Chapter 4
He had seen his son frolicking with so many women that he had lost count of and knowing that he had no plans to settle down nor have kids as he had everything that he wanted, Axel attracted himself to the most beautiful ladies on the globe but he did not have the intention of settle with any.
That constraint was to be there till she finally has an heir else he was going to lose it and it was going to be shared with orphanages. Mrs. Hunter wanted all of it without letting anything back.
"You are just a selfish woman and sometimes I regret having you a mother", he spoke out and before he could know it, she had given him a very hot slap telling him to take that back. Axel has her a disgusting look and turning his head, he walked out on her as he went back to his car. It was very terrible to have that kind of feeling with your mom and little did she know that, Axel had been having sex with multiple women just so h could finally have an heir.
He grew up not believing in love as he could have any lady he wanted, joined with the ones who often threw themselves at him just at the knowledge of him being the Moore and the CEO of the biggest enterprise in the country.
He drove off to his other house and not wanting to be disturbed, that was the perfect place to go to whenever he felt sad. His argument with his mom was a heated one and he did not regret all the things that he had told her for she deserved it.
" Doctor please save my mother, she is all I have left in this world", Morgan cried out while following the Stretcher that was taking her mother into the ward. The nurses held her back when they had reached the reanimating room.
"Sorry Ms. you cannot go any further than this", one of them said but Morgan, forcing her way in, struggled to no avail.
"You have to let them do their jobs, Morgan, your mother will be fine", Mrs. Paloma whispered but Morgan not being able to see her mom suffer like that, fell as she wept bitterly.
" Why does she have to suffer like this God, why?", she began questioning her creator but Mrs. Paloma asked her to stop as it was not a good thing to do, she turned to her with her face covered with tears and her head on her chest.
"Everything is going to be alright dear, just hold on tight", the other man who had accompanied them spoke out.
After some minutes, the doctor came out asking with whom she had come there and Morgan rising to her feet, responded,
" I am her daughter's doctor I came with her, and these are our neighbors".
The expression on the doctor's face was not a good one as he was sweating hot knowing how to break the news to her, but somehow he had to say it so he voiced out,
"Your mother is suffering from a kidney problem and she needed to undergo surgery as soon as possible if not we will lose her".
Her cheeks had fallen and her mouth drawn backward. She was aware of her mother's condition, but she did not know that things were going to get this bad.
" Doctor, I have been making sure to buy all of her drugs and ensuring that she takes them, so how come her kidney is this bad?", she raised a question but the doctor explained to her that, those things can only be put up with the drugs that are being prescribed to the patient only for a short period as the kidney it's all has to be changed. That is the only way to be completely free.
Morgan turned to her neighbors with a long face and a confused mood, her eyes were filled with tears and she could not even begin to think of where she could get the money to pay for her surgery.
"Do you have any idea where you can have some money Morgan?", Mrs. Paloma inquired but she was in a state of shock. Her tongue had disappeared into her mouth healing her dump and deafness at the same time. Realizing that Morgan was not with them, she tapped her on the shoulder, and only then did she come back to her senses.
Veering around to implore the doctor whether there was another means of saving her mom, the doctor was gone. He had left to take care of other patients. Morgan watched the nurses bring out her mother from the ward to a waiting room where she was going to be receiving treatment till she finally brings the money for her surgery. Her silence was very disturbing as the others feared that she was thinking of the worst situation but Morgan was busy thinking of what to do to be able to pay for her mom's surgery.
With her had leaned on the wall as she sat down breathing hard, she looked up at Mrs. Paloma who told her to be strong as she had to go back home to meet her kids.
" I will be back tomorrow morning to check on you and your mother okay? just stay strong dear" she murmured while caressing her hair. She nodded in acceptance and watching the others wave her goodbye, she broke down into tears again.
Life was so cruel to her mom and herself that sometimes she often asked whether they deserved things like that. Getting yo and walking to where her mother was kept, she pushed the door and made her way into the room shedding uncontrollable tears.
Not wanting to pick up the call, her mother told her that it could be important. Feeling reluctant to answer her phone, she slowly took it out of her pocket and the moment she saw who the caller was, her hands began to tremble.
Seeing the look on her daughter's face, she asked who was calling and she responded,
"Eva is the person calling mom".
Due to her mother's condition, she had completely forgotten that she was to go to work, and knowing how grumpy Mr. Hunter is, she was certain that she did not have a job anymore.
Lost in her thoughts, the phone had rung out until it ended up and began ringing again. Taking in a deep breath, she picked up the call and the first thing she heard was Eva telling her that the boss had been asking after her.
" I am at the hospital with my mom Eva, she has to undergo surgery", she let out turning her gaze to her mum.
"Oh my God I am so sorry girl, here are you going to do now?", Eva asked but Morgan's head was a mess and she could not think. She asked her friend for financial help but Eva told her that she could help but it was not going to be enough, told her something pertinent yet substantial.
" Why don't you ask for help from Mr. Hunter?". Her question made her feel somewhat awkward knowing all the advances that he was doing toward her but looking at her mother's condition, she could do anything for her.
Deciding to go to the company to meet with him, she went into the restroom to clean up her face. When she came out, Mrs. Paloma was already inside the room.
"Good morning Mrs. Paloma", Morgan said feeling grateful for her presence.
" Good morning Morgan, how are you doing today?", she cross-examined and Morgan told her that she was doing okay, begging her to stay with her mom as she has to get to the office to take permission. Mrs. Paloma was a good woman so she accepted without any further question.
"I love you mom", she placed a kiss on her forehead and smiled at her, she told her that everything was going to be okay.
She left the hospital not knowing what her conversation with Axel was going to look like but she hoped that he could give her what she needed. Stopping a cab in front of the hospital, she boarded one that was just from dropping some people at the sanitarium.
Axel was in his office but he could not stop looking at Morgan's desk, wondering what could be the problem. His heart was beating for her but he had not noticed it yet. Rising to his feet, he walked around his office waiting for the documents that he was to sign.
Her mind was just fixed on taking care of her mother because she had a long way to go with her. Sitting beside her mom, she lowered her head on her bed, while holding her hands. Out of sorrow and fatigue, the warm hands of sleep blew on her face causing her to sleep for the night as the next day was going to be tougher.
It was morning and the sunlight made its way into the room when the nurse pulled up the curtains. She woke up and stretched herself on the bed, forgetting that she was with a suck person.
"Good morning Ms. Morgan", the voice brought about consciousness into her ears. Opening her eyes, she saw someone standing in front of her but the image was blurred as she could not make the person out yet.
" Good morning", she responded wiping her eyes. Her view was finally clearer and her first reaction was to check on her mother. Frightened as she could not find her mother on the bed, she panicked and asked the nurse where she was, but the nurse told her not to worry, and informed her about the patient being in the doctor's office.
"Thank goodness, I thought that the worst had happened", she murmured. Just as she was still chatting with the nurse, she caught sight of her mom pushed into the room in a wheelchair.
" Morgan dear, you are awake".
"Yes, mother and I was scared that something had happened to you", she narrated. Asking her mother how she was feeling, she helped her to get on her feet while touching her head with the back of her palm.
The nurses excused them as they had other patients to go check upon. Morgan was left alone with her mother and the joy of seeing her awake was clouded by the sadness of not knowing how to raise the money for her treatment.
" You do not need to be unhappy my daughter, the doctor has explained everything to me", she spoke out.
"How will I not be mom, I cannot leave you to die", she burst out in tears but her mother hushed her down with a smile on her face.
" Everything will be okay dear, have faith".
Her head was a mess and she could not wrap her fingers around what was happening. Just as she was confused, her phone vibrated in her pocket and that was when she had even recalled that she was having her phone on.
Morgan's replacement for the day was very slow in the secretariat domain but he had to do with her as he had no choice. Just when he was looking through his window and admiring the outside view, he heard a voice call out his name from behind. Axel turned slowly not knowing whether he had listened too well. Indeed, Morgan is the person standing behind him. He wanted to scream out with joy but as usual, his ego and arrogance could not let him do so.
" Why are you coming to work now?", he interrogated but Morgan knew that he was a complicated person, and went directly to the point of why she was in his office.
"Mr. Hunter, I apologize for not coming to work today, but it is because my mother had a crisis last night and I had to take her to the hospital where we spent the night. I need some money please, you can deduct it from my payment", she said.
