Chapter 18 Temp Dad

Kara's P.O.V

We came to a private small island.

Uncle Richard is really well off.

Uncle Ethan help him get our bags.

Then he disappeared out of no where.

Hehe.

This adults are really funny.

"Where is Uncle Ethan?" I ask.

Uncle Richard is in the kitchen.

He flinched.

"Ah, he-he went out..He will be back later."

"Oh? But didnt the boatman said he will be back tomorrow? Where did Uncle Ethan get another boat?"

"Hmm? Hah? Ah? Y-yeah. The boatman.. We-we ask him to wait for your Uncle Ethan."

"Hmmm..."

I nod.

So he wants to spend time with me alone?

Isnt he too cute?

"Yeah. Ill prepare our lunch. You just go and have fun in the beach."

"I can help you."

"No. I can handle this. Leave it to me."

"If you say so. Ill just play for a bit then Ill help you."

"Ah. S-sure. Take care. Dont swim far."

"Yeah."

I dont like getting tanned so I wont swim under this intense heat Uncle Richard.

I just stand there while taking in the cold and fresh breeze.

So fresh.

After a while I went back.

The kitchen is a mess.

"What happened?" I ask.

Uncle Richard is washing his bleeding finger.

What happened?

Did he lose a finger?

I grab his hand forcefully.

"I-I am fine. Just a small cut."

How is this small?

This guy is hopeless.

I frown.

"Ill cook." I push him away from the knife.

"Eh? I can do it!"

"Uncle!"

"W-what?"

"When did you last touch a knife?"

"Last night?"

"When did you learn how to cook?"

"L-last night?"

"Ill do it."

I glare at him.

I can cook simple dish.

Nothing exaggerated like some frech sounding meal. Just sauted vege and chicken adobo.

"Kara,your cooking taste so good. Better than my cook."

"Uncle, please change your cook then."

I sigh. This is the basic.

But I smile timidly.

Being praise is really a good feeling.

"Kara should cook for Uncle more."

"Hmm? I can cook Sinigang if you want."

"I want roasted Squid."

"My favorite? Mom cooks it all the time."

"I like everything you like."

That is so cheesy Uncle.

But I smile anyways.

It is a good feeling being courted like this.

"Let's swim?" Uncle Richard is walking here and there.

"Hm? Later, when the sun set."

"Eh? No! What if you drown?"

"Then Uncle Richard will save me."

"You---"

"Ahahahaha.."

Uncle Richard sigh and smile.

We are the only one in the island so it is a bit scary.

But we swim till it is 9.

Uncle Richard is a bit strict.

He wont let me swim after 9 whatever I say.

"Um....We actually want to spend the whole day, just the two of us. We ask Ethan to leave us. I hope you wont get mad."

I smile.

"Oh, so that is why he didnt came back? Hahaha. It is fine Uncle. I understand."

Lightning.

Crush.

Thunder.

"Whoa. What a loud sound." I laugh.

Sorry.

I am not the scared type.

When I look in front, Uncle Richard is pale.

Oh?

Could it be?

Thunder.

Thunder.

Uncle Richard starts shaking.

Is he....scared of Thunder?

"Uncle! Im so scared!"

I shout and run to his arm.

Uncle Richard hug me tightly.

"I-It's fine. Uncle is here." He said and suppress his trembling.

I smile.

"Uncle! Let's hide in the room!"

"Y-yeah.."

We cuddle in the bed.

We are protected by the blanket.

I observe Uncle Richard.

His complexion is getting better.

Crash!

Lightning.

Thunder.

"Ah!" Uncle let out a pathetic shout then he grit his teeth and hugs me.

"It is fine. It will be better. There is nothing scary." He said.

His eyes is shut close.

I hug him back and pat his back lightly.

"Uncle, Im scared."

"It is fine. I will be here. Ill stay here." He said hurriedly and increase the strenght in his hug.

"Um...I will also be here Uncle."

"Yes."

When I wake up, It is already morning.

I am in the bed comfortably sleeping while wrap in blanket.

When I went down, Uncle Ethan and Uncle Richard is chatting happily.

"Oh. Good morning Baby Kara." Uncle Ethan hugs me and kiss my cheek.

I am used to it.

"Good morning Uncle Ethan." I jokingly push his face away from me when he rubs his stubbles on my cheek.

"Good Morning,Kara." Uncle Richard sweetly greets me.

I smile and hug his waist.

The two stiffened.

"Good morning Uncle."

"Wait. Wait. What about me?" Uncle Ethan ask grudgingly.

Uncle Richard laughs and hug me back.

"We have our little secret last night." He said.

Uncle Ethan grab his shirt and look staright at his eyes.

"What have you done with my little baby?"

"Eh?"

"Let's eat." I ignore them.

"But-but!" Uncle Ethan pouts.

"Haha." Uncle Richard pats Uncle Ethan's hand.

Uncle Ethan sigh and just follow us in the table.

After a good meal I felt sleepy and Uncle Richard carry me in the boat.

"Let's eat Lunch. Did you two enjoy?" Katherine ask while tucking Kara in her bed safely when they return home.

Richard nods.

"I got scared when I heard there is Storm signal in your direction." Katherine rub Richard's face.

"Yeah. Thunder and Lightning. I thought Im gonna die. But Kara is there. I have to be brave because she cried she is scared and all."

"Kara? She is not scared of those."

"No way. She cried Scared Scared all night. Hugging me."

Katherine smiles.

"She find you out." She teasingly poke his side.

Richard's eyes widen.

Then he sigh.

Then he laughs.

"She is really your child. So considerate."

"Hahaha. Kara must be very cute last night? Did you poke her cheeks when she fell asleep?"

"Oh Gawd, dont tease me. How can I do that? She'll get mad at me."

"Hehe. You surely did that."

"I---"

Richard wants to deny but Katherine knows him very much.

He smiles.

"How I wish I am her real Dad."

"Richard.."

"No. I am happy. Being an Uncle is also good."
