CHAPTER FIVE
I was about to go to the mall now when my phone suddenly rang. Upon checking it, I saw Kyra's name so I answered it immediately.
“Hi!” I greeted her. She then laughed at me so I got really curious.
“Chill out!” She stopped me while still laughing. “Why are you so hyped up?”
“I’m not,” I denied even though I really greeted her in a hyped up way. Now I know why she was laughing. “Why did you call all of a sudden?”
“Just checking up if you’re still alive,” she jokingly answered. I knew instantly that she is subtly saying that her brother might cause my death.
“Well, you know what? Your brother’s not that rude, Ky,” I defended him even though I can clearly say that Kyra was just joking.
“Oooh. Why are you defending him now?” She teasingly asked me. “Is there a progress between you two?” She asked further.
“Silly! I didn’t even say yes to you,” I blurted out.
“You can change your mind any time, my friend,” she continued on teasing me.
I chuckled as an answer for that because I know that she won’t stop teasing me if I don’t stop on defending myself. “Anyways, your brother invited his friends over and I’ll be out of the house for maybe three hours or I don’t know,” I changed the topic.
“As much as I want to join you but I have a job tonight and I need to sleep now so that I’ll have my energy later,” she answered. I knew that already so I didn’t think of inviting her over anymore.
“I understand, Ky. I guess you should start resting now,” I suggested.
“I’m actually about to rest already before I called you,” she informed me. “Anyways, I’m glad to know that you are okay. I have to go now, Sol. Bye!”
“Bye!” I answered back.
When she dropped the call, I’ve decided to leave already because I already heard random noises which makes me think that the boys are already in here.
I didn’t bother to inform Kent about leaving since I already told him that I might go to the mall today. Besides, I’m too shy to show up to his friends because it would be better if they won’t know that I’m living with Kent under the same roof.
When I got out of the house, I immediately noticed that familiar guy who helped me a while ago. Upon noticing me, he waved his hands and went towards my direction.
“It’s you again,” he greeted me.
We both chuckled at the same time.
“Yeah. It’s me again,” I awkwardly answered.
“Where are you going?” He asked.
“Maybe to the mall. I really don’t know,” I answered uncertainly because I’m really not sure where I want to go right now. All I know is that I want to get out of the house because there is a lot of people inside. “What about you? You just came to the store a while ago, didn’t you?”
I just find it weird that we were both in the store a while ago and he came back now - unless he forgot to buy something.
“I actually forgot to buy what I needed. I just came back now upon realizing that I don’t have a soy sauce,” he shyly answered.
“I’m sorry. It must have been my fault,” I apologized.
If I didn’t bother him a while ago, maybe he won’t forget it.
“No!” He denied. “I tend to be forgetful most of the time. It’s not your fault.”
There was an awkward silence between the two of us after that. Nobody wanted to talk until he spoke again.
“Have you eaten your lunch already?” He asked.
“I actually have but I’m still hungry so I might eat at the mall,” I answered.
“Well, I’ve cooked a lot for lunch. You can eat at my place if you really don’t have any plans today,” he suggested.
“You don’t have to bother, you know?” I answered, low-key rejecting his offer. We’ve just met and it’s weird if I eat at his place just upon knowing him.
“You are my friend now. It’s not of a big deal,” he kept on insisting. “Let’s play after so that we have something to do until you decide to go back here in Kent’s house.”
I thought about it. I really don’t have anything to do at the mall right now except for chilling or maybe watching a movie so I guess it would be better if I try to accept his invite for now.
“Since you kept on insisting, I’ll say yes.”
He then leads our way towards their house. Just like Kent’s, it’s so big given the fact that only him and his brother live here.
Right upon entering, I immediately smelled the food that he has prepared for today and I will admit that it made me hungry.
“I’m sorry for the smell. I cooked fried fish just a little while ago so the smell is still here,” he shyly apologized upon noticing that I smell the air.
“It’s okay,” I told him. “You don’t have to apologize over everything, you know? Besides, I actually loved the smell because I knew right away that you cooked fried fish.”
“Do you love fishes too?”
“I do.”
He then invited me towards their kitchen started preparing for our meal.
“Let’s have strawberry ice cream afterwards. I made it yesterday.”
