Chapter 6

CHAPTER 6

***Larissa***

My body hurt and I felt so weak as I followed the Rogues through the forest path. I don't know how long we had been walking, but it felt like forever. The last time I ate was yesterday morning and my stomach hurt so much.

My hands were tied together and I was being pulled by one of the rogues. I was tired, but I tried to keep up with him as fast as I could to reduce the pressure of the ropes on my wrist.

I looked up and saw a large gate up ahead. I'm guessing that's where we were going. Probably where I was going to spend the rest of my life.

It was easy escaping from the pack because it was Logan's coronation day and almost everyone was at the pack hall for the celebration.

Here, it would be impossible and they wouldn't bat an eyelid before killing me if they caught me.

The gates were slowly opened to let us pass through. I looked around the place. There were only a few small houses around and one large building. It was almost as big as the mansion back at the house.

Just being here, the air felt dangerous and unstable. It was nothing like the pack.

There was complete silence apart from the sound of the gates closing behind us, but it still felt like war could break out anytime. I could feel the hair on my skin stand.

"Walk faster," the man holding my ropes tugged at it. The biting pain in my wrist snapped me out of my thoughts and I walked faster towards him.

We got to the large building and guards at the door stopped us.

The leader showed them something on his arm and they nodded. One of the guards looked at me behind them and glanced back at the group leader with a raised eyebrow.

"Who is that one?" He asked.

"We found her, I thought maybe she could be useful for the General," he replied and the guard looked at me again hesitantly before nodding.

The other guards opened the door and they let us through.

"Hiyaahhhhh," I heard a man make a victorious sound. I looked to the left to see a small boxing ring. There were two men in it and one of them was on the floor.

The bigger man flexed his insanely huge muscles and raised his hands up as the small crowd cheered for him.

He went to the man who was lying on the floor, and trying to crawl away. He grabbed him by his left foot and swung him around before slamming him onto the floor. I heard bone cracking and he made a triumphant noise again, beating his chest proudly.

I glanced at the man on the floor. He didn't move a bit so I guessed he either passed out or was dead.

"Do you want to go up against him?" The Rogue holding my rope asked as he noticed I was staring, and he pulled me closer. I winced in pain as the ropes bit into my skin and I stumbled forward.

I almost lost balance, but I gained my footing and continued walking.

We got to a large room and there were some men gathered around in groups. The group of men closer to us sat around a table and were arm wrestling. I suddenly felt strange in my body and a strong scent filled my nostrils.

I looked away and my eyes naturally found a man sitting on a tall iron chair at the other end of the room. Our eyes met and he stood up.

He didn't take his eyes off me and he slowly walked closer.

"General, we found her in the woods running from her pack and brought her here," he ignored them and kept walking closer.

I could feel the fear of the other Rogues.

"We brought her here as an ordinary slave, we can kill her if you want to," the group leader said nervously thinking the General was mad at them for bringing me.

He still didn't respond and he stopped in front of me. He used his hand to force my chin up with an unreadable expression on his face.

"Mate."

PRESENTLY.

"You need to rest," I said as I put a sterilized cotton wool on the spot I just injected my patient with.

"Yes, thanks," she said, her lips barely moving.

"Monitor her heart rate and add 500 mills of epinephrine every hour," I instructed the nurse and packed up my test kit.

"If you notice anything strange, call me immediately," I said as I walked out, but I stopped at the door.

"Actually, I have a surgery in 30 minutes so contact Dr. Frank in case I'm unavailable," I added before walking out and closing the door.

I walked to my office and sighed as I sat down before my desk. I took off my lab coat and looked at the box of pizza I asked one of my interns to get me. I had to eat before going into the surgery.

It was a Laparoscopic aortic surgery that would take almost 6 hours so I had to eat well.

I opened the box of pizza and took a slice out of it. I reached for my phone in my pocket and switched it on. I had some missed calls from Jack.

He was probably calling to check on me and see how I was doing. He was a good man and he deserved the very best which was why it pained me to know I lied to him every day.

I wish I could tell him my true nature or show him who I really was, but it was dangerous and I didn't know how he would take it.

My kids have also grown to love him and see him as their father, I didn't want to jeopardize all that which was why the sudden letters from Logan scared me. I thought I was finally free of him.

I sighed and took a look at the time. I had just 20 minutes. I began to eat quickly and got filled up after having four slices. I closed the box and stood up so I could get ready for the surgery.

I stopped as I heard my office line ring so I went to answer it quickly.

"Hello, this is Dr. Lisa, how can I help you?" I asked.

There was a brief silence on the other end and I got impatient.

"He-"

"Larissa." I froze as I heard my name. It had been several years, but I still remembered that voice. How could I ever forget the voice of the man who used me and betrayed me?

Logan.
