Chapter THREE
It was one of those days where the sun had pierced through blazing and hot. Where if you just stood out in the sun too long, your skin felt as if it was burning up. Only a few clouds littered the sky and there was this cool wind whipping against everyone's faces and clothes.
As much as this seemed like a good day, it wasn't. Xander was lead to the arched box at the near bottom of the arena. It stood high for a few metres and gave a good view of the opponent and the action. The little boy had Amos in his mind the whole night last night, it wasn't a good thing.
He felt stressed, anxious and most of all scared.
Scared for the kingdom and scared for his family but most of all... For himself. The way Amos had settled his eyes on him and smirked, it had made his blood run cold.
Suddenly he was snapped out of his thoughts as the horn was blown, signalling the start of a fight. Most of the kingdom was there... If not all.
Xander peered down and the mere sight had him feeling dizzy.
The king stood at one side of the arena with a silver sword in hand and armour, he was feeling nervous as he stared at Amos on the other side who wore a usual smirk. The king usually would never feel so threatened but the way the smaller’s eyes reflected revenge and anger had made him think twice.
The entire kingdom was present in the large arena, the king's wife and sons sat in one of the balconies. Christian gripped onto the railing as he eyed both participants in anxiousness. The queen took a hold of his hand and this made his head fling toward her in anger but instantly softened when he noticed it was his mother,
"Don't worry Christian, your dad's got this. No newcomer could just waltz in here and defeat him." She smiled gently and this seemed to make Christian feel so much better.
Xander on the other hand sat quietly as he watched everything unfurl around him. He was lost and confused.. Everything happened so fast and there was this hard pounding fear in his heart. He had a very bad feeling... He had a feeling that blood would be spilled but it would be the blood of the unexpected.
"Draw your weapons!" The general screamed so that everyone could hear and instantly Amos parted his legs and swung the sword above his head with such amazing speed that no one could've seen it and with a slow thrust, his sword was yielded forward. I think that's when everyone's nervousness finally settled in.
The king slowly drew his weapon.
"There are two options in this game." The general said nervously as his eyes darted from male to male,
"Allow your opponent to yield or... Kill them." The man said the last part slowly before he took a few steps back to give them some space.
"Let the challenge begin!!"
-
Gasps filled the arena and a shrill scream echoed throughout it.
"NO!! NO!! THIS CAN'T BE!!!"
Everyone was shocked to see that it was the queen that nearly flung herself off the balcony at the sight of her husband being stabbed straight through the heart. His lifeless body hung on Amos' sword. Christian felt tears spring out of his eyes at the sight of his dead father and his screaming hysterical mother.
"SOMEBODY DO SOMETH-"
The queen's screams came to an abrupt stop when a dagger whizzed through the air and lodged itself into her throat instantly killing her. Her limp body fell to the floor.
Xander stared with widened eyes at his mother, he hadn't realized that her blood had stained his face, too paralysed... Losing two parents in one go.. He stared in utter disbelief. No, he couldn't accept this. This was all just a silly dream.
Amos smirked as he played with the second dagger and walked towards the balcony steps. They were stately, confident and filled with pride. Someone who wasn't aware of what had just occurred would have just stopped to admire his beautiful stature but now.. It wasn't the case.
People feared it.
No one dared to move, they had no right to do anything because standing before them...
Was their new king.
He ascended the steps until he jumped over the short rail and smirked towards the little boy cradled in the corner holding his ears in trauma.
He began to walk toward him but was stopped instantly when Christian drew his sword and pushed it against Amos' neck,
"DONT!!" Christian screamed but he too stood in shock when his very own guardian, Yoon pulled out a sword on him and pressed it against Christian's neck.
"Y-Yoon... W-what are yo-"
"I'm sorry master Christian... But ... 'he' is the new king and I now follow him." The blonde whispered with sad eyes and Christian couldn't help but glare at him betrayed. His tears batting down rapidly but he was silent.
Amos smirked at the action and ignored them before he walked toward the small crouched brunette. The only thing he saw right now... Was that sweet, beautiful beauty cradled into the corner.
His hand moving fast as he gripped the smallers jaw and forced him to look up, Xander whimpered as the tears finally started to flow as he was now face to face with his parent’s murderer. Everything had now settled for him, he finally realised what had just happened as all the flashes of memory came back to him.
Xander, the poor boy sat with his mother's blood splattered in streaks across his face and tears softly fell as if they too gave up in making a sound.
"Beautiful..." Amos mutters before he mockingly traces his finger over the boy’s soft flawless skin before stopping at his lips. The smallers lips were plush, pink and untouched. What a tempting sight for the older.
"Are you ready to rule alongside your king... My queen."
