Chapter 5

We arrived at the enormous gate to the mansion as the bus slowly entered. It was hard to not be scared because I don't know what might happen to me once I get into the main mansion, but being in front of the gates alone looked like the gates of hell.

The pack house used to be a lively place with the friendly Alpha and Luna; they would constantly throw parties in the house and invite all of the wolves in the Serene Pack, but I don't think there would be a thing like a party here anymore.

Ariel and I both entered the house and were shocked to see our mistress there already. We had left her behind in the school, and it was creepy that she was here first.

"I'll give you your room numbers, and you're all to share a room with two other students," she said, and some of her workers brought a heavy box, probably containing keys.

I silently prayed that Ariel and I happen to be in the same room because I don't think I would keep my sanity if I'm away from her.

"Next!" She called, and it was suddenly my turn. She glanced at me for a while before signalling with her eyes to move away from the line.

I had no idea why she wanted me to be away from the line as I stared at Ariel, who was behind me in confusion.

She handed a key over to Ariel and told the two girls behind her to follow her to their room. I felt sad that I wouldn't be in the same room with Ariel, but then why would she have separated me?

After waiting for what seemed like days, she was finally through with distributing the keys, and her cold eyes suddenly fell on me.

"You'll be coming with me," she said.

"Excuse me!" I unintentionally spilled out. I had first thought she wanted me to stay in the same room with her, but I didn't care to think she might just want me to follow her.

She cocked her arched brow at me, and I had to remove my eyes from her burning glare.

I followed behind as she walked through the dark corridors and finally got to a door. I was sincerely tired of her always leading me to a closed door, but I prayed Alaric wouldn't be there this time.

My prayers were answered the moment she opened the door to the most beautiful and furnished room I have ever seen. Even though it was painted in plain white, the interior designs meant everything, so somehow I thought it might have been the Luna's room.

"It was the Luna's room," she abruptly said, like she was listening to my thoughts. Perhaps I have to check myself to make sure my mind isn't broken.

"Well, why am I here?" I managed to summon up the courage in me to ask her, but I was glad there wasn't a look of annoyance on her face.

"It's your room now," she said, turning to walk away, leaving me in shock.

"Why is this heaven ours?" My wolf, Lora, asked in confusion, but how would I answer her if I didn't know the answer either?

"I also don't know Lora," I replied as I strolled into the room, admiring every corner. There wasn't one imperfection in the room, but the only thing that was missing was Ariel.

"You like it?" A deep voice growled behind me, and I shook in fear as I turned to see Alaric standing by the door, still with a cold look on his face.

"Uhm, yeah," I quietly said, but I immediately noticed something weird about him. I studied him for a while, trying to find out what it could be because he looked completely different and more handsome.

"His hair!" Lora exclaimed, and I gawked at his new haircut. He wasn't wearing his usual long hair anymore but was now wearing short hair. Oh god, does he look so hot.

"Is it the hair or the room?" I asked and immediately shut my mouth. I had no idea where this confidence sometimes comes from whenever I'm around him.

For the first time since I've met the ferocious wolf, a smile tucked at the corner of the lips almost made me drool over how hot he was with the smile and hair cut, almost looking like a model from the gram.

He took some steps closer to me, and I could feel my breath seizing. I really wished he didn't come any closer; otherwise, I could suffocate here.

"The room, Lenora," his voice growled, and I nodded my head before clearing my throat.

"It's nice..."

"Then it's yours henceforth," he told me before I could finish my statement.

"But it's missing something," I replied under my breath, hoping he didn't find it offensive. I'm happy with his kindness towards me, but at the same time, I was scared to say anything that'd make it sound like I was ungrateful. I wouldn't want to die in front of the whole school; hell, I don't mind as long as Tala isn't there.

"What could that be?" His brows furrowed while his emerald eyes pierced into my soul.

"Ariel," I whispered under my breath, but he heard me anyway.

"This room is solely for you and no one else," he said, before walking out of the room and banging the door really hard.

I felt like I might have said the wrong thing, or perhaps this could be more of a prison than just a beautiful room. I hope not.

It was late, and it has been a long day so far with all of the dramas that happened today. It somehow felt like it happened in a week, but unfortunately and surprisingly, everything happened on just a school day. I wondered if we would still attend school since we're all camped in this prison.

I tried to sleep but couldn't seem to calm myself because I felt like the devil's son could walk in any moment from now on, and I definitely don't want to be asleep while he lurks in my room.

I remembered the room number on Ariel's key, and an idea came to me; perhaps I could just sleep beside her tonight, and maybe I'll be able to sleep alone tomorrow.

Without making much of a noise, I folded my blankets in my hands and opened the door. It creaked a little, and I almost had a heart attack. The wolves here could definitely hear the sound, but I hope they don't mind it.

I strolled down the dark corridors in fear, but I was sure it'd be worth it once I got to Ariel's room. I finally got to her room and turned on my flashlight.

I flashed the light under the door, and after some seconds, the door suddenly flung open with the fierce, burning eyes of my friend. Her eyes calmed the moment she saw me, and she let me in.

"You shouldn't be here, you know?" She sarcastically stated the obvious, and I rolled my eyes.

"I'll leave very early; no one would know," I pleaded, and she heaved a deep breath before letting me in.

I snuggled closer to her on the small bed so I wouldn't fall off and probably scream; that wouldn't be good for me. I somehow felt uncomfortable with the way Ariel was sleeping in a room that was way below her class, whereas I slept in a well-furnished room.

My eyes fluttered open, and I searched for my phone to check the time on it. It was five a.m., and I must have fallen asleep after making myself comfortable on the bed.

I carefully stood up from the tiny bed in order to not wake her up as I quietly left her room to return to mine before more wolves would wake up. Fortunately for me, no one had woken up yet. I bet they all had a long day.

I tiptoed to my room and opened the creaking door, shutting it tight and carefully afterwards.

I heaved a deep sigh of relief at the thought that I had successfully carried out my mission.

"Where were you?" A cold voice growled in my room, and I yelled in fear before turning on the lights to see Alaric seated with his legs crossed on my bed while his eyes stared straight at me.

I knew I must have gotten myself into trouble as I swallowed the heavy lump of saliva down my throat.

"Ariel's room; I'm so sorry." I immediately apologised, hoping it would soften his mind a bit, even though I doubted it.

"You don't get to disobey me!" He yelled, and my whole body trembled.

He closed his eyes for a moment with his fists folded tight. He released a breath in an attempt to calm himself before walking out of the room.

I noticed how weak my legs quickly became, and I tried to balance myself on the bed. His thunderous voice must have woken the rest of the wolves, because in no time I heard footsteps roaming around the house.

I don't think I would disobey his command anytime soon, because he could look dangerously scary when angry.

The sun rose not quite long after, and I went into the bathroom to take my shower. The cold water had loosened my tensed muscles, and I felt better.

I came out of the bathroom feeling a little bit okay but became sad when I realised that I had no clothes to wear but the old and filthy clothes I wore earlier on.

I heaved a deep sigh as I wore the cloth that had a foul odour already. Yesterday was a particularly long day for me, so I certainly did not anticipate it to smell so rosy.

The mistress called for everyone's attention soon, and I walked out of the room with the same cloth. I could hear some students mocking me, but I couldn't feel any more depressed than I already was.

"Why are you in the same clothes?" Ariel questioned me as she looked at me with an irritating expression.

"No one brought clothes for me," I lamented, but I immediately focused on what the mistress had to say because I really didn't want her to pity me.

"In conclusion, you'll school here, but everyone has the same subject daily." She finished and dismissed everyone to the field. We were in a training class, and I always flopped. I kind of felt sad about school resuming, but then I had just 2 more years, and then I'd be out of Wolf High School and be transferred to a college. The thought of leaving Wolf High School and entering a college filled me with sadness; I didn't want to attend any more schools.

As soon as our coach, Asher, began to teach, the devil's son majestically walked up to us. I could see the amount of hatred in Asher's eyes, and somehow they made me hate Alaric more.

"Lenora Hunter!" His voice roared across the field and immediately made me snap out of my thoughts, while my eyes widened in awe at the number of people who turned to look at me.

After getting my attention, he didn't say any more words as he turned his back and walked away, but I knew he must have needed me, so I immediately walked away from the field and followed behind him while the rest of the wolves started.

"Get in," he said as soon as we arrived in front of a car. He got into the driver's seat while I sat in the other seat at the front. My heart raced really fast because I had no idea what he must be up to or why I was in his car.

"Where the fuck are we going?" Lora whimpered, but at this point, I wished I knew the answer.
