Chapter 2

“Oh my, Sis. Why is your belly so big?” Amelia stepped forward, covering her mouth in shock. “Could it… could it be the old man’s child?”

Everyone was stunned by her words.

“What old man? Amelia, explain.”

“That’s…” Biting her lip, Amelia suddenly knelt. “On graduation day… I saw Sis go into a room with an old man… I—I tried to stop her, but she wouldn’t listen and even beat me up.”

With tears flowing, Amelia acted all innocent. “Dad, I wasn’t trying to hide anything, I swear!”

“What are you talking about, Amelia?! When did I hit you or go into a room with an old man?!” Elizabeth was shaking with frustration. She would have attacked Amelia if not for the pain in her belly that sapped her strength.

Since Amelia joined the family, she’d always played the part of the sweet, innocent one, winning sympathy from their parents.

“Sis, don’t you admit it?” Amelia said in a soft, tearful voice with a guilty expression. “That baby is the old man’s—I saw it with my own eyes. You should just get rid of it!”

Could it be that the baby inside her was really from some old man?

Elizabeth’s face turned pale.

She couldn’t believe it!

Charles grew even angrier. “You’ve always worried me. When will you learn to be sensible like your sister?!”

Sensible? It was all an act.

Amelia stood up with a pleased look and threw herself into Robert’s arms. “Robert, talk to Sis, stop her from ruining herself. She’s going to destroy her life.”

Robert glared at Elizabeth with contempt. “Elizabeth, I never thought you were this kind of person.”

Enduring her pain, Elizabeth shook her head and tugged at his trousers. “That’s not true, Robert—it really isn’t. Listen to me!”

They were childhood friends. Why had his past affection disappeared?

Now, Robert was angry.

She would be with some old man and not with him!

“When I confessed my feelings for you, I thought you were just shy… but now I see you for what you really are. Amelia is the purest woman who loves me the most, and I regret knowing someone like you, Elizabeth!”

Robert’s words were filled with venom and hatred.

A bitch? He was actually calling her a bitch!

Elizabeth felt a chill run through her as memories of growing up with Robert flashed before her.

So it was all a lie?

Amelia calmed him down. “Don’t say that, Robert. Sis is pregnant—don’t upset her.”

Those words only added fuel to the fire.

With an ashen face, Charles yelled, “Get out! You’re no longer a daughter of the Bennett family!”

Playing the role of the soft-hearted stepmother, Rebecca said, “No, Hubby… Elizabeth didn’t mean it—please give her a chance.”

“Yes, Daddy. Poor Sis, don’t kick her out!” Amelia continued her act, shedding fake tears.

Despite the pain, Elizabeth took a deep breath and forced herself to stay calm. “I’ll leave.”

Her whole body hurt, but she dug her nails into her palm to stay conscious.

As she walked out of the Bennett estate, Amelia ran after her. “Sis!”

“Don’t go, Sis. I’ll talk to Daddy—he wouldn’t really want you to leave! He only said that in the heat of the moment!”

But as Amelia wiped away her tears and held on to Elizabeth, she broke character and sneered. “Elizabeth, just leave and never come back. By the way, I was the one who set up that old man. What can you do? Robert now knows what kind of person you are.”

Elizabeth’s eyes widened. She realized Amelia had set her up.

Slap—!

Unable to hold back, she slapped Amelia hard.

“Ah!”

The slap sent Amelia to the ground, her head hitting a stone. She fainted with a scream.

Blood flowed.

“Amelia!”

Robert ran to them and slapped Elizabeth when he saw the bloodied Amelia. “Get lost, bitch! Never come back!”

As blood rushed to her head, Elizabeth felt a ringing in her ears and a bitter taste in her mouth.

Her cheeks were red and swollen with pain.

She had never suffered so badly.

Gritting her teeth, she headed to the hospital.

She couldn’t keep the baby, or it would ruin her life.

But she never expected… “Miss Elizabeth. Because of your special physique, it would be very difficult to conceive again if you have an abortion now.”

It was as if she’d been struck by lightning. Elizabeth froze, her blood running cold.

Looking up at the dark sky, all she saw was darkness.

Meanwhile, inside Pinehill Villa.

“Young Master, you mustn’t go. You’re hurt!”

Ignoring the others, a handsome man in a bloodstained white shirt got into his car.

“Don’t stop me!” He shouted suddenly, slamming his foot on the gas.

Damn it.

That woman was pregnant with his child.

He had to find her!

The sports car sped off. His dark eyes were fixed ahead, but as blood seeped from his wounds, he felt his consciousness fading.

As he furrowed his brow, everything went dark.

Bang— The car crashed heavily into a tree. Smoke comes out sharply, and blood dyed the soil red.
