Chapter 2

/Ivory's POV/

The haunting wind whispered eerie secrets as the cold night breeze swept past me and I shivered.

The crescent moon hung low in the sky, casting a soft, silver glow over everything in sight. The world was hushed as if it had been put to sleep by the gentle light.

I looked up at the sky with tears streaming down my face.

"Why me?" I screamed as my heart twisted in my chest and my knees buckled as silent sobs racked through my body.

I didn't know for how long I had been walking heading to nowhere in particular with disheveled hair, my eyes were red from crying ruining my perfect eye shadow, and mascara I had on my face which had been smeared.

Walking barefoot with my shoes clutched in my hands as one of the heels had broken off.

My legs ached so much that it hurt, people stared at me with different expressions on their faces.

I had been betrayed, by my fiance, who cheated on me with my best friend Clara. I had been betrayed by someone who portrayed a mother figure to me. I met Clara in high school and we passed through every phase of our lives together, her Mom was like a Mom to me, she's my soul sister.

I loved Jason and we have been dating for three years now which he proposed to me after his graduation ceremony from college just a few months ago when I was just in my third year in college.

I remembered the dreamy yet happy look when he proposed to me kneeling, confessing his love, and slipping the rings on my finger.

What could have ever gone wrong, what did I do to deserve this treatment, am I cursed asking myself as I broke down again into silent sobs holding my chest as my knees wobbled to the ground?

My knees wobbled to the ground as I screamed falling and sitting on the ground.

I raised my head and realized I was alone, there was no one in the street. As I trekked through the lonely street with no signs of humans, my heart raced with adrenaline and fear. It was getting darker and I could feel the cold grasp of the night tightening its hold on the surroundings.

Everywhere was silent, I couldn't hear the dogs that barked at night. As I walked through the dark and eerie streets, I could feel the chill in the air.

I walked further and realized it led to a forest with a notice board in front of it, there was a danger zone, keep off. I didn't even know where I was.

I needed something to take my pains away and forget all that happened to me, I don't give a damn about it as I stepped my foot into the forest.

I was shivering from the cold since I had yanked off my woolly coat from my long-sleeved A-Line midi red gown with the belt at Clara's house. I rubbed my hands together as I wrapped them around myself.

As I ventured into the dense forest, my heart raced a hint of fear. My father had always warned me about weird stories that people encountered in the forest when we were still close cause he's a cop more like the community hunter.

With each step, the air grew thicker and the trees seemed to close in on me. My mind keeps telling me to go back with echoes of my father's warning in my head.

Suddenly, a loud growl echoed through the forest and my body froze in terror. My heart beat rapidly in my chest, and I couldn't shake off the feeling of unease.

Fear gripped me as I continued sobbing which I had stopped earlier as I lacked the strength to, I leaned on the bark of a tree reminiscing on my joyful moments with my Dad.

As a single father, he tried to bring me up with different obstacles he encountered, the joyful moments went into pause when I graduated from high school and entered college.

He always looked so distant, cutting me off with a quick reply when I asked him a question, it feels so unbearable having no one to care for me, no one to give me fatherly love or motherly love.

Everything became a nightmare for me to live, for me to breathe I could ended my life now if I was to be eaten by a wild animal rather than die from depression. I have been acting strong all my life but I couldn't keep on living.

Tears streamed down my cheeks as I was too weak to sob loudly, a loud growl echoed through the trees again, causing me to freeze in fear.

My heart stopped as I looked up to see a massive black ferocious beast glaring down at me with its sharp teeth bared.

The vicious creature, clad in fur, was on all fours and staring at me with bloodshot eyes. Panic consumed me as I tried to think of a way out of this situation.

But just as I started to feel some relief at putting distance between myself and the unknown creature, I stumbled over a large root and fell to the ground. I struggled to get up, a huge shadow loomed over me.

I waited for the attack as I closed my eyes, ready to be devoured by the beast. A gunshot rang through the forest as I opened my eyes to see who could have come to my rescue.

The vicious creature turned his direction to my Dad as I opened my mouth agape while silently sobbing conveying a message through my eyes to my father.

It was already late as the beast leaped into the air and yanked my Dad off.

"Ivory, run and I am sorry ". He shouted pleading with his eyes, his voice echoing in the forest as he was been dragged by the vicious beast.

I let out a piercing shriek as I witnessed my Dad being devoured by the ferocious beast, my heart pounding in my ribcage as silent sobs racked through my body for the terrible mistake endangering his life.

"Run". The words keep ringing in my head but my legs refuse to move from the excruciating pain.

I was breathing heavily and covered in blood as I struggled to stood up and run, and with my heart still thumping fiercely in my chest.

The ferocious beast materializes out of nowhere and charges at me with incredible speed as I closed my eyes waiting to be devoured by the vicious beast.

I awoke to a loud banging on my head and realised that I was in my room and not dreaming about the images from the previous night.

The faint chirping of birds and the golden rays of sunlight that peeked through the curtains on my window made me realize it was already morning.

Limping to the kitchen to take a cup of water, clutching the walls for support, I gulped down the water, My throat felt so dry like I hadn't taken water for a whole day.

"No, no It can't be," I tucked in my upper lip with a slackened mouth.

I kept quiet staring blankly, my mind in a mess as I couldn't decipher what happened last night, how I got home, how I found myself on the bed alive if truly it wasn't a nightmare.

Having these vague, hazy pieces of memories left me pinching my cheeks while sobbing and rolling on the floor.

Maybe I should just die, I stood up but felt my knees wobble and a sharp excruciating pain in my legs.

It was an unbearable pain, it hurts so freaking much…I screamed as I heard my bones snapping, and cracking. The bones in my hands crack rearranging into something that feels like claws.

I managed to get to a full-length mirror to see what was wrong with me. It was a horrifying scene, my bones snapped again making me writhe in pain, I didn't realize I was crying with liquid dripping down my cheeks.

My knees wobbled as I fell to the cold floor rising and standing on fours, clad with platinum furs and a shade of black below the abdomen. Looking at the long pointed snouts, long pointed ears, the long canine teeth. I didn't know how to classify the beast I transformed into.

I felt so big trying to move while knocking down some things, stumbling on the floor.

I stood up again balancing my legs as I moved in front of the mirror to observe what was wrong with me. I lifted my hands which had transformed into claws and furs on it.

I yelled in horror which came out as a growl, my voice wasn't heard by myself but rather from a voice within me. The events from yesterday were still overwhelming as I recounted what happened after the beast jumped at me but I couldn't remember leaving the area, coming back home lying down in my bed.

“I brought you home”. A voice replied to me and I turned back and forth wanting to know where the voice came from knocking down something in the process with the tail.

"And I am your wolf," She added, my eyes widened in horror.
