Chapter 3 Remember?
Lenny's POV
We walked on the back porch and my eyes widen. There were fireflies everywhere. A little pond and a huge tree.
"It's beautiful," I said and he smiled.
"I knew you would like it," he said and then his lips just kept moving.
"I knew you would like it," he said grinning at me.
We were back at the park.
"Well, who doesn't like fireflies?" I asked blushing as he smiled.
"Some people," he said and I hurried to follow but then he stopped.
"Van why did you-" I started to say but he turned around with a firefly in his hand and I jumped back screaming.
"Calm down Len," he said walking up closer to me with it. I closed my eyes and looked away. "See," he said and I opened my eyes looking at him confused. "People can say their pretty and they like them. But once it gets too close to touching them they're scared," he said letting the firefly go back to flying near the grass.
I blinked realizing he was right. "It's like we're scared of something beautiful because we're not used to it," I said without realizing it and he smiled brightly.
"I was thinking that too Lenny bug," he said and I flushed.
"Le-Le-Lenny bug?" I repeated flustered.
"Sounds like a nice nickname," he said grinning.
"Len was already a nickname," I said looking down blushing.
"The more the merrier," he said.
The more the merrier huh?
"Len?" Van said snapping his fingers.
"Sorry Van," I said flushing.
He smiled softly. "What were you thinking about?" he asked.
"Wha-What?" I said blushing more.
"What were you thinking about?" he asked again.
"Just old times when we were young," I said and he smiled brightly.
"Like that time I called you Lenny bug?" he asked smiling and I flushed.
Ho-How did he know?
"Probably not it's just me thinking about that." he laughed and I nodded.
Suuure. I'll agree with you.
"So are you staying for dinner?" he asked grinning.
I thought about it. Staying wouldn't be too bad...but his wife and him would probably have lovey-dovey moments. I saw enough of that already.
"Probably not," I said.
"You don't like her do you?" he asked laughing.
"Don't like who?" I asked knowing exactly who he was talking about.
"My wife," he said and I looked away. It's like he can read my mind.
"I don't really know her enough to dislike her," I said shrugging still not looking at him and he rolled his eyes smiling.
"Your lying," he said and I looked at him quickly.
"How do you know if I'm lying or not,"I asked and he laughed.
"You looked away and wouldn't look at me," he said.
"Well if you know I don't like her why to ask?" I snapped and he blinked.
"I was kidding," he said.
Oh great, just great.
"Sorry.... it's late. I'll be going now. Bye Van."I said turning to leave.
"Remember?" he said and I turned around.
"Remember what?" I asked.
"November," he said and my eyes widen.
When he tried teaching me how to dance? No, he must be talking about something else.
"What about November?" I asked and he smiled.
"I tried to help you learn how to dance," he said.
"Why are you bringing that up?" I asked and he shrugged smiling.
"I just thought about it," he said smiling more.
"How co-" I began to say.
"Dinner!" Marion's voice rung.
"Okay!" Van yelled then glanced at me. "So are you staying for dinner?" he asked.
I just answered him. Why does he want me to say so bad?
"No. Sorry maybe another time," I said and he frowned a bit.
****
"Your an idiot," Eric said before slurping up his noodles.
I scrunched up my nose. "Listen, he's married," I said sighing
"Yeah yeah." he said licking his lips and I glared at him
Why am I hanging out with this cop again? Not to mention Sammie's dad.
"Are you just gonna give up?" he asked eating a shrimp and I slanted my eyes.
"You eat a lot. Can you even cook?" I asked and he rolled his eyes.
"You keep dodging questions. I only came for the food. If this a date you're the worse date ever." he said smirking.
"This isn't a date Eric. I do happen to remember us knowing each other and thought maybe you were someone I could talk to." I said glaring.
"Your so lonely," he said laughing.
"Aren't you?" I snapped and he shrugged and gulped down his beer.
"I don't mind it anymore I guess. You-"he started.
"I get it." I said.
"Look Lenny, we've known eachother what? Since the ending of high school and college."he more asked then said.
"I thought you barely remember me?" I asked.
"I do barely remember you."he said laughing. "Well since your not really gonna talk I'm gonna hit the hay."he said standing up to stretch.
"Okay."I said before eating some of my steak.
"Tomorrow let's have a guy night with the boys. It'll be fun."he ssid grinning.
"Why?" I ask swallowing.
"I just said it'd be fun. Sammie and his boyfriend and friends are funny. Two so you won't be eating icecream and watching soaps."he said rolling his eyes.
"I can always do it in the morning." I yell as he walks away.
"Haha have fun with that,"he said and left.
I sighed as my phone buzzed. Looks like I got a message. It was from Van.
Busy tomorrow?
Depends. I sent.
Instantly my phone buzzed again
Cool so your not busy. I'll see ya tomorrow...bright and early *evil smirk*
I groaned as I read the message and turned off my phone. I stabbed my steak and then took a bite huffing.
What does this man want from me now?
