Chapter 11

Silence. Only his violent breathing can be heard he. Patty let her older brother calm down. Her older brother must really have a love life to reduce the quarrel. But she understand him. She knows he was just concerned for her well being. She loved him even more for it.

"Just… be careful, okay?"

"Yeah."

"Sleep."

"You also. Goodnight, Kuya. I love you. ”

"I love you, too."

Patty looked up at the sky again when the call was cut off. Only now did he see so many stars in the sky. All her life, the only thing Patty sees is the white ceiling inside the hospital. Or the pink ceiling in her room.

She never experienced attending the camp, having a bonfire, eating s’mores, taking a swim with friends, or even just strolling at the park.

She was that sheltered.

Patty wanted to blame her sickness. She wanted to blame the people around her. But in the long run, he realized he had nothing to blame.

It is hard to accept that while other people are happy and alive, he, is confined to his illness. But he learned to accept that. He learned to fight sadness. Maybe the sadness he felt since childhood was the reason he learned to fight when he got older.

None of Patty raised her hand as if reaching for the star in the sky. He closed his palm as if he had reached the star and got it.

She smiled. She was being silly.

"Why are you still awake?"

Patty was startled when she heard Caleb's hard voice. He lowered his hand then turned to the man. It leaned against the balustrade of the burning balcony of its cabin. As usual, the expression on its face was serious. It folded as it looked straight at him.

He did not know why he was treating her this way. Too cold. Did he do something wrong here? Did he offend it? If looks could freeze a person, maybe Patty can be turned into an ice sculpture now.

"Just drowsy," he replied.

He grunted.

"H-you can't sleep either?"

It just shook.

"Are you living?"

It shrugged.

Wow. There seemed to be more destination when he spoke dumbly than Caleb.

“Are you close to the Del Valle?”

Caleb's gaze turned to him. Patty swallowed especially as she felt, her eyes would suck him. In the darkness now, its eyes look black. It was blank that Patty was so afraid the darkness in them would suck the life out of her.

"Stop asking questions as if we are close."

Ouch, ha.

Patty nodded. “It's like just asking. You are ugly, ”he said uncontrollably.

He scoffed. "Whatever," he whispered.

"It's nice here." Patty doesn't know why she doesn't want to let go of her mouth. It is obvious that Caleb does not want to talk to him but he does not want to stop. Maybe because she was lonely being alone in this beautiful place.

No response from the man. He also had nothing to say. Drained na.

"Go to sleep," Caleb said suddenly.
