Sandra's Uncle

"Thank you, Mrs. Elizabeth. I appreciate it. I'll try to find a new place as soon as possible once I get a job." Richard said, even though he knew he won't work in any other firm. His plan was to help Sandra save her company from collapsing.

Sandra's mom nodded. "It's fine. Just make yourself at home, Richard. But don't get too comfortable."

As Richard smiled and nodded, Sandra couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. Sandra doesn't want Richard to go anytime soon, only when he's fully back on his feet. Only if she knew that the man she wanted to help, was still there so he can help them.

"Don't worry, Richard. I'll find you another job. You are hardworking, and I'm sure we will have no problem finding something new." Sandra reassured Richard with a warming smile.

"Thanks, Sandra. That means a lot to me." His face light up in gratitude. "For trying to help me, you will regain the standard of your company."

"Don't worry about the company. I have everything under control. We need to focus on you." Sandra replied. "Come with me, let me show you my room."

Sandra got to the door which was directly opposite to her own room and pushed it open. As Richard entered the room, he noticed the room was spotless. It was as if it was just cleaned. He could smell a popular feminine perfume.

"How do you see the room? I hope you like it." Sandra asked.

"You are asking as if I have choice." Richard laughed.

"I just want to make sure you are comfortable." Sandra replied and Richard started unpacking. His eyes flashed to the wardrobe and saw some feminine clothes.

"Are those yours?" Richard asked.

"No, it's my best friend. She was staying in the room. She left few days ego." Sandra replied. "Take your bath. I will be in the kitchen. I've wanted to go to Randy's birthday party, but I've Changed my mind. I won't want to face Lucy, not today."

"I don't think she have problem with you. I'm the one she hates. You can go. They are still your step siblings."

"But they don't regard me as one. Besides, Randy didn't invite me." Sandra replied. "I will be in the kitchen." Sandra left, leaving Richard to settle down.

Sandra started making calls afterwards. She reached out to her uncle's secretary and was happy when she was told the her uncle have an open slot. She believed he would be perfect for the job.

The next day, Richard was still sleeping when Sandra knocked on his door.

"Come in." Richard answered, adjusting his brief. She opened the door and walked in

"I have some great news, Richard. I'm going to introduce you to my uncle's company. He's a successful businessman and he have an open slot. I'm sure he will Take you."

"That's amazing, Sandra," Richard said, trying to sound enthusiastic. "But.. what if I work with you? I want to work in your own company."

"That won't be possible. I'm still struggling to manage it. I won't be able to pay you. I'm currently owning some workers due to financial struggles. You can't work with me. I will introduce you to my uncle, and I'm sure he will pay you handsomely."

"I won't mind if you don't pay me." Richard replied.

"Don't be stupid, Richard." Sandra cautioned him. "How will you stand when I don't pay you. I will still be feeding you. We need to visit my Uncle this morning."

Richard was not interested in any job. He wanted to work with her so he could know how he could help, but unfortunately, Sandra doesn't understand.

"It's alright, we can meet your uncle if you still insist." Richard said.

"Great!" Sandra nodded, pulling out her phone to make the call. "My uncle will love you, Richard. He's always looking for royal and hardworking people to work with."

Richard mind raced as he tried to think of a way to get out of this situation. But it was too late. Sandra had already made the call, and they were set to meet him.

As they entered the office, Mr. Bryan turned and saw Sandra. "Oh, Sandra." He was surprised to see her but his face twisted when he saw Richard behind her, though he maintained his friendly composure.

"Good morning Uncle." Sandra extended her hand for a handshake. "It's great to see you!" Bryan greeted her. "And this must be Richard, your...step sister's ex husband."

Sandra and Richard was surprised to hear him say that. They just got divorced yesterday and he had already knew. Sandra's mind raced in thought and then, remembered that yesterday was Randy's birthday.

"She must have told him during the birthday party. Who knows if she had said more than this" Sandra thought within herself.

"Yes, Uncle Bryan. You are right, this is Richard."

"Good morning, Sir." Richard greeted and Mr. Bryan glanced at him before responding, "Good morning." Then turned to Sandra. "Please have a seat." He gestured her to occupied the seat in front of her while Richard stood behind her

"Please what bring you guys to my office." He wasn't even looking at Richard.

"l'm searching for a job for Richard, and I thought you might be interested to fill him in the open slot."

"Open slot?" Bryan asked.

"Yeah, I reached out to your secretary yesterday evening, and she told me there is an open slot. So I came so you can fill Richard into the position." Sandra said.

"Oh! Yeah!, I fired the head of advertising department. He had been giving me trouble and I got rid of him yesterday. You want me to replace Richard with him?" Bryan asked.

"Exactly." Sandra smiled. "I'm sure he will be more than capable to handle the position."

"You think so?"

"Ehrrrrm, Yeah! He will be perfect for the job." Sandra replied.

"Nice, but I'm sorry, Sandra, I can't employ him." Bryan said and adjusted on his seat.

"Why?" Sandra asked. She didn't see that coming. She thought he would gladly employ him immediately.

"You must have thought I'm ignorance of his past and why he's currently jobless. For your information, I know all about him. Thanks to Lucy who had told me everything i need to know about him. He was fired due to incompetence and was also divorced because of how useless he is. How can you convince me to hire someone with that kind of terrible track record."
