Chapter 9 What Are You Doing in My Room in the Middle of the Night?

Callie chatted with Tobias some more and stayed with her father until after five. She did some grocery shopping at the supermarket before taking the bus back to Paucaster Villa Complex.

After Callie had dinner, Nelson still wasn't back. So Callie went to her room, and went to sleep after washing up.

Then she woke up from thirst in the middle of the night.

So she went downstairs sleepily and drank a glass of water before going back to bed.

At two in the morning, Nelson finally returned from a social event.

He went in his room, turned on the light, and stopped short on his way to the bathroom.

'What is she doing in my bed!’

Callie was wearing a simple cotton nightgown. Her sleeping posture was quite unconventional, with her long, fair legs exposed.

Nelson's eyes darkened.

He stepped forward and grabbed Callie's arm.

"Callie!"

"Hmm... What are you doing?" Callie rubbed her eyes and shook off his hand, glaring at him. "What are you doing in my room at night?"

Nelson's face was cold. "Take a good look around. Whose room is this?"

Hearing these words, Callie woke up fully.

She looked around and saw that this was Nelson's room! She had entered the wrong room!

realizing this, Callie's previous anger soon vanished. She got out of bed carefully and apologised, "Sorry, I'm sorry, I was half-asleep and came to the wrong room by mistake."

"By mistake?" Nelson looked at her with scrutinizing eyes. Clearly, he didn't believe her at all.

"Was it a mistake or did you do it on purpose?"

Callie explained sternly, "Really, it was a mistake! I..."

Nelson didn't want to hear it anymore and cut her off with an icy voice, "Get out!"

Callie snorted and hurriedly left.

Nelson felt quite annoyed about suddenly having a woman in the villa, but for now he had to tolerate it and live together with her.

If not, his grandfather, who sent someone to spy on them, would doubt they were in fake marriage.

After taking a shower, Nelson lay down on the bed, only to find the lingering scent of Callie on his pillow. He frowned slightly and couldn't help but recall the way she was sleeping when he came in.

Feeling even more irritated, he got up, changed all the bed linens, and finally fell asleep.

It just so happened that the next morning, Callie bumped into Nelson as she was leaving.

They left the villa separately, one taking a Rolls-Royce, the other walking one kilometer to catch the bus.

Callie never expected Nelson to offer her a ride to work. He had long warned her not to reveal their marriage at the company.

Barely seated at her desk, Callie was called into her director's office.

Callie was an interior designer. Her leader Garrett Montes, who was in his thirties, was the director of the design department.

He had always disliked Callie ever since she rejected his advances when she first joined the company.

"Callie, you’re either taking leave, or skipping work! Do you have any respect for me as your director? Have you finished the design for Brier Hill Residence?"

Brier Hill Residence was a newly developed real estate project by Oconnor Group. Currently, they were selecting an interior design plan from the numerous submissions by their designers.

Callie, busy with other matters, hadn't had any time to work on it these days.

She pursed her lips and said, "Mr. Montes, the task was assigned just two days ago. There's still a week left."

Plus, even if she did submit the design, there was no way that they would choose hers. Though Callie was quite talented, she had been consistently suppressed by this director the past few years, leaving her with no opportunity to prove her abilities.

"Are you talking back to me? People like you will be fired sooner or later!"

"Forget it, now, go print these documents for me!"

Callie rolled her eyes in exasperation. Another errand to run!

'I am now the CEO's wife, maybe someday I'll ask Mr. Oconnor to fire you instead!' She fantasised, but of course, none of this was possible. So she took the documents to the printer as asked.
