Cataclysm

It was obvious that Donna's thought were right, and now she knows why her stepmother didn't pay her a visit while she was at the hospital. No one actually wants to associate with a suspected drug dealer.

“We have finally gotten what we need, that stupid girls thinks she still have a place in this world after she took my husband's wealthy and used it to build hers. She thought I will forgive her so easily,” Her stepmom; Emily, said as loud laughter followed.

Donna was able to discern who that was. “I never believed my sister and my stepmom will conspire against me after everything I have done for them.”

“I told you to leave everything to me, I was going to make life miserable for her and I did, she lost her man, not just to any other person, but to her best friend.

That's not all, she even lost her company after I planted hard drugs and tipped the police. Everything she thought she was gathering is all gone.” Janet said in excitement. It was at this point, Donna was convinced that Janet was the master planner of the whole conspiracy.

She was paralyzed to the spot, the menacing and heartbroken aura held her in a tightening grip as she listened with a gloomy face reflecting her emotional anguish.

“But her assets is still frozen, she can claim them, start something over again if the police didn't find her guilty, " It was Alice's voice she heard this time around. So this was a federation of conspiracy anchored by someone she took so dearly and called a sister. She never knew they were milking her.

She felt gullible and miserable at the same time. Tears were already lurking around her eyes.

“The police will track her down soon and once that is done, I will claim her asset, remember she signed me as her next of kin.” Janet laughed mockingly and Donna didn't just hear her mockery laughter but glasses clicking.

What? They have no place of good lurked in their heart? They were having a toast to my downfall? This is the height of wickedness.

With so much annoyance hanging within her, she angrily turned the door knob and stumbled in like someone who was ready to pick a fight. Her hand formed in a fist, but let to calm herself down.

The three conspirators were just seated as silence shadowed them when Donna stepped in.

“See who we have here? The shameless cheat and a drug dealer who is so foolish and had the effrontery to even propose to Robert, why will you think so highly of yourself? Shameless pig!!” Janet broke the silence by washing Donna with all the negative words one can think of.

Donna has never been broken emotionally like this before. She felt like falling to the ground and crying to death. What has she done to deserve all of this?

“You must have heard what my beautiful daughter just said, you're worthless in sum total, so this house is not for drug dealers and those who have no manners in them. Who will marry a girl who has no reputation?” Emily said with a mockery smile.

It was Emily's sudden change in behavior that shocked her. When Donna's mom was still alive, no one talked to her like this and all of this tragedy befall on her because of her father's infidelity.

Donna's father had a family else where unknowingly to them. It was after Donna's mother disappeared and was assumed dead by everyone. Well, that was what Donna was told when she grew old enough to ask about her mother.

Living with her stepmother when her father was alive wasn't as miserable as this. She had always wanted to ruin her right from time.

“Why?” Donna said with a distressing tone accentuating her sadness. “Mom, why did you have to do this? What have I done to deserve this?” Donna was forced to ask with her teary eyes.

“First of all, I'm not your mom. Go and meet your stupid mom in the grave and never in your entire life address me as your mom, you shameless fool!!” Emily blasted with her face contorted with rage.

“You must have heard all we were discussing, so why pretend you don't know why. You took everything from me. You made my husband to love you only, you deceived him and made him to hate my lovely daughter.

Why do you think it will all end that way when you made me look stupid and foolish when you took everything my late husband and I worked for,” Emily's nostrils flared as she stared at Donna with a disdainful gaze.

Due to Janet's wayward behavior, Their father changed his will and gave half of his properties to Donna and the rest, which was meant for Janet, to the orphanage.

Janet and her stepsister mom started planning against her after the day the will was read.

“You know what? Get out of this house and never come back here!!!” Emily said and urged her to leave instantly.

The house her father built was now beyond her reach.

What have I done to deserve such hatred? Donna almost cried herself to death, but she had to keep her emotions in check, she didn't want to appear weak in front of them.

She turned her gaze towards Alice, who was just seated on the couch, enjoying her drink and the drama as well.

“I wish you good luck with your marriage. Congratulations, Alice,” Donna said forcefully.

Alice knew that Donna had nothing good in her heart for her. She wasn't actually wishing them good luck, but was cursing them, and Alice could see that.

Alice felt a little bit uncomfortable with the way they treated Donna. But she had crossed the bridge of no return, they can't undo what they have done. So, she gave in to the plan and thought about the future fortunes she hoped to enjoy with Robert.

With tremendous annoyance hovering over Donna, she stared frantically at Janet. She clenched his fist and felt like disfiguring her ugly face. But she thought it was of no good getting into a fight.

“Donna, get out!!! What are you waiting for?” Janet roared at the top of her voice.

Donna gave the house a last glance and left through the door. Tears rolled down her check, uncontrollably when the door jammed on its own accord.

It's over for her, she's homeless now, no place to go. She can't go to the house she bought weeks ago because of the police. The life she was trying to build has been shattered in less than two days.

She wandered in the street confused as tears rolled her cheek. She was lost in thought that she forgot she was in the street.

A car running at high speed zoomed off beside her and the breeze from the car jolted her to life. The black SUV that almost ran over Donna clenched on its brakes to reversed.

A young, handsome man wearing an expensive suit stepped out of the car with his golden eyes glued to Donna.

“Miss Donna..?!!”
