Divorce

Richard got to his office door only to behold a written note hanging on the door handle. He grabbed it and read through it.

His legs went soft when he realized what it was. What have he done to be fired? He didn't see that coming. He took the written note and headed to the manager's office. The manager, Miss Franca, could see the rage and anger written all over his face as he stormed into his office.

"What is the meaning of this? I came this morning and saw this letter on my door. I hope maybe, there's a mistake somewhere." Richard stated.

"Ah, You have received it, Good." The manager nodded and continued what she was doing.

"What do you mean by good? How can I be fired when I've done nothing wrong." Richard asked.

"You may not have done anything wrong, but your work is no longer needed. You are not useful to us. So we took the best decision by releasing you."

"How can you say that? I've been working so hard for this company." Richard lamented.

"Hard?" The manager raised her eyebrow. "You have only coasted on your wife's coattails. You have never contributed anything reasonable to this company. Your work had became so terrible that even your wife had finally realized it."

"That's not true." Richard's face reddened with rage. "I've made significant contributions to this company that I even deserve promotion. I've earned my place here, so I'm not accepting this termination letter."

"Earned your place? Both of us know that you are here because of who you are married to. You are always useless to this company."

Richard's anger boiled, and he slammed his fist on the desk. "I won't let you talk to me like that. I may be here through the influence of my wife, but I've done nothing but dedicate myself to this company."

The manager sneered at him. "You are just a joke and nothing more, and it's time to leave my office." .

"Are you trying to order me out? I think i have to call my wife." Richard said and took out his phone.

"Your wife?" The manager laughed. "It will be interesting to let you know that your wife is actually the one behind your termination. She said she doesn't want a cursed lowlife soul to work in her family's company anymore" The statement hit him hard that he felt a sharp pain across his heart as if he was shot an arrow.

"My wife? You are telling me that my own wife fired me?" Richard asked.

"Yes, your wife has seen how worthless you are and decided to get rid of you. I've found someone who will replace you already. Now, i suggest you leave before I call the security."

At this moment, Richard could not say anything. He turned in anger and left the office. He needed to get back to his wife and confirm from her.

Lucy was sitting in front of her big mirror, wearing her makeup when Richard walked in. She looked like someone who was preparing for a big occasion.

"What is happening?" Richard questioned.

"What is that?" She asked without looking at his direction.

"I got to the office to be greeted by a sack letter. The manager said you are the one behind it. What have I done this time?"

"Stop talking as if you are dump and blind. Can't you see that we don't need you anymore?"

"Your family don't need me anymore?" Richard asked. "Your father made me one of the directors in that company because he knew how good I am and the impact I will make which he witnessed before he died. I'm more important than 90 percent of those workers in there."

"Important? You think you are a real deal?" Lucy asked. "My father employed you because of me. He doesn't want his worthless son in-law to stay idle. Now we don't need you anymore. Apart from that, I don't need you either. Though you have been a Good caring man to me. You cook, clean the house and run errands for me. Yeah, you are as good as a maid to me but now, I no longer need that."

"What are you saying?" Mike was confused.

"My father convinced me to marry his choice. Now that he's no more, I think I have the privilege to make my own choice, a better choice." She was looking at Richard on the face through the mirror.

"I hope it's not what I'm thinking." His mind was now running Wild.

"Maybe it's what you are thinking because I don't want to have anything to do with an uneducated, idiotic dumb swine like you anymore." She picked up a file and slot out a divorce paper. "I have already signed my part. I want you to sign yours."

"Is this a prank or what? What have came over you?" Richard didn't see that coming. He was surprised she was pulling that stunt. She have been treating him like a slave ever since her father died which he was enduring and hoping she would change. Now she was seeking for a divorce.

"Do I look like someone who is playing with you?" She turned to him. "I don't need you in my life anymore. You don't deserve someone like me. You were not even up to my standard. My mom was always right about you. She warned me and so did my brother, but because my father liked you and I didn't want to disobey him, I considered. You are a useless nobody, a failure, a loser and you will only bring me down if I continue to stay with you. I can’t have that, I can’t have you associated with my family and ruining our hard earned reputation. I feel ashamed of having someone like you as my husband."

"You are ashamed of having me as your husband? Remember that I'm the one behind the success of your father's business. Your father was going bankrupt when he made me one of the directors. The company gained a billion dollars within six months. Now that your father is dead, you want to kick me out?"

"Is that what you think? He would have survived without you. He would have recovered within two months, but because of you, it lingered up to six months. We don't want to work with a failure anymore."

"I don't believe you are saying all these things to me."

"You don't believe? I thought you already knew you were a useless pieces of shit. Deep down you know you doesn't deserve here. You were our house help Untill you bewitched my father to make an illiterate like you a director and also convinced me to marry you. I can't be with someone who will be drawing me back. I deserve better."

"And you think you can get a man better than me? You think you can get a husband who cares more than me?"

"Care? You don't have any attributes of care. Come to think of it, You were never my husband. Remember we have never had s*x ever since we got married. You are a house help to me. I made you my slave which you are very good at. I realized you were meant to be my house help and not a husband. Now I'm going to marry a suitable husband while you can choose to continue with what you are good at, or get kicked out." Her voice was hard and dominant.

"That will never happen. I'm not signing this paper. We promised ourselves right there in the alter, in front of your father, that only death will do us part. I will never sign this." Richard finished and Lucy laughed.

"I will advice you to sign it now, or you will sign it in a worst way." She said. "My elder brother, Randy, is celebrating his birthday today, and I'm not leaving without making sure you sign this divorce letter. I will be attending the party with my potential billionaire husband, Richmond,

Richmond is the only son of Mr. Black, a billionaire business man who have one of the largest car and electronic company. His family were more wealthy than Donaldson family, which was the main reason she wanted to get married to him. The marriage will make huge impact in their networth. Their collaboration will lift them up to the top.

"I'm sure Randy didn't inform you about his birthday, which is enough to let you know that you are no longer a part of this family." She said and just then, they heard a knock on the door.

"Perfect timing." Lucy smiled, knowing who would be knocking. "You can come in Darling."
