Chapter one (1)

Subtitle: blank sheet

Solace cast a cold and sad glance at her mother who stood a few meters away from the car that she's in.

Her mother,Celia looked cold yet her eyes were watery and she couldn't say anything as her husband, who is Solace's step father, stood beside her with his hands on Celia's waist.

Solace managed to smile through her blank expression as she took her eyes away from the two couples who stood outside, staring at her.

She wondered where Jasper was, he didn't come to see her off and she somehow felt relieved that her last memory of home won't be his terrifying eyes staring daggers at her.

It was a much needed absence.

She calmly leaned back on the car seat as she heard the driver kick start the car.

None of her parents said anything to her and she didn't bother to look at any of them as the car gently drove out of Nightshade pack compound which was an epitome of power and luxury.

She knew that her trip was going to be long and she might as well take a nap.

Solace leaned forward then turned her head backwards to see two more cars following hers closely behind like she's the Luna of a well respected pack, it was odd.

She laughed bitterly and leaned back on the car seat as she closed her eyes and let the cold breeze that occasionally swoop in through the window at every sharp bend the driver takes to envelope her, taking her time to breath in and out as if she is finally getting the freedom she deserves but only she knows it's far more than that.

As she leaned back the only flashes of memories that she has in her mind appear and disappear like they were never there. Vague and little chops of memories without any basis and foundations to them come and go.

The thing is, Solace has zero recollection of about twenty years of her life, it all sounds so freakish that a twenty seven years old woman would vaguely remember what happened during her childhood and her teenage years. Those moments which are very important to a being and help define him or her are gone like she never even had them.

Her memory starts on a sick bed about five years ago where she had woken up, frightened, lonely and lost.

With not even a single hint of memory or belonging, her brain was completely blank like a clear sheet that's not been used before.

The people she woke up to ( her family) were the only faces she saw when she woke up.

Her quiet and timid looking mother, her charismatic and egocentric step father and her devilish and toxic step brother whom she dreads with her entire being.

Those people nursed her back to life for about a year since her body was almost paralyzed.

Her timid mother would come to see her every now and then, she would caress her gently and talk to her like she was some new born baby.

Celia was always quiet and never really shared much with Solace about her past or how she happened to get into the accident that made her bedridden for a year. However, her icy step brother would not miss the chance to jab at her for being the cause of her own misfortunes. But that was it, no one goes beyond that, no one tells her anything no matter how hard she tries and how much she begs to be educated even if it's a little bit about her mysterious past.

It was after a year that she was able to walk again and her mother began to take her out of her chambers. She got to walk around and graze the magnificent pack house of the Nightshade pack for the first time in her life.

Everything seemed mysterious to her, including the way she is treated.

No one wants to talk to the only daughter of the Alpha and the Luna, not even the lowly Omegas who always help her out with some necessary stuff. Solace had no friends and lived in boredom.

Anytime she tries to talk to anyone it all comes out fruitless as they are never ready to entertain her.

After recovering and living In solitude in such a massive pack for about two years Solace had come to terms with some things about herself and had learnt to live in her own shell.

She had come to terms with the fact that she had no father and that her step father and brother are forcing themselves to accommodate her because of her mother. To them she is nothing but a mere unwanted soul.

She knew everyone in the pack avoided her for a reason, probably because the accident had left such a huge blow on her that she had become weak and her wolf had probably abandoned her, or maybe she had none.

She's never shifted and had never even felt like a werewolf, she was weak and it was driving her crazy just sitting around like a fool while watching as months rolled by.

Her unwanted step brother will often pay her a visit everytime he comes back from one of his long escapades.

Solace has no idea where he goes and what he does but she knows that her brother would go missing for about three to five months and he'll suddenly show up unannounced to bother her.

He'll drag her around with him and make her do things she does not want to do.

As months turned into years Solace grew tired and suffocated in her pack.

She sought after freedom but it had always been faster than her.

She will sit around everyday and beg for a day in which the moon goddess will decide to pity her and let her have a life of her own.

It was about two months ago when a ceremony was held in Nightshade where the Alpha hosted many of his prominent allies.

Solace had no idea what was discussed or what the purpose of the gathering was but she made sure to defy her step father's words and step out of her chambers on the last night of the gathering.

She sneaked her way to the guest area and made sure to act as pleasing as possible.

That was how she ran into a kind man who looked like he was approaching his forties.

Before Solace knew what was happening something transpired. Her interaction with the kind man that night even though they had only exchanged a few pleasantries had led to her father and the man striking a deal which involved shipping her to the kind man's pack.

Where the pack is located and what she is to do there is unknown. Solace had never dared to ask questions about it. Besides, she orchestrated the meeting herself and the outcome of it was something she had hoped for, her freedom.

Now here she is, in one of her step father's luxurious cars which she'd never dream of being driven in, on her way out of her lonely pack to a new pack with an unknown purpose.

Her entire body is leaned back on the seat as different thoughts cascaded up and down her mind.

Her life from then will have to be meaningful at least, she doesn't care if she's going to be a servant in her new home, all she needed was just a touch of freedom and a friendly environment where she doesn't need to hang around in her chambers all day with a grumpy face like a child that has been told no.

She wants a meaningful life, a life where she can have friends who can share her stories and moments with, someone she can look in the eye and tell about her troubles.

That was all Solace prayed for before she got into the car.

As the car drove further and further Solace's mind started to get lighter and she started to think less of what was happening and what had been happening to her, she slowly drifted to sleep.

Her sleep didn't last long though because she was suddenly hauled forward by a powerful force, if not for her seatbelt she'd be thrown into the front part of the car and Into the glass.

She was terrified and she quickly sat up and looked around her with questionable eyes. She had no idea what just happened and what caused the turbulence but she did notice that the place was dark.

Her driver who was in front was breathing heavily, he was panicking like a small child and he had blood dripping down his head from possibly colliding with the glass in front of him that seemed slightly cracked.

"What is happening?"

Solace asked in a sober voice as she had managed to come awake in a matter of seconds. Well the situation she is in calls for instant awareness.

"I.... I.... I don't know miss.. I think we've been ambushed.."

The driver stuttered as he made to open the car door but failed.

"What do you mean by that?"

Solace asked as cold sweat broke out on her forehead, she was terrified.

The place was dark outside and she knew she had slept till it was dark on their long journey and now they are under attack.

She began to sob as her face squeezed Into something very sorrowful.

Suddenly she heard jerky sounds outside before the door on the left side of the car was pulled open.

A very large and hefty man appeared and he hovered above her like a massive tree causing her to slightly shrink in fear.

Her driver who was in front could not even talk as he looked like he'd pass out any second.

The hefty man leaned forward and Solace leaned back in fear.

Suddenly, the hefty man flashed a very bright light on her face causing her to shiver in fear.

"It's her!"

She heard him yell to someone in a rather subtle voice that really contradicted his looks.

Before she could talk she was dragged out of the car.
