Chapter 5
Nova's pov
I trailed quietly behind the guards that were leading me to where I was going to meet my doom. After the Lycan king left hours ago, he had these two hefty men guard my door till the break of dawn making it impossible for me to escape.
My body still ached from the bruises he left on me, I was been tortured by a Lycan which made it hard to heal quickly.
My throat hurt so much but I couldn't do anything about it, since my hands were tied to my back.
We got to the front of a huge double door and the guards stopped in front of the door. I need no one to tell me that we have got to where we were heading.
"Go in!" One of the guards spoke up for the first time, I squinted my eyes, unable to believe that I would be going in all by myself.
"Sorry? Won't you be going in with me?" I panicked in fear, I didn't know why but I preferred being with the deadly-looking guards to being in a room with the Lycan King, all by myself.
The guard didn't say anything, instead, he opened the door and signalled for me to go in.
"I don't..."
I was pushed in before I could complete my speech and I fell to the floor. I winced in pain when my body hit hard on the floor.
"Nova,"
"Princess!"
I never knew anyone was inside the room aside from that beast, until I heard those voices I could recognise anywhere. I lifted my gaze to see my parents kneeling in front of the beast that called himself the nation king.
We were in a room that had no appliances, aside from a wooden chair that the beast was sitting on.
"Mom! Dad!" I cried out, I tried getting up from the floor but it was impossible since my hands were still tied to my back.
"Nova," Mom sobbed quietly, and I bit my lip in sorrow. Mom couldn't come to help me up, I felt bitter and I wish I had the power to kill that beast, but what could a girl like me possibly do? Absolutely nothing!
"Princess, can you stand up?" Dad asked worriedly I was very sure he was in tears already.
"Yes. Yes, I'm fine, I can get up." I groaned and sat on my butt, I lifted my eyes to see the Lycan king staring darkly at me, he didn't say anything but just watched my family grieve in pain.
"Randale?" the Lycan king called, making us dart our gazes at him.
"Now that your sweet little thing is here, would you answer my question?" he got up from the seat and moved towards my dad who trembled in fear.
"I swear I was telling the truth." Dad wept bitterly and I looked away from him, I couldn't bring myself to watch my father begging for his life.
"Really?" he smirked, squatting in front of my father. "Radale, for the second time, who's that little thing you sent to me?" He howled, gripping Dad's neck, threatening to rip it off.
"I'm sorry!" that was the only thing Dad could muttered, I sat there on the floor, watching my dad wail like a child, I clenched my fist as anger surged through me.
"Bring her in!"
The door pushed open and I felt someone fell beside me on the floor, I was so scared that I couldn't look at the person.
"Who do you think that is?" the Lycan king barked and I jumped in fright.
"Tam... Tamsyn!" Mom and Dad gasped in unison and I hastily moved my gaze to the person beside me, only to see my sister lying helplessly on the floor next to me.
"Tam!" I yelled and tapped her with my feet, she burst into tears without getting up from the floor. She looked weary with dried blood were all over her ripped dress.
"He's dead, Nova! They killed him!" she cried and snuggled into my lap.
"Him?" I arched my brows, "Him? Him, your boyfriend?" I gasped and she continued crying on my lap.
I felt like everything was my fault, if I hadn't told Nova to run away, if I hadn't gotten myself involved in this, if I hadn't agreed with my parents to come here none of these would have happened.
"Now that you have known your crime I shall pass my judgment." the Lycan king stepped away from Dad and sat back on the seat.
"Please, give me a chance to correct my mistake." Dad pleaded, I felt my breath hitched hearing that from Dad. He seemed scared of the judgment the beast would pass onto us.
"For failing to have your species obey the rules, and for plotting a scheme on your King..." he paused midway through his sentence and I felt balls of sweat roll down my face.
"I shall behead you in front of the nation and your pack will be ruled by my kind. Your wife will be sent to exile and your daughters..."
"No, you can't do that!" I didn't know where I got the courage from. I stood up from the floor and walked up to him.
The room was dead silent, I could no longer hear the muffled cries of my father. The Lycan King's eyes were burning with fury for interrupting his speech.
"Who are you to question me?" He howled angrily, his face red with rage and his fists clenched tightly.
"Because I am your wife and you are to treat my family with respect," I yelled at his face, his face went pale and I saw the corner of his lips curved in a deadly grin.
"Wife you said! Since when have you been bearing that title?" he asked with a little bit of amusement in his tone.
"I have become your wife, right from the moment you have my father signed those documents and you are not to go against your words, only if you wish to break your own rules," I smirked back at him, his mouth clamped shut for a second, and I thought he had given in to my tricks.
"Guards!" He barked and two men rushed inside the room, their heavy boots on the ground made the ground shake like it was going to crumble.
"Take them to the dungeon. Strip and lash the father in front of his wife and daughter." His voice sounded like the growl of a mighty beast, fierce and uncompromising.
The two men drags my family out and I couldn't turn to have a look. I was responsible for their punishment and I felt ashamed that I couldn't bring myself to look at their faces.
"Now, dear wife," The Lycan King stood up from the wooden chair and cup my cheeks in his hands.
"I'm letting it slide this time because you're my wife-to-be and you're yet to learn the basic principles of the Royal." he ran his fingers on my face and my stomach churned in disgust.
I wished he would realise how disgusted I felt by having his fingers on my face. I couldn't say anything, I let him do as he pleased and he stopped when he realised I wasn't going to bicker with him.
"Take her to my room, I shall teach her a lesson never to go against her husband."
My legs gave way and I fell on my knees. I thought the ground should just be opened and swallow me whole.
'To his room', I kept on repeating that until I felt a pair of hands wrapped around my arms.
"I will escort you to the Lycan King's bed chamber."
The room was getting stuffy and I found it difficult to breathe.
