much just by seeing her son’s infidelity?

Sarah shook her head, stepping back.

“ I-I don’t understand.’’ She stuttered, her bloodshot eyes staring up at Lilian.

Her facial expression held pain and desperation, begging Lilian to prove her wrong.

Instead, she heard a low chuckle escape from the older woman’s lips.

“All men cheat. You just have to learn to accept that. My husband also cheated but guess what?’’ She asked, her hands crossed against her chest as she stared at Sarah, whose orbs hadn’t gone back to their normal size.

“He always came back to me.’’ She completed, a small smile gracing her lips.

Sarah stared up at her, anger and irritation laced in her expression.

All this time, Jerome’s grandmother had been telling her how her husband was the best man ever.

Who knew he was just a cheating asshole who had passed the traits to his godforsaken son and brainwashed his naive, foolish wife.

She wiped the tears off her cheeks, knowing Jerome and his grandmother weren’t worth her tears.

She stepped back, an evil glint in her eyes. “I’m sure you’ve never had to contain a scandal before.’’ She uttered, chuckling.

“Well, you would be doing a lot of that. Because I would make sure the world knows that your son is a gruesome cheat. And the Goldberg family is filled with scamming scums. Let’s not forget—”

PWAK!

Sarah’s head turned to the side as she felt the stinging pain of the slap.

Her hand reached for her face and she held it, feeling the finger lines that had now become a part of her facial features.

She chuckled, licking the blood stain from the side of her lips.

Lilian’s ring had hit the side of her lips, making an opening in the process.

“How dare you think of dragging my family’s name into the mud?!’’ Lilian uttered, her chest heaving painfully.

Her eyes that were once amused now held anger as she stared at Sarah.

“Do you even think you were some kind of important person in this family? My son never loved you!’’ She continued, her shoulders increasing as she noticed the change in Sarah’s expression.

“He was plunged into that doom of a marriage all for the sake of a business collaboration. Do not kid yourself into thinking you were special.’’ She spat.

Sarah shook her head in disbelief.

“You’re lying!’’ She murmured, her voice betraying her.

She stepped back slightly, pulling at her hair like some kind of mad woman.

“I’m lying? Why don’t you ask your grandfather?’’ Lilian uttered, a small chuckle escaping her lips.

She turned around and went back to her seat, swiveling in it while basking in the joy of Sarah’s distress.

“My grandfather?’’ Sarah asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Her grandfather would never do something like that to her.

He would never sell her to the Goldbergs just for a business deal.

He loved her! He was the only family she had.

Lilian Goldberg’s mouth had always been full of lies. She had only failed to notice it early.

“I no longer care about your family! Fuck you and Fuck your son!’’ Sarah screamed, stepping back.

She carried her wobbly legs to the foot of the door, opening it to find the maid's ears pressed against the door, listening in on the conversation.

Immediately they saw her, they all scrambled away and went back to their duties.

Sarah was too absentminded to even notice.

She rushed back to her car and hopped in it, pressing the pedal back to Jerome’s mansion.

She was done staying with him!

If he didn’t want to sign the papers, then they could stay married only on paper. She had enough money to leave anyways.

She rushed into the house, opening the door to their shared room.

The scene of Jerome fucking another girl in their bed didn’t seem to prick her as much as it did before.

She just packed up her things into a suitcase and rolled the trolley down the stairs, leaving Jerome’s moans in her wake.

Her hands clutched the suitcase tight as she placed it into the trunk of her car before slipping into the driver’s seat and driving towards the airport.

She highlighted her car and pulled out her suitcase, heading towards the counter.

She stopped just in front of the airline ticket agent, her hand stretching out her card to the agent.

“I’d like to book a flight to Hawaii.’’ She muttered, tapping her legs against the floor impatiently.

The agent nodded, taking the card from her.

She inserted the card into a card reader, her brows furrowing.

“Is something wrong?’’ Sarah asked, noticing the agent’s reaction.

“Your account has been frozen ma’am.’
