Chapter 4

*Beep beep beep beep*

My alarm goes off and it feels sooner than it is supposed to be. Oh shit, it's Monday! I pick up my phone to stop my alarm and see that I have five messages. 2 from Tyler, 1 from Craig, 1 from Kylie, and 1 from Jason.

The text messages:

Tyler:

GoodMorning Love ! Oh, I'm gonna pick u up a little early today !

Craig:

GoodMorning Gorgeous ! See u @ school .

Kylie:

Ayyee Boo ! Girl, I gotta tell u somethin when u get to school !

Jason:

Beautiful, buy me an Arizona if Tyler take u 2 the store & I'll pay u back ! K?

After replying to all of them, I go and get ready. We have four more days until school is out, I can't wait for summer break. I put on some khaki capris, a white polo shirt, black Toms, black belt. Yea, we have to wear uniform to our lame ass school. It sucks, but sometimes I really don't care.

"Nyree, come do your sister's hair before her bus gets here!" I hear my mom yell this from downstairs. I told her to have two more boys. Sadly she only had one and the other was a girl. They're faternal twins and drive me crazy.

"Aiight mama!!" I throw my extra stuff into my bag, grab my phone charger, phone, and money, then I walk downstairs. "Taliyah come here, bring your food. I don't want you hungry at school." She comes and sits down between my legs facing the TV with a bowl of cereal. My mom has a regular black woman's hair. It's not super long, but she has a lot of it. Gets frizzy and she goes to the beauty shop every two weeks. Only reason Taliyah and I have long hair is because of our grandmother, she's of Indian decent or something like that, my mom doesn't want our hair tainted with perms so we both go natural. Flat iron it sometimes....but we're naturals!

"How did you do it?" She started touching her hair.

"I just gave you a fish tail braid, nothing special." She starts admiring it.

"Oooo cool! Thanks Ree!" She continues eating and sat back with me still sitting over her.

Honk Honk!

"That's my ride ma, bye love you!" I give her a kiss on the cheek and give my little bro a kiss in the forehead.

"What about breakfast?" My mom gives me a worried look. I am half way out the door and have to step back in.

"Don't worry about it ma! I'm going to eat." Before she can say anything else I am out the door and hopping into Tyler's car. "Wassuuup?!"

"I have to go somewhere for a minute, ok?" I nod my head yes and he drives off. We aren't driving for long, then we pull up to Tanisha's house. Whoa, I thought they were over...? I didn't question him though, I just roll down my window so that I can hear everything that is going on. In less than 30 seconds she is yelling at him as he walks back down the driveway. The hell...?!

"What was that about?" I have to ask, I'm confused right now.

"She called me this morning telling me she needed to speak to me about something. So I get here and she asking me for a damn ride to school. Does this look like the bus to you? I mean really though! And I said that to her too!" He so mean to his girls though. I just laugh at him and shake my head. We pull up to the cornerstore not too far from school and go in. "You want anything?"

"I gotta buy Jason a Arizona and he gonna pay me back, so I got it."

"That's ok, just tell Jason to pay me back."

"Aiight." I got Jason his Grapeade Arizona, he so obsessed with those, I got my fruit punch one, and I got Tyler's favorite, strawberry kiwi. I got me a bag of hot chips and Kylie some hot funyuns. "Here." I handed Tyler his drink and we walked to the counter. He pays and we ride to school. The second I step out of the car Kylie is by my side. I always wondered how she could do that.

"Nigra, where have you been? I have something very important to tell you!" Kylie is super excited and seems too anxious.

"What do you want child?!" I read her face for a second and then I realize what it was! "You and Bryan did it didn't you?!" She looks around to make sure no one heard me, then lies in my face.

"I don't know what you're talking about!"

"Yes you do! Do I need to spell it out for you. Kylie and Bryan sitting in a tree F-U-C-K-I-N-G!!!" She hits me lightly and drags me into the building.

"Okay okay, so maybe we did..." I can't believe it! She's finally lost her virginity! I lost mines this school year too. It was way earlier though and it was with this cute guy named Milo that was from Jamaica and I actually really liked him! He had this gorgeous body, that sexy accent, and he was dark skinned. He moved back like 5 months ago because his mom got sick and that's when we broke up. He probably would've took Tyler's place in my heart, until he moved. That's how much I liked him.

"At lunch you're telling me EVERYTHING!! No hold backs, deal?" We do our handshake and start walking to 1st period. When we reach the class, we walk past this white guy named Chandler's desk to get breakfast. He's one of the blackest white guys you will ever meet. He dates only black girls, dresses with the dopest swag ever, and talks better slang than ever. Plus, he's really good at switching roles around his parents and school; they send him here one way, he changes into another then changes back. He's also loaded!

"Nyree!!!!!" I turn to where it came from and see Todd sitting more towards the back of the class. I wave at him and then Kylie and I take our seats in the middle of the classroom. We start eating and I feel my phone buzz. I have a text from Tyler.

Tyler:

Aye, I'm going to miss 1st period. Cover for me?

Omg I'm so tired of covering for him every time he wants to go fuck another hoe. I text back whatever and continue eating. I wonder how long I'm willing to wait for Tyler to come around. I mean yes I love him, I'm in love with him, but he doesn't seem to be coming around and how do I know he ever will. I guess if I ever become Craig's girl it will help me take my full mind off Tyler.

"Miss Jabati, Miss Collins, my room is a place for learning not a restaurant!" I hear Mrs. Johnson say this from the door. Ugh, whatever. We pass it down the row so somebody can throw it away.

She starts calling role and when she says Tyler's name I am prepared to speak, but then he says here. I turn and see him smiling at me. Wait....what?

Text Convo:

Me: I thought u were gonna miss...?

Tyler: I was but I wasn't feelin it anymore.

Me: Whoa, that's a 1st!

Tyler: Yea, ik.

I look back at him again and he just shrugs and makes this goofy face at me. I laugh at him and turn back towards the front. Don't nobody care what this lady got to say. I'm still passing her class and I never hear her math teachings. My phone buzzes again.

Tyler: Btw u look sexy today. Well u do everyday...

Me: Lol thnx Love!

Tyler: :)
