Chapter Two.

Mirabelle's POV

****

I woke up some minutes ago with a banging headache, and all I could remember was leaving the bar after getting a text from Ken, who asked me to come over to Lorenzo's Hotel, but what I simply didn't understand was why the room was empty with no sign of him.

Plus when I woke up, I saw myself naked under the sheets with a weird stinging feeling between my legs.

It made me wonder if something happened between us last night while I was drunk.

I pressed my palm against my forehead to reduce the aching pain then I headed in the direction of the dressing room in search of Ken.

"Ken, where are you?" I called out, but there was no sign of him there.

"Ken?" I repeated, also checking the bathroom for him, but he wasn't there as well, which made me anxious.

"Why isn't he anywhere in the room? He could've just woke me up or waited for me to be awake before leaving," I huffed while complaining, and my gaze darted to my purse on the dressing table.

I walked up to it, took my phone out, dialed Ken's line, and then placed the phone close to my ear once the line connected.

"What's up, Ken? Where are you? I've been searching for you all over the room, but_" My words were cut short by Ken's thunderous and commanding tone.

"I want to see you home right this minute, Mirabelle! I give you just ten minutes. Ten minutes to get that ass of yours here!" Ken's voice booms through the speaker and my brows deepen in both concern and confusion.

"What happened? Is something wrong over there? Ken, what ha_ Beep Beep_" The call ended before I could even ask him what was wrong.

What's wrong with him? Why does he sound so enraged? Did I do something wrong or what?

I sighed deeply, knowing that if I was going to get any answers to my questions as to why he sounded the way he did, then I needed to head home right away.

Stepping into the mansion through the grand double doors, my husband's cold voice sliced through the air, stunning me as I froze in place.

"Where were you last night, Mirabelle?" He demanded.

I frowned at him, confused by his question, "What do you mean?"

"Don't act dumb to my question, Mirabelle. Where the hell were you?!" He demanded again, making me skeptical.

"Why are you asking where I was when you were the one who texted me, asking me to come over to Lorenzo's hotel?"

"Lies! Instead of coming up with such ridiculous lies, why not just admit that you went to see your lover? It’s not like it’s anything new, is it?" Ken ridiculed me with a sneer.

"No way, Ken. How is that even possible? I was with you last night, and I am telling you for the umpteenth time right now that I do not have a lover!" I am fed up with Ken's accusations.

I don't know why he was just so fucking obsessed with always saying I have a lover outside our marriage!

How else was I going to make him understand or believe that I have no lover aside from him?

"Then tell me, why weren’t you home last night? Why didn't you come home? Do you even know what time it is right now?!" His voice thundered and I Involuntarily flinched at his tone even though I was mad at him.

"What do you mean? I was with you last night, Ken. I came to the hotel just as you told me, got into the exact room number, and... " My voice faded out as my brows formed deep lines. I tried to recall what happened afterward but my mind was blank with no memory of it.

“And?" Ken asked with a disgusted look on his face.

I could see the disgust and irritation in his eyes as he took long strides toward me.

I began to panic, growing anxious cause I couldn't tell what he was up to.

Is he going to hurt me? But I did nothing wrong! I would have returned home if he hadn't asked me to come meet him at the hotel yesterday.

Instinctively drawing back, I felt tension cracking in the air. Suddenly, a white document struck my face, and the pages fell around me like autumn leaves.

Wondering what the papers contained, I watched them flutter to the ground and settle softly like feathers.

“What are all these?” I asked as my heart pounded in my ears.

“Something I should have done a long time ago, Mirabelle. I warned you that if you ever cheated on me again, I would file for a divorce. You did and that’s exactly what I’m doing!”

"What?" I gasped In disbelief. "I didn’t cheat on you. I was with you in the hotel room. Why are you doing this? I was in the exact room but when I woke up this morning, you weren't there with me."

“Oh, shut the hell up, Mirabelle. Who do you think you’re lying to? A child? A baby?!" Ken questioned harshly and spitted to the side. "You disgust me!"

My heart ached as I reached out to grasp his hand in fear as tears clouded my eyes. "Just stop it. If this is an act then please end it. You're hurting me. You're getting me scared. I have no lover. You know that I've always loved you alone so there's no need for this divorce. You're being childish."

Ken slapped my hand away before I could make contact. "Quit lying to me! Accept the fact that you are nothing more than a whore who goes around sleeping with every man!"

"No!" I screamed, hot tears rolling down my cheeks. "You sent me a text asking me to come over to the Lorenzo's Hotel, room 901, and I did! But when I got there, I don't know what happened. I woke up and found myself alone in the room before I decided to call you to know why you weren't there."

“Text?” Ken scoffed, disbelief dripped from his tone. “I didn’t send you any text and I didn't leave this house. I was at home waiting all through the night for you to return! I called your line several times, but it didn't even get connected!"

My brows furrowed when he mentioned that he was never in the hotel with me. “What do you mean? I was with you and you even sent me a text. Hold on a minute, let me show you_"

What? My purse isn't with me! Dang it!

I cussed after realizing that I must've left it in the cab while in a hurry to get home.

Ken scowled at me, rolling his eyes as if I was the most awful thing he had ever set his eyes upon.

He pulled out his phone from his pants, played a video, and then turned the screen to me.

"Here is what happened last night, Mirabelle. Do you still want to deny it? Do you want to deny the despicable and horrendous act you committed last night while being married to me!"

My body trembled as I felt my heart sink, watching myself get intimate with a stranger in the dimmed hotel room I was in.

The room was dark in the video but my face was visible like an unknown flashlight was fixed on me.

The strange man's broad back faced the camera as he pinned me on both sides of the bed which resorted to the reason why the camera did not capture his face but only did to mine.

I can't accept this. I did nothing of this sort. How is it even possible? I am sure that I had been with Ken last night.

My lip quivered as I put in more effort to make Ken believe me and not the video that was in his hand.

"This is rubbish. It's fake, Ken... I didn't do anything like that. Believe me, the video is fake! It's all fake! I never did anything that happened in the video..." A harsh pain suddenly shot into my head.

I clutched my head as the pain increased drastically and I couldn't stop myself from groaning as I staggered backward.

Raw images flooded into my mind like CCTV footage and the realization hit my guts, remembering everything that happened last night with the stranger.

The way his voice sounded in the dark, the texture of his hair while my fingers threaded into it and then his physique when I held onto him last night while we got intimate had no difference when compared to Ken.

To top things off, I was also drunk last night, making me unable to figure out in time that the stranger wasn't Ken.

No wonder Ken kept telling me that he wasn't with me last night in the hotel room. It was the stranger I ended up with. Oh, goodness. What have I done to myself?
