Chapter 4

Diego

I probably heard her wrong,I thought but she repeated it. I was simply shocked by her guts. Why would she want to come with me? Either she liked it or not she was going to come with me one way or the other anyways. However,I didn't know it would be this quick.

I know her type, she's probably head over heels for me. She must have seen that I was accessing her and the situation because she talked again.

“ I don't feel safe here anymore, who knows maybe I'll be attacked here again? she said

“Is that what you want?” I asked her again and she nodded. I asked her because I thought it was better for her to be in the hospital and get enough treatment. I wouldn't want any more trouble or rumors about me being the cause of her predicament.

“Aren't you just recuperating?” I asked her genuinely.

“Didn't they say you were rich?” She asked, folding her hands on her chest. “I'm sure you'll get someone to take care of me if the need arises, just get me away from this place and from this woman” she said eyeing her mother with enmity.

Feisty one this one, I thought. I beckoned to the guy at the door, he moved towards me and I gave him instructions on what to do. He bowed and left the room.

“Get her things, " I commanded the girl beside her who looked like her friend. She nodded timidly and began packing Dian's stuff into a small bag, within minutes she was through and had everything packed.

“It's ready boss” the guard said to me when he came back. I waited till the little miss timid finished and told me she was ready.

“Shall we?” I asked Diana and she led the way. Suddenly she stopped mid way and I bumped into her. What the fuck is she trying to do?

“I don't ever want to see you and your husband again. You've sold me to the highest bidder. Who knows maybe you'll find your stupid son or not. I'll probably die in his house. Since you threw me out willingly. I'm cutting ties with you too,” she said to her mother through her teeth

“Dian—”her mother tried calling her but she cut her off with anger

“Don't you dare!” She screamed and turned towards the door without looking back for once.

As we walked out, she told me to allow her friend whom she called Tonia to let her come with her to the house incase she wants to see her but I disagreed.

“My home is not a gallery, I don't just let people go in and out the way they like, " I told her sternly. Even if she'll come, it won't be today. I told her sternly and we got in the car.

She entered the car as quietly and quickly as she could without uttering a word. Throughout the drive, I could feel her gaze on me even though my eyes were closed.

“Out with it,” I said with my eyes still closed. “Do you intend to bore a hole through my head? You've been staring at me all day,” I said, confronting her.

“ I have nothing to say to you”, she said.

“That's what I thought,” I said and she kept quiet

“Do you have a boyfriend?” I asked her suddenly,opening my eyes. She was taken back but answered me anyway.

“I used to have one just until days ago but now I do not, he cheated with my best friend,” she replied.

“Fine , because I don't want to have to worry about one silly boyfriend sniffing around my prize.” I told her.

“I'm not your prize, for your information.” She refuted fuming. “I'm only here till you find my brother like you said you would. And just so you know, I can't wait to be free from you because if anything, I hate having to deal with mafias,” she said.

“What made you think your brother would be found anytime soon?” She eyed me suspiciously and

I laughed sinisterly but said nothing while we drove home silently.

I wish she knew what she had gotten herself into .

The car stopped at the front of mansion and I stepped out and she also did too walking with me inside the house.

My workers were already lining up when we entered. They all bowed when they saw us.

“This is Diana, she'll be staying with us now, they all introduce themselves f but she didn't seem to be paying attention as she was still checking her environment.

“Take her to her room,” I said, instructing one of the girls who scurried out to take her bag from the car. She returned with her bags and helped her in.

I checked my wrist watch and saw that I still had time to work before night. I turned back and went out of the house.

I have a business to finish and I must finish it today unfailingly.

I had the dining table set with varieties of food both local and international cuisines. I had a surprise for my prize and I must make sure she is very impressed.

On my left hand sits a young man, I could smell his fear from afar and the smell is as thick as a forest.

I smiled to myself because I knew what was still in store for him.

I watched his shaky hands pick his fork but it clattered back on the plate.

“Get her for me,” I instructed one of the cooks. She rushed upstairs to call on her. She returned within seconds but without her. She informed me that my prize had refused to come downstairs.

I became angry and stood up. I walked with angry strides upstairs into her room.

“What stupid games are you playing?” I asked her.

“I'm playing no games, I just don't want to eat in the same place as you. I want my food brought up to my room.” She told me adamantly.

“Your room? Need I remind you that the whole of the rooms in this house is mine?” I told her. “So far you are in this house, you'll listen to me and follow my instructions!” I again but she wouldn't budge.

“Guard!” I shouted at once because I couldn't have more of her childish behavior. The guard stated by her door came in.

“Carry her” , I instructed and I walked out of the room while the guard carried her,following me closely.

“Drop her,” I said and he did, she began raining all sorts of insults on me without stopping while I said nothing but fixed my gaze on the young man seated by the table.

She was surprised at my calmness and followed my gaze when she saw him.

“Carter?”
