Chapter 13
At the Coleman Group.
Joanne knocked on the door and, upon receiving permission, entered the room.
Liam was on the phone. It was Patricia calling, discussing the very topic Joanne intended to report to Liam.
"Liam, are you really letting Claire show herself in public like this?"
"Who is Carl?"
"And that woman, Amanda, has a bad reputation! Claire absolutely cannot associate with her! Liam, you need to control your wife."
Liam's tone was somewhat indifferent. "Mom, Claire is divorcing me. How can I control her?"
Patricia cared most about the family's reputation. After talking for a while without talking any sense into her son, she angrily hung up the phone.
Liam put down his phone and looked at Joanne. "Claire went to see Carl?"
Joanne was about to speak when she noticed a velvet box next to Liam's hand. She recognized it. It contained Claire's wedding ring. Her boss must have looked at it during idle moments.
Liam always wore his wedding ring on his ring finger, even though he didn't love Claire. He wore it to remind other women that he was married.
Joanne's fingers were slightly curled.
After a moment, she smiled faintly, "Yes, Amanda introduced them, a model with a bad reputation. I don't know how Mrs. Coleman got acquainted with her."
Liam didn't care about Amanda or Carl. At that moment, he thought of Colin.
Colin's gaze on Claire was unmistakably that of a man admiring a beautiful woman. Liam was sure Colin saw Claire as more than just an old friend.
Liam leaned back in his chair. He casually flipped through some documents and said indifferently, "Tonight's meeting with Harry will be at the Emperor Hotel."
Joanne was surprised. Liam usually only arranged meetings at business hotels, which were quite dull.
Was this exception because of Claire?
She remained silent for a while until Liam looked up at her. "Is there a problem?"
Joanne quickly bowed her head. "No, Mr. Coleman. I will arrange it immediately."
At 8 PM, on the 56th floor of the Emperor Hotel.
Harry's group had already arrived, including Carl, and they were sitting around playing cards.
Most of the men had girls by their side, from actresses to models.
This group was composed of the affluent elite of Beach Port, and Liam was among the top tier of that social hierarchy. As he walked into the room, nearly everyone rose to their feet to greet him, their expressions a mix of respect and admiration.
Once Liam sat down, Carl poured him a drink and teased, "You're a rare guest here, but there's an even rarer person tonight that you wouldn't guess!"
Liam guessed who it might be. Aside from Colin, who else could it be?
Just as he was feeling displeased, Claire appeared.
Claire set up her violin as usual and was about to play when she suddenly froze upon seeing Liam.
In the luxurious hall with dim lighting, Liam lounged on a sofa, exuding an air of nobility as he coldly stared at her.
His gaze reminded her of how he looked at her on their bedroom's large bed when he tormented her into a solitary passion. Even though Claire had already filed for divorce from him, she couldn't help but shiver when their eyes met.
Her hands trembled slightly as she played the violin, but the violin she played was still as enchanting and melodious as ever.
Liam was somewhat surprised.
He wasn't knowledgeable about music, but Claire played "Serenade" exceptionally well. It sounded both pleasant and familiar, as if he had heard it somewhere before...
Liam was certain that before and after their marriage, he had never heard Claire play the violin.
