Chapter 8: Promotion
Danielle walked towards the elevators and pressed the button for the legal team’s floor. She went back to her desk with a long face, anxious of when Mrs. Jacobs would talk to her. She slumped in her office chair.
Reina wasn’t on her desk when she arrived from her interview. She felt more depressed that she’s got no one to talk to about what happened. She can’t even go back to her pending paperwork. She opened her computer and check her mail when Reina called her attention. “Danielle!” She walked towards her desk, beaming.
“I wish I could have that same energy even when the day is almost over.” She mumbled to herself.
“What’s with the long face?” Reina asked, grabbing a chair to sit next to her.
Danielle sighed soundly. “I think I'm gonna get suspension or worse, get fired." She told Reina.
Reina’s eyebrows met, she looked confused. "What are you talking about? Mrs. Jacobs asked me to help you get your things transferred to the suite floor first thing tomorrow. You got the post."
Her lips parted in shock while Reina looked ecstatic for her. She hugged her tight. Her colleagues and co-interns started congratulating her. She is so confused right now. Her interview sure as hell didn't go well.
But why is she transferring to the CEO's office?
"This is crazy, Reina." She whispered. “My interview didn’t go well.”
"Seemed like your new boss likes it when you look like this, wearing your torn jeans and your red hair in a messy bun." She teased.
She rolled her eyes. "Never mind! You’re not even listening to me.”
There seems to be no point telling Reina about what happened during the interview because she's more focused on the fact that she got the post.

"You're the only person I know who isn't happy getting a promotion!" Daryl stated after learning she'll get an increase on her salary as an intern now that she's going to be Parker's personal secretary.
Dylan finished chewing his food before talking. "You're just pressured, Dee. That's part of being a young adult. You must learn to adjust to things like that at work. If you really wanted to learn and improve your skills, there's no right or wrong place and time. You just have to make something out of the situation. Besides, most interns get to try new things at work."
Daryl nodded. "Yes, it's called the intern card! Most of the time, you get to have the fun part at work. Besides a promotion means more opportunities. Not to mention the money, li’l sis."
"It's just eighteen months internship or working for him. It's nothing." Dylan encouraged her.
"Besides, it would be exhausting to start over! Looking for another company that accepts internships. Going through all the interviews and waiting for a call to be accepted. That's pretty tiring just thinking about it now."
She smiled. Her brothers have a point. It sure is a waste if she would quit Neumann. It's a great opportunity to work for the company. Much more to work for the owner of the company. It is a great honor.
"Thank you." She smiled and had a change of heart. She's now more determined to finish her eighteen-month long internship at Neumann.
By hook or by crook.

Reina left after making sure Danielle has all the things she needs in her new office at the suite floor. Reina told her she's not been to the CEO’s office floor all her years at Neumann and even considered herself lucky being friends with Danielle.
Reina is ecstatic she get to see the office floor for the first time. She reminded Danielle to still be in touch before she left.
She walked her out to the lobby and then came back to organize her desk, started setting up her things and computer.
It's past eight in the morning and she wondered if Parker has changed his work schedule to another time. She didn't see him come in. She immediately checked her email if there was any update from him or Mrs. Jacobs but there's none.
She picked up the phone and started dialing his cellphone number when she heard a loud thud inside his office.
She wondered if someone got in. Feeling curious, she stands up from her chair and walked towards Parker’s office door. She realized that the door was ajar.
She holds the door handle, pushing it slightly as she pops her head to check what the sound was about.
Her jaw was wide open as she held her breath when she saw a blonde woman sitting on Parker’s desk with her legs exposed as her short skirt lifts up. She gasped as both of them looked at her direction. ”S—Sorry. I didn't mean to." Then she closed the door shut.
She covered her mouth with her hand before she breathes long and hard to calm herself. Her heart is beating so fast. It may seem like an office cliche but rumor has it that his new boss have different women visit him in his office. She just didn't think she would see it with her own eyes.
She bites her lower lip. This adds to my list of embarrassing encounters with him! Ugh!
