Chapter 7 Dotingly

“Sir Flores, you look very happy.”

A teacher pass by his office and see the humming teacher.

“Good Morning Mrs. De Chavez. It is a good day today.”

Ethan answered happily.

“I can see flowers blooming in your smile. Could it be…a woman?”

“A girl.” Ethan answered teasingly.

“Oh. What a bad boy.”

They laugh together.

Ethan is very happy.

Today, Katherine will finally decided to stop working twice a day.

And his little Goddaughter is inviting him to eat squid with him at lunch.

He rode his car and bought ice cream for the little girl.

Ethan is always been there for the two.

Katherine is his bestfriend since highschool.

At first, it is just a simple friendship but Katherine never leaves him through thick and thin.

And he reciprocate and never leave her through fire and flood.

Their relationship is more than that of lovers and people often told then to just get married.

Ethan will just laugh and Katherine will be all red everytime.

They don’t see each other us lovers.

Ethan never felt like wanting to hold hands and kiss with Katherine.

Katherine never thinks of ever letting him either.

But they will willingly die for one another.

This kind of friendship is very rare and thus they cherish it greatly.

That is also why Ethan cant get a stable relationship.

His past girlfriends always got jealous and make him choose between 'them' and the parent and child.

Ofcourse, he will choose Katherine and her little baby.

“Uncle!”

This is the first time Kara see Ethan after her rebirth.

Bubbles of emotions resurfacing and she is choke to tears.

She remembered one month before Katherine died, Uncle Ethan kneel in front of her and beg her to see her mother for one last time but she steeled her heart and ignore him.

She even insults him.

Ethan never blame her.

Never curse her or shame her, just continue to beg her.

Ethan is a man.

But she pretends his ego is nothing.

For a man who never has any misgiving in his life, Ethan choose to beg her.

Kara bites her lower lip.

If only he is my real dad.

Kara run and tackle the stunned Ethan.

She hugs him tightly as she wants to embraced him for the past debt and the future ones.

“Hey, What happened to you? Are you hurt? Where does it hurt?”

Ethan rubs her head and constantly checking her body and her pulse.

She never seen this man flustered.

She is very bless to be surrounded by these kind people but her past self only see luxury and choose to love her cold blooded father alone.

Foolish!

“Can I call you Papa?”

“No.”

Kara is stunned.

She thought in that situation Ethan will be very accommodating and agreed right away.

She looks at him with teary eyed.

“I cant get married if you call me that.” Ethan generously explained and wipe her tears and snot with a tissue.

“Then Marry mom.”

“If Apocalypse happens.”

“……”

Ethan suddenly laugh and he stands straight.

Kara is looking up at him with grudgingly stare.

Ethan bend down and carry her.

Kara felt scared and she shouted protesting.

Ethan just laugh happily.

“What are you two doing?” Katherine went outside to see the two when she heard Kara’s wailing.

Kara wants to break free but Ethan is very strong.

Ethan laughs and walks to the door.

“Uncle, you meanie!”

“What about me?” Ethan look at the glaring Kara with a twinkling eyes.

“M-mom! You gotta help me.”

Kara look at Katherine.

Being princess carry in her age by her Uncle is not a pleasant experience.

“You two are very loud. The neighbors will get mad if we disturb them.”

Katherine shakes her head and left. But after turning her eyes want to cry too.

Such harmonious and peaceful life.

She didn’t know it was even possible.

“B-but Mom!”

Kara didn’t believe Katherine will left her.

This is very embarassing.

“Uncle! Aren’t I heavy?”

“Just right.” He answered.

He doesn’t sweat and his grip is very stable making Kara unable to retort.

She just hug his neck burying her face in his chest because she felt very embarrassed.

When she did that Ethan eyes widen.

She doesn’t see how Ethan look at her lovingly.

He is very pleased and happy.

Ethan is the first person besides from the doctor who held Kara in this world.

When he carried her soft and tiny body back then, he promises to love her unconditionally and support her for life.

But as she grows older.

This little brat become very disagreeable.

Still, he wishes to get close to her.

But Kara’s fortress is very hard.

So to avoid conflict, he just get contented on hearing news and dotingly send her gifts in secret.

But now the little chick has cried just seeing her.

Kara has no idea how so many ripples created in his heart.

He even wants to recheck if he is okay or hallucinating.

But the girl is heavy and warm in his arms.

This is true.

This is real.

So he doesn’t want to let go.

This feelings, if it wont last will always be his treasured moment.

“Why am I sitting in Uncle’s lap?! I am 11!”

Kara bite the squid in the stick.

Ethan dotingly wipes the corner of her lips.

“Because you are not heavy.” Ethan said with a smile.

Katherine giggles but stop when Kara glares at her.

“Mother! You should protect your daughter. What if he is secretly a lolicon?”

“Oh, he is a lolicon, alright.” Katherine knows Ethan has a collection of Kara’s picture.

Every year he will secretly go to her school fest and he would be contented to be her secret camera man who took several pictures of her unnoticed.

This man is in love with her daughter in a worshipping level.

“Urgh!” Kara is speechless and cannot retort back so she  just angrily chewed the squid.

The squid is very tasty that she cant help smiling and the two adults will tease her again.

“Uncle brings your favorite mango flavored ice cream. Where is my thanks?” Ethan look at her.

He smiles and touches the bulging cheek from chewing food.

“Humped! Uncle you're disturbing me.” She pouts but Ethan only wipes her lips that has squid juice.

Satisfied, Ethan also takes bite in her squid.

Kara’s mouth gape as she looks at her Uncle.

This is a doting Uncle!

He is annoying but not hateful.

“Uncle, I also like chocolate flavored ice cream!” she said and wipes his mouth copying him.

Ethan’s eyes squint and look at her

“Got it!” he answered right away.

Chocolate or whatever.

He is willing to buy any flavored ice cream she wants.

Katherine laughs seeing the agitate look in Ethan’s face.

He looks like a man who never joke around but actually he always fools around and play hooky. He is just good at hiding so no one knew how lazy he was.

But Ethan is also very caring.

If not, why would he be very concerned about Kara?

Ethan doesn’t say it but he cares for her like her real father.

“You two! I feel like you are ignoring me.” Katherine pouts.

Kara coax her and lift her squid to offer to her mother.

Ethan is faster and his arms are longer so he gently feed Katherine.

Katherine laughs at the two silly people fighting to curry favor.

Such a wonderful lunch.

Ethan is very reluctant to leave but he has to go.

“You should not be lazy at school. We have a goal.” Ethan reminds Kara.

Kara nods.

She lied saying there is no school today and skipped just to be able to dine with Ethan. If Ethan finds out, he will be really angry.

She just played cute and angrily stick her tongue.

Ethan sigh and pats her head.

“Come back on weekends.” Kara said softly as if whispering but Ethan heard her.

“Okay.” He said.

“Mom, Uncle is really a lolicon?” Kara asks Katherine.

“He just like you a lot.” She said and kiss her hair. “That being said, is there really no class today?”

“Ah Mom…..Is there more Ice cream left?”

“Kara!”

“I wont skip class anymore. Promise.”

“You better.”
