Chapter 2: I heard You Got Married to Zane
Yanis stood still, carefully observing Zane as he walked Neve to his car.
During their five-year marriage, except on the day they got married, Zane had never been this tender.
Yanis had always believed that tenderness was not in Zane's nature.
But now, seeing him with Neve, Yanis realized he was capable of tenderness, but only towards her.
"Albi said you wanted to talk to me. What's going on?" Zane asked as he approached Yanis and stopped in front of her.
Yanis was surprised.
Last night, Zane himself said Albi would bring her the papers.
And he had even started dating Neve.
But now, he acted as if he knew nothing.
Yanis composed herself and said, "Let's go inside and talk."
With that, Yanis entered the cafe, and Zane followed.
They chose seats near the window.
Yanis didn't order coffee, but instead, she asked the waiter for two glasses of water, saying, "Sorry, I can't afford coffee right now."
Zane gave her a look. "Have you spent all the money I gave you?"
Yanis didn't answer that question and instead asked, "When did she come back?"
Zane remained silent.
Yanis asked again, "Last night?"
"Did you pick her up yourself?"
"Do the Bennetts know she's back?"
"Yanis!"
Zane interrupted her in a deep voice, "What do you want exactly?"
Taken aback, Yanis looked at the man across from her and calmly said, "Last night, you said you'd ask Albi to bring the papers for me, so I'm here to sign them."
Hearing Yanis' words, Zane rubbed his forehead, looking at Yanis with cold eyes. "I thought you wouldn't want to sign them."
Yanis sniffed and sneered. "Would you agree if I didn't want to sign the papers?"
"No," Zane replied immediately.
Yanis stopped smiling and said, "So, it never depends on me."
With that, Yanis reached for the cup on the table and took a sip. "Zane, I'm ready to let go."
Zane didn't say anything, but he felt an indescribable feeling as he heard her words.
Yanis looked him in the eye. "I'm ready to let go and give you back to her. You can marry her and do whatever you want. This situation is too complicated for the three of us, and I don't want to chase a pipe dream anymore. So, I'm quitting, and I wish you a happy life."
When Yanis finished, she extended her hand towards Zane and asked, "Where are the papers? I'll sign them."
Zane looked at her.
During their five-year marriage, Yanis had always been submissive.
She had never been so decisive before.
Zane felt a strange sense of oppression that almost choked him.
Just then, Zane's phone rang.
He answered it in an unusually gentle tone. "Okay, I'll be right there."
After hanging up the phone, he returned to his cold demeanor and looked at Yanis. "I'll ask Albi to bring the papers for you."
Yanis pulled her hand back and nodded. "Okay."
"But it might be too late today. There's a family dinner at Lawrence's Mansion, and Grandma wants us to go there together."
Yanis froze for a moment and then said, "Okay."
Despite how the Lawrences and Zane treated her, Catherine, Zane's grandmother, had always been kind to Yanis.
That's why Yanis agreed. She wanted to have dinner with Catherine for the last time as a farewell.
After all, they might never see each other again.
Yanis spent more than two hours in the cafe before leaving.
It was 1:00 p.m.
Yanis arrived at Manches Star Hotel.
She parked her car and entered the hotel through the back door.
After looking around, Yanis found Bonnie in the temporary lounge at the far end.
Bonnie rushed to Yanis. "I thought you were going to stand me up again because of Zane."
Yanis looked at Bonnie with a hint of guilt. "I'm here to talk to you."
The smile on Bonnie's face disappeared instantly. "What do you mean?"
"There's a family dinner at Lawrence's Mansion, and Catherine wants me to go there with Zane."
Bonnie stared at Yanis for a long time. "So, you chose to stand me up in front of me!"
Yanis reached out and gently lifted the corners of Bonnie's mouth. "After today, I'll always be available for you."
Bonnie slapped Yanis' hand away. "Save those words for Zane. I don't buy them."
"Bonnie!"
Yanis suddenly spoke in a serious tone.
Bonnie remained silent, looking at Yanis.
Yanis stared at Bonnie for a moment and then said, "I didn't see Mr. Cooke. Where is he?"
"As a socialite, he's well-connected, so he's very busy today." Bonnie got closer to Yanis. "Is there something you're not telling me?"
Yanis smiled at Bonnie. "No, it's impossible."
"But you were secretly married to Zane at that time." Bonnie snorted. "I'll remember it for the rest of my life."
Bonnie pushed Yanis down on a chair. "Is there something more between you and Zane?"
Yanis thought for a moment and said, "Yes, I think so."
The divorce was also a turning point between them.
It was time to end this failed marriage.
"That's good. Anyway, five years have passed. No matter how heartless he is, he should be moved."
Yanis nodded and said nothing more.
Even Bonnie thought so.
But Yanis failed. Zane wouldn't even talk to her.
After chatting with Bonnie for a while, Yanis returned to D-king Castle, where she and Zane lived.
Every time Yanis went to see Catherine, she would call the housekeeper at Lawrence's Mansion in advance to ask who would attend the dinner.
And then Yanis would prepare a gift for each of them.
But this time, Yanis didn't call the housekeeper.
She didn't want to cater to Zane anymore, so she didn't have to do that.
In the evening, the door opened on time.
Yanis looked at the door.
Zane walked in, followed by Neve.
Yanis was a bit shocked, not expecting Zane to bring Neve with him to Lawrence's Mansion.
"I'm going to change my clothes. Just wait here for a while," Zane ignored Yanis, spoke to Neve, and went straight upstairs.
Yanis didn't intend to say anything or greet Neve as the hostess.
"I heard you got married to Zane," Neve said as Yanis was watching a TV show.
