CHAPTER 5

***Logan***

6 years ago.

"Where is she?!" I heard my mom shriek and I sighed in frustration. What was happening???

It was the morning after I was made the Alpha of the pack and I had claimed Alvina as my mate.

I looked at Alvina sleeping on the bed next to me before climbing out of bed.

I walked out of the room and followed my mom's voice. She was in front of Larissa's room and she looked so furious.

"What's the matter?" I asked, glancing into the room.

"It's that stupid traitor's daughter! She's not cleaned everything I asked her to and I can't find her anywhere," she said, obviously boiling with rage.

I looked into the room and raised my eyebrow in suspicion. Where did she go??

I couldn't pick up her scent and it bothered me.

I looked up and saw two men approaching.

"Hey, the two of you, have you seen Larisa around??" I asked and they shook their heads.

"No sir."

Fuck! I cursed under my breath and took one glance inside Larissa's room again before facing the men again.

"Gather some men and find her immediately. Make sure she doesn't escape or get too far," I said and they nodded before walking away.

Did she escape?? By the Moon. I didn't know what to think right now.

"That bitch better pray they don't find her or I'm going to make her life a living hell," my mom said before storming away in anger.

You make her life a living hell already, I thought to myself. I walked back to my room and walked to my closet so I could throw a shirt on and try finding her too.

I looked over my shoulder to see Alvina adjust on the bed. She slowly opened her eyes, and when she didn't see me on the bed next to her, she looked around the room before spotting me by the closet.

"Where are you going this early in the morning?" She asked, stretching on the bed.

"Larissa is missing, I have to go find her," I replied and I did the last button on my shirt.

"You're the alpha now, you can have anyone else find her," she replied in a displeased tone.

"I think she might be trying to escape and we can't let her or we'll lose our leverage over her father," I said. I lied.

That was in no way the reason why I wanted to find her. I didn't care what her father did or didn't do, I just needed to find her.

I saw her face yesterday during my coronation, she looked betrayed. There was nothing I could do, the bond with Alvina was so natural and strong.

I was a fool to think that Larissa wasn't my mate, I would leave whoever it was for her. Maybe I was selfish, but I still wanted to have her around.

I walked out of the room and nodded slightly as the maids and workers I passed by greeted me. As I got outside, I saw some men walk towards me holding something.

"We found this behind the mansion just at the foot of the forest," one of them said and handed me shredded pieces of clothes. They were shredded pieces of Larrissa's clothes.

I knew what this meant.

"It's her cloth, she shifted," one of them said, confirming what was in my mind.

She escaped. She ran away.

"Find her!" I commanded at the top of my voice.

PRESENTLY.

"How is he doing?" I asked the physician as I stood next to my dad's sick bed. His face looked completely drained of color and he looked so weak.

"I'm trying my best to keep him alive," the physician replied.

"Don't just keep him alive, make him wake up and be healthy!" I shouted in anger and slammed my fist on the side of the bed, making the metallic railing at the side crush.

This was the one hundredth and one time I would destroy it. Every time I look at my father lying here vulnerable and in pain, I want to beat the shit out of myself.

I caused this and I have to fix it.

"I'm meeting as many physicians as I can from other packs and provinces so I can find new ways to try and help him," the physician replied. I hissed and walked out of the room.

"Fucking useless," I muttered to myself as I stormed away. I noticed someone chasing me from behind and I stopped walking, looking over my shoulder to see that it was Derek.

"Anything yet?" He asked and I shook my head.

"No, he's still the same as yesterday, and the day before, and-"

"No, I mean have you heard from Larissa?" He asked, interrupting me and preventing me from going into another rage episode.

"She hasn't fucking said anything or acknowledged all of the letters I sent her!" I replied, gritting my teeth.

"She's fucking ignoring me," I added, clenching my fists so tight that my knuckles became white and started to hurt.

"Maybe-"

Derek stopped talking as Evan, the Pack's Gamma walked towards us from down the hallway. I looked at his hand and saw he was holding a letter.

"There's a letter for y-" Before he could even stop talking, I snatched the envelope from him and started ripping off the envelope.

I took out the letter and my eyes read through it quickly from top to bottom. I sighed and handed the letter to Derek who looked so curious.

I watched him read the letter and he looked up when he was done.

"You can go," he said, facing Evan who walked away quickly.

"She doesn't want anything to do with me again and she wants me to stay away from her," I stated as Evan got far away enough and Derek nodded.

"I guess we'll have to find other solutions," Derek said, but I shook my head.

"No, I don't think the physicians can keep my father alive for much longer," I said.

"Larissa is the only option we have and if I have to go see her myself and talk to her, then I will," I said.

"I don't think that's a good idea," Derek shook his head with a look of disapproval.

"Your father is down and if people find out that the Alpha is not in the pack........ Well, I don't think I have to tell you what could happen," Derek stated.

He was right. I couldn't leave the pack. Alvina isn't Luna anymore because I rejected her after the betrayal and my father was ill. If anyone found out there was a blank in power, it could cause panic. Or worse, anyone could try to seize the pack.

"Alright," I said and walked away. I went to my room, closing the door and hurrying to my dressing table.

I searched through it and found a card I got earlier. It had Larissa's office line.

I can speak to her without going to her.
