CHAPTER 4

"You don't have any son here,now leave."She spat and opened up the door for him."I don't have a child here,certainly not yours."For someone who was nervous her voice really was steady and he's making things so hard,why won't he just leave she thought.He walked over to her and her gripped tightened on the door handle thank god he's leaving any longer would've been a death sentence for her,he was standing in front of her and she caught the smell of his cologne it send a tingle through her entire body and she averted her gaze and stared straight at his broad muscular chest,so long and he still turns her on.

His gaze was on her she could feel it her entire body was burning for his touch,seconds passed and than minutes.The sound of Lucio crying had her looking over her shoulder....oh no she screamed inside of her head.Jared was standing behind her with Lucio in his arms crying,his tiny arms outstretched towards her.She caught a glimpse of Javier's profile and what she saw in his eyes made a shiver ran down her spine,she took Lucio from Jared and patted his back to stop him from crying.

"Angie.What's going on here?"Jared said,he looked back and forth between her and Javier,but Javier was just standing there motionless not saying anything his eyes was empty and she was scared of how this might turn out."Who is this?"Jared asked and put a hand on her shoulder,Javier's gaze followed Jared's hand and she immediately moved away,what she had seen in his eyes when Jared had placed his hand on her,body language said alot and his screamed murder.Lucio was still crying and it was not helping the present situation,she moved away from the door and took his bottle from the kitchen counter,but Lucio didn't want it instead he hit it out of her hand and it fell directly in front of Javier's feet.Great she thought and bended down to pick it up but he beat her to it.

"This isn't a good time so can you please just leave."She said to Javier.

"You heard her."Javier barked at Jared."Leave."He pointed to the open door.

"I was talking to....-"

He held up a hand to silence her."You have no business here so I would advice you to leave and make sure you leave nothing behind.I will not repeat myself again."

Angelica saw that Jared was about to protest,if she doesn't intervene things won't end well and she wouldn't want Jared's blood on her floor."It's okay Jared I'll call you tonight then we'll talk about a date for the wedding."Without another word he left and Javier closed the door behind him,she moved to the living room still trying to calm down an agitated Lucio.

"Shhh."She whispered to him."Mommy is here."She knew he had followed her because she could feel his presence behind her,when it comes to this man her senses were on high alert.

"Give him here."He commanded softly and stepped forward,she stepped back and he winced."Don't pretend to be afraid of me now."

"I don't need your help with my son."She flung at him."Leave."

He said something in Spanish and it didn't sound nice she had wanted Lucio to know a few Spanish words since it was his dad native language but never got around to hiring someone,money has been tight.Before she could process another thought he grabbed Lucio out of her arms.

"What do.....-"She began but stopped when she saw Lucio had calmed down and was staring at his dad,his eyes wide as saucers. Both of them looked

at each other,then he said something in his mother language and Lucio giggled.Angelica couldn't believe what she was seeing for days on end she had been struggling to keep him calm,yet one encounter with his dad and he was quiet as if nothing ever happened.The next few minutes that passed she could only stare at how father and son were bonding,an instant connection that's bind by blood Lucio has taken to Javier in this one encounter what if he takes her little boy away from her she will never survive.She cannot let that happen her son will stay with her no matter what Javier does.

"What are you doing here Javier?You made it very clear that you never wanted to see me again the last time we spoke."

"One thing that you can be certain of I didn't come here for you.I came here to get what is rightfully mine.My son."

"You talking about him as if he's a piece of property.He is a human being that has feelings,not one of your many expensive objects and you're not taking him anywhere."

"I have a right to be a part of my son's life.Don't think for a second

I'll let you take that away from me."

Angelica was stricken with fear but kept her cool."I won't let you intimidate me.We don't need you,we've been doing fine so far without you."

"You might not need me but my son does,were you honestly thinking of raising a Vàzquez in this dump,when he has a father who can give him so much more."

She winced at his remark this dump that he was referring to was her...their home and has been for the last year what right did he have to come in here and judge her."This dump might not be up to your standards and taste but it's our home and will be until Jared and I get married."

There was an endless silence before he spoke."Even more reason for my son not to be here.I will not allow another man to raise him while he has a father just the thought makes me wanna kill someone."

"Javier you are engage to a very beautiful woman you can have kids with her,just leave us and go.Why are you doing this?"Her eyes were burning with unshed tears.

"I'm sure you've heard the saying,the past always comes back to haunt us...and yours my Àngel has."She heard a phone rang and saw him taking out his,a second later he spoke in spanish.She sank down on the chair and held her head in her hands.Oh this is a mess!What was she going to do?She cannot lose her son.Someone knocked and she saw him going to answer the door as if he owns the place.A brief discussion was concluded and he reappeared with a brown envelope,carelessly he threw it on her small coffee table.

Fear spread through her body."What is this?"

"Read it."He simply stated.Hands shaking she tore open the envelope and took out whatever it contained.She scanned through it and her blood ran ice cold,all the air was gone from her lungs,she opened up her mouth to talk but no words came out,seconds and then minutes passed.She jumped up and threw down the contract.

"I won't.I will not give you full custody of Lucio that will never happen.Over my dead body,you think you can just barge in here and claim him,when I've been raising him for these past eighteen months.You out of your mind....you hear me Mr Javier Vàzquez out of your bloody mind.Give me my son and take your papers and get the hell out of here!"She shouted.

"I would advice you to mind your language in front of my son."She saw that he was beginning to fall asleep again.Oh sweetie she thought."There's only one way this will end and I can assure you I won't lose."

"I'll fight you,there is no court that will grant you custody of my son.I will fight you on this Javier I promise you."

"With what.You can barely afford to support the two of you and pay a college loan,that's getting higher and higher with what money will you take me to court.Besides I'm sure one phone call to a social worker to come and see the state of this place,you've already lost.Make this easier for all of us and just sign."

"I won't."She refused and stood her ground.

"I'm afraid you leave me no choice then,but just so you know you asked for this I tried to sort this out amicable like two grown adults but you wouldn't listen."

"You call this fair."She picked up the papers and threw it at him."That only benefits you,what about me.He's my son and I will not be a part time mom and watch from the sidelines how you and your future wife raise him."She strolled over to him and took Lucio's sleeping form from him."Now take your papers and go because I will never sign them."She vowed and went to go and lie him down.She stayed in her room for lord knows how long,she had heard the door close and can only hope that he has left,because she doesn't have the strength to fight him.
