Chapter 2

"WHAT THE FUCK, Layla? HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME?" Oliver screamed, the picture frame slipped from Hazel's hand and crashed to the ground, the glass splintered everywhere. She rushed after the sound and found her brother in his bedroom, she could not believe the image in front of her. On the bed laid Layla, her brother's girlfriend of five years, on top of another man. They quickly pulled apart and Layla rushed to Oliver with the duvet barely covering her nakedness. Hazel felt like throwing up but she held the bile in.

"Babe, it isn't what it looks like. I can explain ..." She started but Oliver cut her off. She tried to touch him but he smacked her hands away from him and stepped back, giving them space. His face was red with anger, Hazel tapped his back softly trying to calm him down so he wouldn't do anything that he would regret.

" What the hell do you mean by it isn't what it looks like, I know exactly what it looks like, he was fucking you. You were fucking riding him. How can you explain that ?!" He thundered, Hazel was disgusted at Layla, she wanted to butt in and call Layla some nasty names but she held back because it was Oliver's fight.

"Babe, I'm sorry. He is no one, I promise. " Layla cried, Hazel rolled her eyes, she could not believe that this bitch thought that her crocodile tears were going to work on them. Hazel's gaze moved to the barely clad man on the bed, he did not even move, he acted as if he was not even bothered by their presence but Hazel could tell that he hated them, especially Oliver, by the way, his jaw was clenched and his hard eyes settled on her brother, shooting daggers at him. Yep, this was the man Layla claimed was no one, Liar.

Oliver ran his hands through his hair, something he only did when he was frustrated.

"I'm done, I don't want to have anything to do with you and to think I was going to propose to you. Let's go, Hazel." Oliver turned and walked out of the room, leaving them both shell-shocked. Hazel was surprised that her brother had thought about marrying Layla, she never liked her and she had always hoped they would break up, it seemed she was finally getting her wish. Hazel knew that Layla was only with her brother because of his wealth.

Layla turned to Hazel and held her hand, she brought out her fake tears again, and Hazel was repulsed by her. She snatched her hand back from her grip.

"Can I help you?" Hazel asked, glaring at her. She knew what Layla wanted to ask her but she was patiently waiting so that she could show her what kind of person she was.

"Hazel please, please help me beg him. It was a mistake, I don't know what came over m…" Hazel raised her hand, signaling that she should stop talking. Hazel smiled wickedly with a twinkle in her eye.

"Beg." She motioned for her to go on her knees, Layla recoiled back, shocked at Hazel's words.

"What did you just say?" She asked her, her eyebrows furrowed.

" Do you want my help or not? Now, knee down and beg." Hazel smirked, she knew Layla would do anything she said, just so she didn't lose her access to Oliver, her ATM. Hazel could see the conflict in Layla's eyes, she wondered how long it would take her to make up her mind. Hazel tapped at her watch.

"You know I don't have all day right, I have to go console my brother. I'm sure you know him, a certain bitch just broke his heart." Layla looked like she really wanted to cry, she swallowed and was about to go on her knees when her still-naked accomplice spoke.

"Layla, what the fuck are you doing, don't get on your knees, why are you going through all this trouble for a guy you don't even like?" His voice was full of anger and hatred that Hazel assumed was for her brother.

Layla's brown hair swirled like a whiplash, as she turned to face him. She was shaking like someone who had just taken a cold shower in the middle of winter.

"Shut the hell up, Brian. You don't know anything, don't you dare speak." Her voice blasted through the room. Her blue eyes sparked with fury as she glared at him. Hazel was amused at their conversation.

Layla returned her attention to Hazel, she went down on her knees and clasped her hands.

"I beg of you, Hazel. Please help me beg your brother. I made a mistake but everyone deserves a second chance. Please, Hazel." She pleaded, tears rolling down her mascara-stained face. Hazel took a step closer to her.

"No. I'm not going to help you. I'm not going to even mention your name to my brother. Do you want to know why, because I know you are just with my brother because of his money?" Layla froze, Hazel smiled wildly, she had never felt so good in her life. She had finally put Layla in her place. Layla snapped out of her trance and stood up.

"You're mistaken, I love Oliver." Layla tried to defend herself. Hazel rolled her eyes, already tired and bored out of her mind with the conversation.

"Look, Layla, it's over between you and my brother. Just give up already and accept the plain truth. You're starting to look pathetic." Hazel patted her shoulders as if they were best of friends. She went very close to her and put her lips close to her ear.

"Do you think I'm a fool? If I ever see you around my brother, I'm going to make you wish you never knew my family." Her voice dropped low and deep, it was as cold as an iceberg. She pulled back and gave her the sunniest smile ever seen. Layla was frozen in her spot, she had never seen Hazel in that light.

"Goodbye, Layla. Remember what I said, You really don't want to mess with me." Hazel spun around and walked to the door, she opened the door and was about to leave when she stopped and turned to look at Layla.

"One last thing, I hope you have a very sad and lonely life. See you never, bitch." She walked out of the room and slammed the door shut, the impact of the slam caused the walls to rumble. She walked out of the dingy and overly decorated apartment with a satisfied smile on her face.

"Oliver, why the hell are you calling me at one in the morning, what is so important that it can't wait till when the sun comes up?" Hazel growled on the phone. It wasn't up to an hour since she went to sleep and now Oliver was calling.

"Hey…Haze… I miss you… did I ever tell you what … happened to Mr. Cuddles?" He stuttered in his usually drunken form. Hazel sighed and ran her hand over her face.

"Oh Ollie, are you drunk again? You promised, Ollie, you promised." Hazel's broken voice echoed through the room. She felt her heart being pierced, she was tired of constantly having to be the strong one.

"You're… no fun Hazel. You used… to be… fun. What happened to you?" He belched at the end of his sentence. Hazel was burning with anger and resentment, she could not believe she was now feeling resentment towards her brother, the only man she had ever loved.

"You want to know what happened, Oliver, life happened. I grew up, I thought you had as well but I guess not. Where the hell are you?" She roared into the phone. Her life was so chaotic right now, she was tired of taking care of a grown man.

"I… just went out to have … a few… drinks." A few, Hazel almost laughed, if he called this a few then what would he call a lot?

"No, Oliver, you didn't have a few, you can barely make coherent sentences. Where are you, I'm coming to pick you up." Hazel got out the bed and started to get dressed to go pick him up from god knows what bar he was at.

"No need, I'm … already… driving home. See… you…" Hazel did not give him the chance to complete his sentence before she cut him off.

"You're what? Did I just hear the word, driving? How can you be driving when you know you're drunk? Are you trying to fucking kill yourself? This rubbish behavior of yours has got to stop. I know Layla broke your heart but dude, it's been over a month, you need to get over her. The worst part of all this is that the bitch is probably somewhere else, sleeping with another man." She took in a deep breath and rubbed her forehead, already feeling the strain of an incoming headache.

"I'm tired Oliver, I'm really fucking tired. I can't be the stronger person, that's not the dynamics of our relationship, the company is going down, and we're losing staff. I can't anymore. I just fucking can't. You're being so selfish, GROW THE FUCK UP ALREADY." She yelled into the phone. Tears blurred her vision and she could barely find her car keys.

"Shit, NO," Oliver screamed, Hazel heard the screeching of tires then a loud crash. Her heart dropped into her stomach.

"Ollie?" She asked in a quiet voice, "OLIVER?" She cried out but there was no answer.
