Chapter 27 Dean of the Hospital of Phoenix
“Bravo, Mr. Lu!”
“You are indeed sensible.”
“Of course. If not, how could he have defeated other deputy deans of his hospital and become the new dean?”
All the pharmaceutical company owners discussed it.
The person who pressed a bank card into Lu Xinjian’s hands was Li Chengnan, the president of South Pharmaceuticals.
A man with a square face was sitting next to him and Lu Xinjian. Li Chengnan patted his shoulder and asked, “Seen that, Mr. Geng. That’s the game of power.”
“In the past, you were the most capable candidate to be promoted to be the hospital dean, but why did Mr. Lu Xinjian succeed instead? You were even demoted.”
“To tell the truth, I financially supported Mr. Lu Xinjian in fighting for the position.”
“Mr. Geng, I initially offered my kindness to you, but you didn’t grasp the chance.”
The square-faced man was Geng Guizhong.
He snapped in disgust, “I’ll never associate with you, evil money-drive businessmen.”
“You’ve insulted my initial intention and principles of being a doctor.”
Li Chengnan sneered, “Stupid jerk.”
“Wait and see. Mr. Lu has become a committee member. You’ll not remain to be the deputy dean in logistics.”
“If you’re fired, you can come to work as a pharmacist in my company.”
“For the sake that we’ve known each other for years, I can guarantee your meals.”
His words amused other pharmaceutical company owners, who chuckled in mockery.
In their opinion, Geng Guizhong was indeed stupid and old-fashioned. He even ridiculously talked about his initial intention and principles.
“Mr. Wang, please accept the flowers. I want to kneel to you.”
“It means my endless admiration and worship to you.”
Lu Xinjian rushed onstage and knelt to Wang Bonian on a knee.
All people in the hall gaped at him as they didn’t expect him to do so in public.
However, some envied him as they hadn’t been so intelligent and sensible.
The only opportunity that they could approach Wang Bonian had been taken away by Lu Xinjian.
“Well done!” Li Chengnan cheered for him.
Looking at the man kneeling before him, Wang Bonian said indifferently, “Thanks.”
“Security, can you send someone to take the bouquet away?”
Lu Xinjian was startled. In his imagination, Wang Bonian would kindly accept the bouquet and help him stand up.
However, things didn’t go as he’d planned.
Lu Xinjian wondered if Wang Bonian disliked this style.
In dismay, he passed the bouquet to a security guard and stood up himself.
Ma Yong reminded him, “Mr. Wang will announce the committee members soon. Mr. Lu, please return to your seat.”
Lu Xinjian replied with a smile, thinking himself humorous, “I’ll come back to the stage shortly after. I don’t mind waiting here.”
Ma Yong didn’t insist.
Wang Bonian cleared his throat and started announcing.
“The chairman of the Stillwater Branch of the Academy of Medicine, Mr. Ma Yong, the dean of the Hospital of Stillwater.”
“Committee member, Mr. Zhang Xujiang, the dean of the Elysee Hospital.”
“Committee member, Mr. Wang Yuhe, the dean of the Gold River Hospital.”
“Committee member, Mr. Xing Qiang, the dean of the Inclusive Health Services.”
“Committee member, Mr. Yan Kai, the dean of the HCA Medical Group.”
Whenever he announced a name, there was thunderous applause offstage.
Meanwhile, the person mentioned by him walked onstage.
It seemed all the hospital deans mentioned had become committee members.
The left one should be the Hospital of Phoenix.
Besides, Lu Xinjian thought Wang Bonian purposely wanted to announce his name in the end to emphasize his importance.
He felt highly honored.
“The last committee member...” Wang Bonian paused.
Suddenly, he mentioned something in implications, “The medical supply and purchase are extremely essential and serious.”
“The above hospital deans are good at medical research but not business negotiations.”
“Therefore, for the last committee member, I want the person to be reliable and experienced in supply.”
“Thank you, Mr. Wang.”
“I must work hard and do the procurement job well under your leadership.”
Lu Xinjian rushed to him, his face twisted in excitement.
It was a bombshell as he had never expected Wang Bonian to let him be in charge of the supply and procurement, which was supposed to be the most advantageous position.
He thought his action just now had worked.
“Mr. Li, you’ve been smart again. Lu Xinjian didn’t let you down.”
“It’s a huge cake. Mr. Li, remember to share it with us.”
All the pharmaceutical company owners envied and flattered Li Chengnan.
Li Chengnan grinned from ear to ear. “Calm down. After the ceremony ends, let’s gather in Paradise Nightclub with Mr. Lu. I’ll arrange it.”
Wang Bonian glanced at Lu Xinjian weirdly onstage. “What’s your name?”
Lu Xinjian's smile froze. He answered, “Lu Xinjian.”
“Mr. Wang, I’m the dean of the Hospital of Phoenix, Lu Xinjian. I’m also the last committee member on your list.”
Wang Bonian sneered, “I haven’t announced it. How did you know you were the last member?”
“Please stop making trouble here.”
‘What?’
Lu Xinjian stiffened with a bad hunch.
Wang Bonian coughed, raised his voice, and announced, “The past committee member is Ms. Yang Yulan.”
...
The hall was deadly silent for a moment.
Yang Yulan, disappointed and worried for a long time, suddenly heard her name. She wondered if it was an illusion.
“Mom, Mr. Wang announced you to be the last committee member.”
“Congratulations!” Qin Tian said with a smile.
“Stop talking nonsense!” Yang Yulan retorted with a reddened face. “It must be a mistake.”
“It’s impossible.”
On the stage, Lu Xinjian forced a smile. “Mr. Wang, is there a mistake?”
“My name is Lu Xinjian.”
Wang Bonian answered solemnly, “We’ve done plenty of research and investigations. Ms. Yang Yulan is an experienced medical supplier and a qualified candidate in terms of professionalism, business ethics, and principles.”
“I officially invite Ms. Yang Yulan to join our committee. She’ll be in charge of the medical supply.”
Everyone confirmed the name.
Yang Yulan stood up in a trance.
“Impossible!”
“What dirty trick did you use, Yang Yulan?”
“Relying on your charm?” Lu Xinjian’s eyes were full of rage. He had lost his mind.
Wang Bonian snapped, “Think we don’t know about your deeds, Lu Xinjian?”
“You are a hospital dean but never contributed to the medical field. Instead, you hang up with the wrong kind of businessmen.
“You’ve insulted our industry.”
“Now, as the chairman of the National Academy of Medicine, I announce you are fired.”
“Mr. Ma, please announce the new dean of the Hospital of the Phoenix.”
Ma Yong instantly announced, “Mr. Geng Guizhong, are you here?”
“Mr. Geng isn’t only an excellent doctor in the cardio encephalon field but also a generous and kind-hearted doctor to support patients in poverty.”
“I officially announce Mr. Geng will replace Lu Xinjian to be the new dean of the Hospital of Phoenix and the alternate committee member.”
“Mr. Geng, please come here.”
