7. Chance

Mia's Pov

I came out dressed in a simple white floral sundress that reached a little below my knees. I was kind of feeling weird in it because I was really not used to dresses. All I owned were either leather jackets, pants, shirts and most definitely no dresses.

Sitting on the bed for a few minutes, I waited, not knowing what to do next. Sighing, everything flashed before me as to how I ended up here. From the war to fainting to discovering my mate to sitting in his room.

I broke out of my thoughts hearing the door open and entered the Royal Beta in his glory. His eyes trailed over me from head to toe, taking in my appearance. It had only been a few seconds when a knock was heard and he attended the person. It was one of the maids bringing in a trolley full of scrumptious feasts. My mouth immediately watered at the sight, as the last decent food I had was the one he brought me in the cell.

He rolled the trolley in, making it stop right before me as I looked at him for permission to eat. Why the heck did I need permission? I didn't, right? The food was for me anyway, so I dug in without waiting for him to say another thing. My eyes widened with anticipation as I eagerly piled my plate high with a colorful array of dishes. With each bite, I devoured the food like a starving person, savoring every flavor and texture as if it was the most exquisite feast I had ever encountered.

For a brief moment, I had forgotten I wasn't alone. It was then when I looked up from my plate to see Christian looking at me in amusement and satisfaction?

"What?" My voice came out muffled because of the food that was stuffed in my mouth.

"Nothing," he chuckled, which was music to my ears, "just that you are adorable." I glared at him for calling me adorable before choosing to ignore him and concentrate on my food. After having my fill, I drank some juice that was kept along with the various dishes to quench my thirst before heaving a sigh of relief. Finally, something delightful and fulfilling after a long, long time. Dad always kept an eye on my diet and only allowed me to eat specific things at specific times. He even starved me sometimes to make sure that I didn't die of hunger if I was trapped by enemies who refused to feed me. I eventually grew a habit of it, but who was to say no to a cheat day?

He came to sit down opposite to me on a couch. "So what's your plan? Keeping me locked here? Until when?"

"You're not locked here. You are a part of this place, it is yours as much as it is mine. You just have to get used to it." I scoffed, rolling my eyes.

"I have to give it to you for being the biggest fool of the year. This is the first time I've seen someone welcoming their own enemy with open arms, giving them a very good opportunity to walk all over them?"

"Then why haven't you done it already, fire?" He raised his brow. "As far as I know, you don't let any opportunities slip, then why aren't you making the most of this one? Hmm?" He raised his brow.

"Because I'm captive here!" I exclaimed.

"Are you really?" His question made me ponder over his words. Was I really?

No Mia, he's fucking with your brain. Werewolves are manipulative, don't let him get to you!

"What exactly do you want, Christian?" I saw a flicker of gold spark in his eyes but it vanished as soon as it came. He got up from his place, taking steps until he reached where I was sitting. And then he kneeled before me, keeping aside his status, his ego, his everything. The Royal Beta of the Red Moon pack was actually kneeling before me! To say I was shocked would be an understatement. I was fucking flabbergasted.

He then took my hands in his and gave them a gentle rub before opening his mouth to speak.

"I want you to give me a chance, Mia. Give this bond a chance. Know that there is more to us than what has been fed to you, then what has been shown to you." For a flicker of a moment, I saw vulnerability pass through his soul. As if his life depended on me. Like if I was not going to agree with him, it would ruin his life, destroy his soul. "And if you allow it, then maybe you can actually show us the bridge to end this animosity between the werewolves and the Shadow Weavers. You could be the reason for the peace of our people and yours," he continued, and I couldn't lie but what he said did make sense. But most of all, the way he said, with all those emotions just begging me to give in, to his demand made my heart beat faster.

"Allow it and I will give you everything you need. The perfect life where you wouldn't have to worry about anything, much less going to fight in wars."

I thought about it. I can't be weak in this situation. Father did not train me to be weak. I did not bear all that pain of insufferable training, only to give in to emotions. I couldn't betray my father. And so, thinking about it for a moment, I knew what I had to do. It will be very easy to win over these emotionally weak creatures. It's time I took advantage of the upper hand of being a mate. I mentally smirked. And with that, I gave him my answer.

"Fine, I'll give you a chance."
