Chapter TWO
After the news had been delivered, the king had requested Gyo to bring the outsider forward. It was custom to allow anyone to challenge the king, which is why the king's position was never safe.
Everyone in the throne room felt stiff at the sudden mood. They couldn't really comprehend such words, the king hasn't been challenged in years, even years before that when his father and grandfather ruled. The king dismissed his sons to the thrones and told them to stand by their mother.
As if on cue, all their hearts began to palpitate as fear took over them. They were unaware of what was going to happen next. Xander felt his fingers shaking slightly, for some reason he felt like everything was about to go upside down. He had no idea what to expect so naturally... He had expected the worse.
He backed away slowly before his trembling hands had taken a firm grip of the throne. There was mumbles and grumbles amongst the throne room and people were running around.
Minutes had passed by and by then, the king had taken his place in front of his family, as if he was protecting them. Preventing any harm from getting through to them.
The throne room doors were flung open and in came a dozen guards with swords and daggers wedged into their sheaths. Only a tuft of raven hair could be seen from the middle. They came in like a storm, his face was still not seen, and Xander bit his lip anxiously, yet his eyes were glaring at the intruder.
And soon, the guards had moved away, and Xander had gasped ever so softly as he stared at man down.
"Who are you?"
The voice of the king roared throughout the throne room which made everyone show their pride as they stared at the outsider. He stood in the middle, staring at his king with a knowing glint in his eyes. His hair was something black and his eyes were onyx, his height ranged high and his cherry red lips held something sinister.
"I am Amos Avier and I hear that in this country... you are freely allowed to challenge the king whenever you may wish." The outsider says confidently as he raises an eyebrow towards the king, the queen and the two princes, who stood on either side with a glare pointed at him.
The king's eyes widened.
"What are you implying child?" The king asks. His voice was strong and unwavering but there was some slight fear. Amos could easily detect such things, he felt a twinge in his chest as a smirk slowly spread across his face like a deranged criminal.
The dark-haired boy took a moment to stare at a little prince standing to the right of his mother. Once the outsider's eyes fell on him, Xander stopped glaring and he shrunk back behind his mother in fear, the mere sight made the raven-haired smirk, fear it satisfied him. An added bonus was the fact that the prince was so damn stunning...
"Hmm... king Kim, if you don't mind me asking before I answer 'your' question, but how old are your princes? Especially..." he trailed off before pointing a finger at the small one hiding behind his mother. The king eyed him in suspicion before he followed the boy's finger onto his youngest son, Xander.
"Don't tell him dad!"
All heads turned toward the older prince who stood to the queen's left, he was a little taller and packed muscle. His silver hair sat neatly atop his head with a glare marring his face.
"Christian... Calm down and stay out of this." The king warned in a tone of worry before turning back to Jungkook.
"My eldest son is Christian and he's nineteen years old and my youngest, Xander is seventeen. What's it to you? Outsider." The king says confidently and with pride before smiling at his family in order to reassure them that everything is fine but the last word had made Amos' eyebrow twitch. His face contorting into one of fury before it flickered back to a smirk. Xander raised a surprised eyebrow at that because no one else seemed to notice.
"Ahh... I see, what a lovely family I must say. Too bad that it all has to go to waste." Amos smirked cockily and this had a few of the generals and swordsman in the room become unsettled. The king lifted his hand in order to silence everyone before he looked the outsider in the eye.
"State your business clearly boy." The king's voice had come out like a growl.
It seemed the air was frozen in time, the atmosphere was so thick, uneasy and as soon as Amos opened his mouth and uttered the next sentence, faith had seemed to take its path.
"I challenge you King Kim... For the place on the throne."
Everyone irrupted in screams and shouts at the very distasteful statement. Everyone was shocked and baffled as to why someone would challenge such a noble and amazing king. No one has ever challenged the throne in many years due to its peace but now...
Everything was changing.
"No dad!" Christian stepped forward with sword in hand but was stopped by his noble guardian, Yoon, who merely held out his hand.
"What are you doing Yoon!" Christian screamed at the small blonde in anger but with one look from Yoon, it had calmed the smaller down.
"Please... let the king handle in his own affairs." The blonde warned.
"The outsider has every right to challenge the king... We cannot go against our traditions." Yoon continued.
"B-but I'll be the next king." The prince whispered yeteveryone had heard him as it echoed around the throne room like a tease.
"Oh no no little boy..."
Amos spoke which made Christian snap his head up in his direction with narrowed and angry eyes.
"You're currently looking at him."
Amos concluded cockily before opening his arms out and smirking devilishly.
