Chapter 4

Nova's pov

A loud bang on the door was what woke me up from my sleep. I jumped off the bed seeing a shadow walked into my room and stopped right at the entrance.

It was still dark and the light was off, only the dim light from the lamp was on, and it did nothing to let me have a proper look at the intruder that just entered my room.

"Who is that?" I panicked in fear, I didn't know anyone here and I wondered how the person got passed the guard outside.

"Shayna, is that you?" Shayna was taken to the maid's quarter the moment we got here, and I hadn't set my eyes on her since she left with the head maid.

"Hello?"

The light came on after the person switched on the light. I came face to face with the intruder and I felt my heart sank into my stomach.

"The... The Lycan... King!" I gasped in shock, the look on his face was harder than when he came in the evening.

He didn't say a word, neither did he move an inch. Standing there with his hard glare boring an invisible hole in my skin.

"What... What brought... you here, Lycan King?" I stammered as I couldn't calm my nerves.

"Who are you?" That was the first thing that came out of his mouth, I opened my mouth but quickly closed it back. He arcs his brows, urging me with his glare to start speaking.

'What does he mean by that'?

'Does he knows anything about it'?

'Did he not know who I truly am'?

'Is he testing me'?

Those were the question that flooded my brain, and I rubbed my sweaty palm together, as the Lycan King patiently waited for me to introduce myself.

"I... I'm," I gulped hard nervously. I didn't know where or how to start.

"I am Tamsyn, the eldest daughter of Alpha Randale of Wildtail pack." I breathed the words in one go.

The lycan king moved a little closer, and each step he took scared the life out of me, I watched him clench his fist and I tried very hard not to feel intimidated by his presence, but in a real sense, I was scared to the bone.

"For the second time, who are you?" the Lycan king asked with all seriousness, I gulped down nothing and composed myself for the lie I was going to say, and I want to sound as convincing as ever.

"I am your bride-to-be, Tamsyn of the Wildtail pack. I am the eldest daughter of Alpha Randale, my father is one of the great leaders in the nation, I am here to serve as your wife, your Royal Highness." I bowed slightly and hastily stood up straight.

He closed the little gaps between us, making me move back until my back pressed against the wall.

"I will ask you for the last time, and if you dare lie to me, I will tear your ribs to pieces and feed your body to the fishes." he barked and I shut my eyes in fear.

I was already trembling in fear, my back had glued to the wall and I couldn't move. Balls of sweat formed on my forehead and I couldn't wipe it. I felt his hot breath on my face as he moved his face a little closer.

"Who are you?"

I didn't know how to answer his question anymore, I didn't know what to say to make him believe I was my sister and I could not bring myself to say the truth. I need to try again, convince him that I was my sister.

"Tam... Tamsyn is my name!" I cried out when I felt his hand wrapped around my neck, his grip on my neck was so tight that I couldn't breathe.

I opened my eyes to meet with his eyes burning in fury. I grabbed his hand on my neck but I couldn't free myself from his grip. I coughed heavily as I felt my breath seized.

"How dare you a mere werewolf lied to me?" he howled, spun me in the air and threw me to the window.

My back collided with the wall of the window before I fell to the floor with a loud thud. I coughed heavily and tried crawling out of the room, but then again, I felt a pair of hands on me, grabbing me up by my hair.

His grip on my hair was so tight that I thought few strands might have been pulled out of my head.

"Please, let me go." I pleaded, tears found their way out of my lids and I couldn't do anything to stop my tears.

"I told you, I warned you not to lie to me." he hit the back of my head on the wall and I got a splitting headache that instance. The headache was severed that I felt my head might split into two at any moment.

I held his hands on my hair, he yanked my hair and pushed me to the floor. I couldn't cry, I couldn't plead for my life. I just lay there on the floor, staring at him with blood oozing out of my mouth.

"I..." I crawled on my back when I saw him moving closer to me, each step he took made me wish I never agreed to come here in my sister's stead.

"Speak!" he howled and I gulped down nothing.

"I... I am Novalie. I am Alpha Randale's youngest daughter." I sob quietly and he chuckled darkly.

"How foolish of you!" he smirked and crouched down beside me on the floor. "Did your father ask you to do this?" he grabbed my neck once again and I felt his claws pierced into the flesh on my neck and it felt as though he wanted to pluck out my gullet.

"No..." I shook my neck nervously. I wanted to deny that my father wasn't part of it, but the more his claws dipped into my flesh the more I felt that I should let the truth out and be at peace.

"Yes, he asked me to do it. Please spare my life." tears rolled down my eyes, mixed with my blood and streamed down his hands.

"What about the eldest daughter?" he asked, the look in his eyes urged me to lie one more time and I would be dead.

"She ran away." I coughed out blood.

"Good!" he released my neck and stood up from the floor.

"Guards?" he hollered and two hefty men that I never thought were by the door entered the room without wasting any second.

"Bring me Randale and his wife, alive or dead, I want them to be here by dawn." He said to the men and I gasped in shock.

Not only was I in trouble, I had dragged my parents into the mess with me, had I known I wouldn't have told him the truth. I should have taken the truth to my grave.
