CHAPTER FOUR

I cleaned the house first thing in the morning. As compared to yesterday, I felt like it wasn’t tiring at all because I thoroughly cleaned the house already. In fact, I finished before lunch time so I had the time to relax at the living room while Kent is cooking for our lunch.

I saw some novels in Kyra’s room so I brought one downstairs so I could read while waiting for our lunch. I was in the middle of my reading when Kent suddenly came and sat in a sofa in front of me.

“Do you have any plans for today?” He asked in a calm manner.

I looked at him in confusion because he usually talks to me either in a cold way or with a shout. I guess he woke up in the right side of the bed a while ago.

“I might go the mall,” I answered in the same way he asked. “I’m not really sure. Why?”

“My friends are coming over and the house will be filled with noise which might interrupt your reading. I’m just informing you so that you won’t be annoyed later,” he explained – still in a calm manner.

I’m really wondering why he suddenly changed. Did Kyra talk to him to change his behavior?

“Do you need anything from me?” I asked since he’s showing kindness right now.

After all, he’s giving me a favor for me to have a place to stay. I guess I must live with our deal that I must be his slave.

“I’m glad you asked. I need you to buy a case of beer in the store after our lunch.” He answered.

“Sure.”

He then invited me to eat for lunch since he’s already done cooking. I must say that this guy surely knows how to cook – something that I feel like I can never be good at.

I washed the dishes after lunch while he proceeds upstairs in his room to prepare for the coming of his friends. After washing the dishes, I went back to the kitchen table where he left the money that I’ll be using to buy a case of beer. I then proceeded outside and went to the store right in front of our house.

When the vendor gave me the case of beer, I was surprised when I tried to lift it up because I didn’t expect it to be that heavy.

How will I carry this? Shall I call Kent to carry this because I can’t?

“Need help?” A guy asked while looking at me.

I was hesitant to answer at first because I was too shy to ask for help from a stranger but I know that I can’t carry it alone so I swallowed my pride before answering.

“Yes, please.”

He then smiled before lifting the whole case as if it’s not heavy for him.

“Where do I bring this?” He asked.

“There,” I answered while pointing at Kent’s house.

He started walking so I followed. After we reach Kent’s house, I can’t help but to really feel shy because I caused him inconvenience.

“Thank you so much,” I said as he put the case down.

“No worries. It’s not a big deal,” he answered – still, with a smile on his face. “Do you stay here?” He suddenly asked.

“Yup,” I answered shortly.

“You’re just new here, aren’t you?” He asked again.

Talking with strangers is not my thing but since I asked him a favor, I feel like I have to talk to him. Besides, I can sense that he’s a good person so I don’t see any problem in doing so.

“Yup,” I answered again. “I just transferred not more than a week ago.”

“I knew it. You don’t look familiar to me,” he then said. “By the way, my name is Johann. And you are?”

He then extended his arms to shake with mine as he introduced himself. I gladly reached for it before proceeding to say my name, “I’m Sol.”

After shaking our hands, there was a little awkwardness between us because no one tried to talk until both of us laughed at the same time.

“If you need a friend, I just live nearby. You can come at our house anytime you want,” he offered me which I find very kind for someone who just met me.

“Isn’t it embarrassing? Your parents might wonder how you met me,” I told him.

“They’re working in another country. I just live with my brother who’s not here right now because they’re having their retreat at school,” he explained which I nodded as an acknowledgement of what he said.

“Sure, then,” I answered.

After all, I will be bored with just staying at Kent’s house all the time so it’s really good that I’ll have somewhere to go to.

“I have to go now. See you around, Sol!” He bid goodbye with a smile so I did the same.

I don’t know him entirely yet but I’m loving his attitude and aura already because I can feel that he’s a light person totally different from Kent.

When he left, I diverted back my attention to the case and immediately think of a way on how I can bring this inside.

I guess I should just use my feet to drag this going in to at least bring it right in front of the door.

When I’m about to drag the case already, Kent suddenly came with a teasing look on his face.

“So, you have a lover now, huh?”
