Savior
Now completely surrounded by darkness, Denise’s mind wandered off on its own to the memories of the past, things that had gradually eroded her happiness these past few years, things that she wanted to forget but couldn’t and others that she wanted to cherish. She remembered everything like it was yesterday, the good times and the bad times altogether.
Back then, her father was a beta, so he barely spent time with his family. But when he did find the chance to return to her and her siblings, he’d always bring them presents, sweets, toys, anything he could find. And even when he was exhausted, he’d always join them to play random games during the early nights, meanwhile their mother went to rest.
Then, on weekends they'd spend the whole day together, as a family. She liked it then, because she was happy. Everyday was pure joy. She had friends at school, siblings who would give her anything she wanted, a dad who would tear down the world for her, a mother who cared for them more than anyone and a pack where everyone protected each other. Life was good then…
Until everything shattered to pieces.
Carla; her mother died. Wyatt; her Father changed completely. Her siblings; Kira and Justin both grew to hate her. And within her pack, she became an outcast.
After all that, Denise’s life fell apart, but she still attempted to fix the broken relationship with her family, especially her siblings. But Kira and Justin hated her with every fiber of their being, after all, she not only took away their mother, but also their father who had become constantly aggressive and violent since her death.
The rest of the pack were no different.
Murderer, witch, cursed child, mutt…became a few of the many names she got called by.
It took a few months before they decided they couldn’t take it anymore, that they couldn’t live amongst a monster. Her brother was the one who suggested kicking her out of the pack, meanwhile her sister suggested feeding her to rogues.
Her father, however, chose to imprison her.
Throughout it all, there was a time when she wished she had been born a human and other times she wished she had never been born at all. That way, others wouldn’t have to suffer because of her and she wouldn’t have to bear everyone’s hatred: her mother, father, Kira, Justin, the whole pack altogether.
But no one hated her as much as she hated herself.

Faint voices made Denise stir, the memories that floated around in her mind now disappearing as she started to regain her consciousness. At that time, it was already morning.
“…seen it for yourself? Her power?”
Ignoring the throbbing pain in her limbs and her burning eyes, she hesitantly lifted her heavy eyelids. In that moment, she was scared to look around, knowing that what she’d see was the same bloodshed as always.
But when she peeked up and her gaze met a familiar pair of emerald eyes, she stiffened. It was then that she felt the tingles that sprouted on her skin and the warm arms that held her flush against his chest as he sat on one end of a bed. She flushed in an instant and Kain tilted his head, looking down at her.
They were in a room, but she could tell it wasn’t hers. Her father and Alpha Denver were there as well. She could smell them. Those voices she heard earlier had been from them.
“You’re awake.” Kain's lips moved above her and she couldn’t stop her eyes from zooming in on them. She flushed even redder.
Her mate…was holding her, for the very first time. She could hardly believe it.
Last night, she had so desperately wanted to touch him, but now, she had woken up to him holding her as his delightful scent whisked against her nostrils. She liked it, she liked him. There was no doubt.
His touch…felt heavenly. She’d never felt so thrilled to be wrapped in anyone’s arms before. Was this what having a mate felt like? If she were to pull herself closer to him, how much better would it feel?
“You seem perfectly fine, even after fighting four of my best wolves. You did well, she-wolf.” Denver suddenly praised, his words quickly reminding her of the worries she had before.
Those men…she was certain not a single one of them lived, she killed them all…
Denise felt her stomach stir, vomit threatening to rise up her throat.
“That is the only thing she’s good at. Breaking bones and ripping through flesh.” Her father spat.
In seconds, she was trembling. She had truly done it once again!
Her mate’s arms tightened around her form and she bit her lip, looking anywhere but at him. He…must hate her too. After seeing her wolf go berserk last night, she knew he must’ve been disgusted. Even if he wanted her before, he would no longer want her now. He’d stay far away from her…just like everyone else.
And she couldn’t even blame him for that…
Denise was close to bursting into tears on spot. The one thing she wanted, the one thing she actually wanted after all these years…she would not be able to have it.
Because she was nothing but a pathetic werewolf who could not control her inner wolf. How could she even dream of a mate?
“Denise.” Kain uttered, the mere sound of her name leaving his lips calmed her a tad bit, even though his tone had a hint of irritation. “The mutts are alive, unfortunately. Stop with that pathetic look on your face.”
Her breath hitched, surprised. Her wolf had never left anyone alive as long as her claws could get to them, be it woman, man or child.
“H-How?”
“Your wolf submitted to me.”
“S-Submit?”
Raina was a wolf who submitted to no one, not even the Alpha of the pack she resides in. Denise looked up at him, searching for any signs that would tell her that he was joking, but when his annoyed look remained, she flew up, shuffling out of his arms and curling herself in the corner, eyes wide like saucers.
There had to be some mistake.
Denise had never once been able to control her wolf, yet her mate was saying he made her submit? It all sounded unbelievable to her, but…
…If what he said was true…After all the years, the moon goddess must have finally taken pity on her…
“The lunacy of your pack is what you’re renowned for, Alpha Kain.” Alpha Wyatt spoke again, “Only someone like you could tame this monster. I should’ve known.”
“Wyatt, that is a bit too blunt.” Denver sighed, “Besides, it is not that she is wild, her strength simply rivals that of the Royals and she doesn’t know how to control it. You’ve said her wolf had no training? Amazing! Still, I thought we’d have trouble getting her to behave, but it seems not. That said, Alpha Kain, what do you say? We’ll lend her to you for a reasonable price. Are you interested?”
“P-Price?!” Denise stammered.
