a god or a demon
Chapter five(A god or demon)
Sapphire's Point Of View:
A smirk crawled on his face, his blue eyes pinning me again the same way they did a few days ago. My heart ran wild, my grasp tightening on my bag as I tried looking away but I couldn't for some reason. We were intertwined.
“Sit." He ordered, stretching out his hand to the seat across his. I nodded, flashing him a smile, “thank you, sir." I spoke so nicely that I couldn't help but wonder if it was truly me who spoke. The Sapphire I knew could never speak so nicely to a random man, especially one who I slept with.
“Can we meet tonight?” He asked. His questions had my heart thumping hard against my ribcage. I began to stutter.
“I-i- s-sure. Of course, I'll b-be here tonight.” I replied.
"No, no, not here. I mean in that same hotel.” He clarified. I averted his eyes for a while. “Courage, gorgeous.” He repeated those same words he said last night. “You'll be safe." He added.
I nodded, "B-but I….”
"Perhaps my house will be fine then?” He proposed. I immediately shook my head vigorously, "No, no. The hotel is perfectly fine for us to meet.".
He nodded, “Great. Don't be so tight, feel free here. I wouldn't have hired you instead of that other girl if I wanted to make you feel uncomfortable.”.
“I'm not feeling uncomfortable with you. It's just….that night, I- I'm really sorry for…. everything and I- I wish I could really make it up to you. What can I do to please you? I'm so sorry, I was only drunk.” I apologized.
He nodded without saying another word.
“I should get to work now." I suggested.
~
I walked into the room slowly, that same room where we had sex that night. He was already seated there on the bed with some papers in the bed right beside him.
I closed the door behind me, turning back to him. “Sir." I said as I walked in.
He patted the bed softly, gesturing for me to come. I reluctantly went and sat right beside him. He grabbed the file by his other side, bringing it close to me and handling it to me.
“Oh. The schedule book, I'm sorry I forgot to pick it up this afternoon.” I apologized, opening the schedule file. “We have a meeting tomorrow with…” I paused, looking into the file.
'Contract For Marriage’
'Parties involved:’
'Sapphire Sage’
'Landon Rykhard’
I threw my gaze back up to look at his face that already had a smirk on it as if he was playing some sort of dirty gamble with me.
“A contract marriage? What for?" I asked, raising a brow.
“For some business dealings. As my personal assistant, you must be willing to sacrifice both your time and personal life for this job, understand?” He asked, crossing his arms.
“What do you mean by this? I-"
His hands came near my face, pushing a few strands of my hair behind my ear. It felt as if he deliberately was trying to seduce me but I wouldn't let my guard down this time.
I, SAPPHIRE SAGE, LOVE MY BOYFRIEND, TYLER DANVERS, WHO LOVES ME BACK DEARLY.
“What do I mean by this? Unless you don't love your job anymore? I can find a committed personal assistant who will be willing to get married to Landon Rykhard.” He said, his voice as sly as ever as if he didn't have a care in the world.
“I….but… Okay fine, but how long is this supposed to last for the business deal?” I asked.
"Not much. Just six months.” He replied.
I nodded, reading through the contract. After reading through it and understanding, I took a pen from my bag and signed it, yet I immediately regretted it. What on Earth would I tell Tyler?!
“So when is the wedding?” I asked.
"Two weeks." He said before giving me a ring. “There, never take that off, okay?".
I nodded, slipping in the ring even though I knew as soon as u got out of this hotel, I would take it right off.
“Well, I think that's it right, sir? I need to get going, my mother would be worried sick.” I said, tossing the pen back into my bag.
"What can I do to please you?" He said, reminding me of my own words from earlier today. I halted, forcing a smile before grabbing my bag. Before I could stand to my feet, he grasped my arm. “I know you know what to do." He smirked.
I snatched my arm from him. "I'm sorry, but not this again. You are my boss. I can't be doing this when I'm sober. That night was a mistake, I don't want the same mistake happening again.” I said, leaving.
As soon as I got to the door, I felt his arm around my waist. My bag automatically slipped from my hand. No, no, no, what was I doing? I didn't plan to melt away! He was my boss, a stranger!
I turned, pushing him away gently. He immediately grabbed both my hands and pinned it above me on the wall. He didn't only pin my hand, he also pinned my soul with his eyes.
He smirked, his face drawing close to mine. He was about to close the distance between our faces when he spoke.
“Just tell me to stop and I will, forever, we won't have to do this, neither will we have to do the contract marriage.” He taunted.
I stared into his ice blue eyes that froze my heart so intensely that I couldn't even control my own heartbeat anymore. What is he? A god? Or a demon?
To prove how intense his eyes were, I failed to even blink, the only way I escaped his gaze was to look down at his astonishing full lips. I didn't know what I was doing, I only went with the flow.
“I don't want you to stop, sir" I pronounced softly.
