Chapter 35 Adulteration

On their way back, they saw a crowd around the gate of the Hospital of Herbal Medicine.

After Su Su recovered, she became interested in everything in the world. She said to Qin Tian, “Let's go and see!”

It turned out that these people were all patients. After they took the medicine in the Hospital of Herbal Medicine, not only did they not get better, but they had diarrhea.

They were surrounding a middle-aged doctor.

The middle-aged doctor was making a strong argument. He denied any mistake in his prescription.

The patients were so agitated that the situation could turn into a fistfight between the patients and the middle-aged doctors.

Su Su looked at it and couldn't help saying, “Isn't that Mr. Wang from the medical school?”

The middle-aged doctor was indeed Wang Heng. He was once invited to the medical school to lecture on herbal medicine, which Su Su was very interested in, so she had a good impression of Wang Heng.

Although Wang Heng was still quite young, his understanding in herbal medicine and his medical ethics were outstanding.

Just then, a young girl who looked like his assistant came over with a pile of sheets, sweating profusely.

“Everybody shut up!”

“Here are the latest tests and prescriptions, Dr. Wang.”

After Wang Heng brought it over, he asked Su Su to help him determine whether his prescriptions were correct.

Su Su checked them in turn. First, she called out the names of several patients. She checked the symptoms on the checklist against them and found no mistakes.

Since the symptoms were correct, there might be something wrong with the prescriptions. In other words, the medicine was wrong.

However, Su Su checked carefully and found that these prescriptions were all very classic combinations and there were no mistakes.

In other words, Wang Heng did not make a mistake. So, were these people making the noise to get money?

But by the appearance of the patients, those were indeed symptoms of chronic ejaculation, for they were indeed all plain-faced and listless.

Nobody would take laxatives just for some money, right?

And there were so many people having this problem at the same time.

So, what was the problem?

Su Su sneered, “Qin Tian, aren’t you quite smug about your medicine knowledge? What do you think is going on here?”

Qin Tian said thoughtfully, “If there is no problem with the results of the examinations and no problem with the prescriptions, is it possible that something was wrong with drugs or herbs?”

Su Su's eyes lit up and she said quickly, “Dr. Wang, did the pharmacy in your hospital make these medicines by yourself?”

“Can you show me around there?”

When she noticed Wang Heng's hesitation, Su Su said again, “To be honest, my mom's a member of the Medical Board now.”

“I also must help find out what happened.”

Wang Heng said hurriedly, “Come with me!”

At the pharmacy, Su Su asked the staff to open the cabinet where the medicine was stored.

Hundreds of herbs could be used for different formulations. If she checked them one by one, it would be very tedious.

Qin Tian worried that Su Su would be too tired, so he quickly read over the pile of prescriptions and said, “Ginseng is used in each recipe.”

“Where’s your Ginseng?”

The staff said quickly, “Here.”

“This is a new shipment we just got in.”

Su Su frowned as she looked at the bag of yellow slices of Ginseng. “The smell doesn't seem right...”

Then, Qin Tian also noticed that. He reached into the bag and stirred a bit, then grabbed a few pieces from underneath.

“This is not Ginseng.”

“This is… *Da Huang.”

“They used Da Huang for Ginseng. No wonder the patients all had diarrhea after taking it!”

“Dr. Wang, who is in charge of the purchase of these herbs?”

This was a clear case of adulteration. Su Su was very angry.

Wang Heng hesitated and could not answer.

“We should go back.” Qin Tian, however, suddenly said that and tried to push Su Su away.

“What are you doing?”

“Qin Tian, stop it!”

“It is shameful to sell fake medicines!”

“This is more than seeking profit. It's a murder! Now that I’ve found it out, how can I just leave it alone?”

“I said, stop it! Do you hear me?” Su Su freaked out and cursed.

After leaving the hospital, Qin Tian stopped, looked at Su Su, and said, “After the establishment of the Stillwater Branch of the Academy, the bulk purchase of hospitals is decided by the Medical Board.”

“You should probably know that.”

Su Su froze and then said, “So what?”

“You may be afraid of the Medical Board, but I’m not.”

“No! Qin Tian, what did you mean?”

There was worry in Qin Tian’s eyes.

“I didn't mean anything. I'm just reminding you that your mom's not just a member of them, but she's is also in charge of those bulk purchases.”

“Moreover, they have recently purchased a batch of herbs.

Su Su finally got it.

She said angrily, “You think my mom's colluding with the Su family to get something out of this?”

“Qin Tian, are my mother and the Su family so shameless in your eyes?”

“I'm warning you. They're not the kind of people who would do such things. If you ever say anything like that again, I'll have to ask you to get out of my sight!”

Qin Tian sighed, “There's no point in us saying anything now that it's happened. I believe they’ll figure it out soon.”

Now that they've got some clues, the rest of the investigation could not be simpler.

The hospital soon passed those “Ginseng”, and all relevant documents to the board.

Yang Yulan found that they were the batch of Ginseng she had purchased from the Su family.

The price they quoted and the samples they presented were very favorable.

Yang Yulan also thought that the Su family might have really changed.

She felt she had done nothing wrong by being able to buy high-quality medicines at a low price and help her husband's family out of trouble.

She didn't realize only the sample was real and that the Su family would sell the hospitals fake Ginseng.

Such behavior exceeded the bottom line.

Yang Yulan immediately called to ask Su Beishan and Su Wencheng to come over.

“Mom, do you think Grandpa and Wencheng could do something like this?” Su Su asked with a solemn expression. She refused to believe this was true.

“We'll find out when we ask them.” Yang Yulan was so furious that she almost freaked out!

Soon, Su Wencheng and Su Beishan arrived. They seemed to have it all figured out and were not in the least flustered.

When Yang Yulan asked, they shirked the responsibility completely. They said maybe there was a mistake in the hospital’s management, and someone swapped the real Ginseng.

Yang Yulan was so angry that her face turned red. She gritted her teeth and said, “All right!”

“Now that you deny it, I have the right to cancel my cooperation with you!”

“How dare you cancel the cooperation?” Su Wencheng sneered, “Aunt Yulan, I suggest you calm down and think things through.”

“As a member of the Medical Board, you colluded with a supplier to get a bribe. I'm sure you couldn't handle it if it went public, could you?”

Yang Yulan said angrily, “I didn't take your money. A straight foot is not afraid of a crooked foot!”

Su Su also couldn’t bear to listen to that. She said, “Wencheng, what nonsense are you talking about?”

“My mother never took any money from you, and I know that.”

Su Wencheng said with a sneer, “Su Su, Aunt Yulan hasn't taken money from us, but that doesn't mean you haven't.”

“You’re Aunt Yulan’s daughter. So, now that you took our money, it means she also took it.”

“Nobody's stupid enough to take a bribe themselves these days. Everybody knows that.”
