Summary

“I am not a pervert.”  Annie was a quiet sweet girl who saw everything from a bird eye view; she was always careful not to step on anybody's toe. She had been called various names but one name that stood out was being called a "Pervert" Jace was the school's popular bad boy and every girl's dream. He took delight in calling Annie a pervert because she had incidentally tapped his butt on one occasion. He found her quite mysterious and needed to know her better. When the feelings start to arise for Jace, he didn't know how to tell Annie who found him rather annoying. She would eventually find out about his feelings for her and also discover that she actually found him attractive. Would their chemistry grow in to a spectacular relationship or would they fall apart due to the different world they live in?.

Don't stare at the area

In high school, do not ever make a mistake that would make you the talk of the school. Most especially if you are tagged as a nerd. It would spread faster. Just imagine, hearing that the nerd kissed a guy, or confessed her love to someone. I would not call myself nerd though. I like to use the term ‘focused on the future type’, not nerd. People call people who get good grades and read a lot nerds. We are just really focused on the future. I think I need to start an awareness on that. But that’s not the problem now.

Our school opened applications to join one of the school clubs last week. I wanted to join the book club, or the physics club as a second option. But I accidentally applied to the football club. I don’t even want to get started on how that accident happened. Just imagine, the nerd applied to join the football club. Where all the good looking boys get athletic, sweat, and pull off their shirts. To make matters worse, I’m going to be the only female there.

The problem was supposed to be easy to solve. Just cancel the application, or transfer to another club. But the principal made it clear yesterday that transferring of clubs can take place as of next session. Why would the football club accept me in the first place?

I paced down the hallway to my locker. Quiet sighs escaped my lips as I increased my pace. If I don’t hurry up, I might get to class only five minutes early. Horrible. I heard someone call my name. I turned around quickly swinging my arms. My eyes fixed on a guy in a sophisticated outfit that is too sophisticated to be worn in school, and my left arm fixed on someone’s posterior. Butt, I mean butt. I just tapped a guy’s butt.

Although we were in the hallway, and millions of people were there, but the situation would have been addressable if it was a normal person my hand landed on. But it just had to be an annoying, trouble-seeking, hot, stupid, most wanted male named Jace.

His bright green eyes widened, then a smirk brushed his lips. Je squinted his eyes, then moved closer to me.

“I see my butt was too attractive you couldn’t hold your desires down.” He whispered into my ear.

“It was a mistake. I’m sorry.”

“Hmm, a mistake, huh? Who knew nerd would be a big pervert?”

“I’m no pervert. I’ve already apologized. It was a mistake.”

“Of course, a pervert never admit his pervert deeds.”

“Do not call me a pervert!”

His eyes widened, then squinted. He grabbed my chin gently, then began to squeeze them.

“Don’t raise your voice at me. I’m not the one who made you a pervert,” He let go of my chin, then took a step back.

“See you around, pervert.”

His bright pink lips wore a smirk. He chuckled a little, then walked down the hallway.

The hallway was filled with murmurs. Aren’t you people supposed to be in class? I let out a sigh. With my eyes fixed to the floor, I walked over to my locker. The worst part about this whole incident is that I was never been called. My name was mentioned, but it was not me they were referring to. It was the other Annie, the best dancer in our school. I should have known that nobody is going to call me in this school anyways.

The sound form the bell pierced through my ears. Great, I’m going to be late to English class. I grabbed my books hurriedly, then ran to English class.

I let out a loud sigh, then pushed the door open. I slouched into the class with my books in my hands. I looked up to locate my seat, then looked down back.

“Why are you late Annie? What happened?”

Why does she have to ask? Talking in public is a thing I dread.

“Ugh, nothing.”

I threw her a fake smile, then moved to go over to my seat.

“Nothing? This is the first time you are doing this. Something had to have happened.”

Ugh, I said nothing Miss Bri, nothing.

“I just got delayed. Nothing serious.”

I threw another smile. They tried to walk over to my seat.

“Alright. You can talk to me if anything is wrong. Alright?”

“Sure, thanks.”

I let out a sigh, then walked over to my seat. I looked over to my seat again, then increased my pace towards it.

“Hey pervert.” Some guy I had no idea was in this class whispered beside me. I ignored him, then continued to walk over to my seat. I took a deep breath, then sat down.

“Alright, so we are all going to read the essay…”

I brought out my book, then followed through to what Miss Bri was saying.

“Perverts don’t read essays.” I heard a voice say beside me.

I ignored, then continued going through the essay.

“Hey pervert, why are you reading?” the voice continued.

“Pervert, pervert.”

“I am not a pervert!”

Everywhere was dead silent. I opened my eyes, then looked at everyone. They all stared with a shocked expression on their face.

“Annie, re you alright?” Miss Bria skied.

Then the room was filled with everyone’s laughter.

Tears began to build up in my eyes, then I covered my face on the table.

“Annie?” Miss Bri said walking over to me.

“I’m alright ma’am. Please continue with the class.” the trail of embarrassment could be found in my voice.

“Alright.”

The class went on and on, and my head was glued to the table. I could not raise my head up due to the shame. Then finally, the bell rang. I would have been excited, but the bell rang for me to leave one problem and enter another. I was time for club activities, which means, it’s time for me to gaze upon sweaty guys shirtless. And it’s time for people to talk about me to their friends who haven’t heard the sweetest gossip too.

I kept my head fixed on the table till the sound of people leaving died down. I raised my head a little, then peeped through my fingers to see if everyone was gone.

“Everyone is gone Annie,” Miss Bri said as she sipped from her mug.

I forgot about her.

“You care to tell me what is going on now?”

“I would love to Miss Bri, but I’m going to be late for club activities.”

“Alright, when you are ready. I am going to be here.”

I let out a really long sigh, then began to pack up my books. I rolled my eyes frequently, then slouched out of the class.

“Thanks again Miss Bri.” I said before leaving.

My walk to the football pitch is the worst walk I would have had in my whole seventeen years of existence. People kept looking straight to my face and gossiping right in front of me. They were all like ‘I guess the nerd want some boys in her life.’ And other things like ‘She’s a real pervert isn’t she? She wants to get to

the boys so she can fulfill her pervert desires. I better warn my brother.’  This is so going to be my worst and last year in high school.

I arrived at the field. My eyes lurked around the pitch and my heart kept beating like its life depended on it.

“Oh, you are the lady who applied to the football club.” A smoky voice said. I turned around swiftly.

“Um, yeah, I guess so.”

“Well, if you want to do football, you have to have that determination in your voice.” “Sir-”

“Football is a passionate sport. You have to be filled with that passion and determination.”

“Sir-”

“Being a lady doesn’t mean you can’t compete with the men.”

“Sir!”

His wrinkled face had a shocked expression all over it.  “I applied to this club by mistake.”

“Oh, I see. I was wondering why a lady would want to play football alone. But I’m sorry, you can’t change clubs for now, till next semester. You don’t have to do all the exercising. I’ll just find a way to fit you in.”

“Thanks.”

Murmurs approached closer and closer.

“Oh my goodness! We have a chick! Way to go coach. After all the work, we relax with a lady.” A guy I think whose name was Dave said as he approached the locker room with the rest of the team.

“Shut up Dave.” The coach said.

Yeah, shut up trash. Doesn’t rhyme but whatever.

“She applied here by mistake. Unfortunately, she can’t transfer till next semester.

So she’s going to be with us for now.”

“I pity for the team you’re going to be in.” Josh said with a scoff. “She’ll be in no team for now. Now, quit talking and start training.” “Alright coach.” Everyone echoed.

“You can come along to watch if you want.” The coach said.

“Alright, will join soon.”

My mom really took this football stuff seriously. She got me all the equipment I needed. I guess she is just excited that I’m trying something else other than book stuffs.

I put on my jersey, then walked over to where everyone was. My heart was pumping like it was lifting a truck. I squatted breathing heavily to catch my breath.

“Just a little run and you’re panting heavily. How we going to make three rounds?” one of the players said. Then everyone burst into laughter. “Shut up Alex. Don’t crack such stupid jokes. Now go do a quick match, we all have discussed this on the group.” The coach shot back. “Sir, Jace is not yet here.” Josh said sitting on the bench.

“I guess we’re going to start without him. Daniel, take his place. Now get into positions.”

I watched everyone position on the pitch. The coach kept yelling, and I just sat there. The cool evening breeze hit my skin leaving a cool sensation. The match hasn’t even started yet, and I’m already bored. Thank goodness I brought that novel I hadn’t finish yet.

I walked over to the locker room, then brought out my novel. I released a satisfying sigh, then sat on the bench. My eyes glued to the novel, absorbing it word for word.

“Oh my,” I heard someone say. The sound of the footsteps drew closer and closer.

“Since when do perverts join football clubs? Oh, the female ones definitely would. Why? It’s easy, so they could feast their eyes on gods like me,” The voice continued. A hand touched my chin, then pulled it up.

I knew it would be Jace, but I did not know he would be in his underwear.

“You little pervert.”

A smirk rushed his lips. His eyes twinkled in the dim light.

“I am not a pervert.”

Jace chuckled, then moved away. He leaned against the lockers, then folded his arms.

Note, he is still in his underwear. Like no clothes, just boxers. Earth, just swallow me please.

His eyes brushed from my head to my toe with that smirk. He unfolded his arms, then placed them on his hips. My eyes moved from his feet to his area.

“You little pervert. What are you doing here then all kited up.”

“I did not mean to come here. I applied my mistake. And my mum got me this.” I said with my eyes still making quick stops at his area.

Why is he even in his underwear?!

“Pervert, pervert, pervert,”

He has said pervert so much that it’s sounding weird to me. Pervert, funny. Geez, a guy is calling you a pervert and you are laughing in your head! Stupid.

“Then why are you looking?” he said walking closer to me.

He saw me?! Earth, this is a good time to swallow me please.

“You like what you see huh?” he continued squatting beside me.

“Stop it! I don’t like what I see.” I said with my head faced to the floor. “What? Everyone likes what is here. You mean, you can’t get all passionate for this?”

His face had no expression on it. His bright green eyes pierced through me leaving me with goose bumps. The air became thinner and thinner. I could hear both of us hearts beat. I could feel his carbon dioxide on my lips.

“Answer me.” He said fiercely.

“Ye-yes.” I stammered.

“Well,”

He exhaled loudly on my face, then pulled away. He let out a sigh, then leaned against the lockers.

“Challenge accepted.” He wore a smirk on his face, then walked away.
