7) scent!

Like everyday Serenity came out of the river disappointed because she didn't die. She sighed removing the wet hair from her face.

It was darkness everywhere and forest was filled with crickets noise. She could feel vampire presence near her and wolves were already howling looking at the full moon.

Serenity walked towards the campus through narrow pathway.

"Aren't you afraid of the darkness?"

She heard Albert who came from behind.

"I am the darkness"

Serenity mumbled.

"I don't think so... You look like an Angel... By the way why are you wet"

He trying to match steps with her.

She sighed.

"I was trying to kill myself but failed."

"You are funny but sometimes your jokes seems real..."

He chuckled awkwardly.

"Don't talk to me Albert, you will get in trouble."

Serenity said.

"It's against rules... You can't be friends with volunteers..."

"I know but whenever I look at you, i think it will be worth"

He said looking at her adoringly.

Serenity looked at him awkwardly.

"Albert I___"

"No, don't take me seriously"

He chuckled.

"I am just one of the admirers... Seriously, Sera what is the secret of your beauty... You can make the world knelt before you just with one smile... You seems special..."

"I don't know"

She replied nonchalantly and tried to walk fast. Sun was about to rose everyone was going back to the campus.

"As always, you are not ready to tell me anything... At least tell me how old are you?"

He sighed.

"18"

She replied.

"Please don't create problems for yourself..."

She said and walked inside the main gate. Albert sighed and walked in the opposite direction.

"Sera where were you? Take your place, kings are arriving soon..."

One of her colleague said.

"Nora, I am not In the welcome ceremony... I'll be working in the back..."

Serenity replied. There is no way she is going in for kings.

"Ohh, alright then..."

Nora said and walked away.

"Everyone take your position!"

Head of the event said and serenity quickly hid behind the big pillar.

Volunteers quickly took their places and campus filled with rhythmic voice of drums and other instruments.

Her heart started beating fast when she saw big black limo entering through the main gate.

As soon as door got opened her senses filled with her mates senses. Scents which she loves more than anything. Her eyes filled with tears as she remembered their sweet memories.

Tear escaped from her eyes when she saw Lucifer coming out of the car. One of her silent mate, she knows that he shows himself tough but he actually has very soft heart. But his grey eyes looked sad, no one noticed it except serenity.

She looked at Vincent when came out after Lucifer. Her heart started racing when she saw his green eyes, glowing as always. He is the smartest one, always know how to handle difficult situation which never fails to impress serenity.

And she couldn't stop her tears when she saw Nicolai. Not seeing that love in his amber eyes broke her heart. Nicolai is the most friendly and approachable among the brothers and serenity didn't take much time to connect with him. They have so many sweet and happy memories.

She was relieved that at least they are doing good. May be they have forgotten her and she didn't mind because she knows that she is going to die soon.

Brothers started walking inside with powerful aura, ignoring curious gaze on them. Each and every eye was on them. They are used to this attention. But all three of them halted in their places when they got the hint of serenity's scent.

Her stomach churned she took out the flower from her pocket trying to hide her scent.

Vincent looked at Nicolai and Lucifer confused, asking him if he smelled the same. Lucifer took a big sniff but couldn't find her scent, that magical flower was hiding it perfectly.

"Wow! They are so handsome"

Serenity heard group of witches whispering.

"Offcourse they are handsome and powerful afterall they are first hybrids of this world..."

Another one exclaimed.

"But i heard that they have a queen.."

Another one whispered.

"No, they don't have queen anymore... Haven't you Heard that their queen betrayed them... I have also heard that she was powerful than kings..."

She said.

"I don't think so... Kings are most powerful and they are ruling us. If queen is more powerful then where is she?"

Serenity ignored them and went back to her room.

Kings ignored the hint thinking it was their Illusion and Started walking inside. Volunteer led them towards their chamber.

"This is your chamber your majesty... One of the volunteer will be always outside... I wish you a good day..."

He said and bowed down.

"I'll take your permission now."

Saying that he left.

They entered inside their chamber. It was designed with old aesthetics, just like it's back in their castle. It has huge bed which can easily fit 10 people. Furniture is made up of sandalwood and covered with red velvety clothes.

"Was it just me or did you guys smelled her too?"

Nicolai asked.

"I thought so too but it was something else, this place has magical powers..."

Vincent replied while taking of his coat.

They looked at the Lucifer who was looking out of the window.

"I feel her presence around..."

He mumbled.

Nicolai and Vincent sighed.

"There are thousands of supernaturals in this place, Lucifer... You are hallucinating."

Vincent said.

Lucifer glared at him.

"You think I will misunderstood my mates presence..."

He spat.

"She is not our mate anymore... Don't forget what she has done to us..."

Nicolai said madly.

"Even if she is here, it's none of our business..."

"Nicolai"

Vincent said and he looked at him.

"I was wondering, If she wanted to do it for power then i think she has enough powers to rule the world... She is not ruling it then what is she doing right now... Wasn't that the motive behind her behaviour."

Lucifer's head snapped towards him.

"What are you trying to say Vincent?"

He asked.

"I don't know why but It feels like we are missing something... I never talked about it but i was waiting for her to come back and claim the throne which is ours... Hundred years passed by but she didn't even show her face... And we were supposed to get complaints of random killing like we got in castel but it disappeared along with her."

Vincent suggested.

"I don't know anything about it Vincent... But i can't forget that she has killed our daughter... Whatever her motive was, i won't forgive her."

Nicolai replied hatefully.

"Throne comes with responsibilities and sacrifices, Vincent... She isn't worthy for this responsibilities neither she is selfless enough to make sacrifices..."

Lucifer replied with hard face.

"Right! She must be enjoying her life somewhere... Living like a queen of her own world. What else she needs... She must be happy making our lives hell... I don't want to talk about her man."

Nicolai said madly and walked away.

On other hand serenity was working with other people. She was trying to cope up with others but her energy was lacking. She wasn't feeling powerful enough to do her tasks.

"Are you okay Sera?"

Nora asked.

"You don't look good today"

"Yes, just little tired... Don't worry, I'll be fine."

Serenity replied with small smile.

"You can take a rest of you want... I'll do your work"

Nora suggested.

"No, It's fine... I am fine..."

Serenity replied.

She didn't stop working, she knows if her mind has nothing to do then she will start thinking about them and it will make her sad.

"Sera, Norman is doing something else, can you clean 5th floor..."

One of the volunteer informed her.

"I am sorry, i know you already have so much in your plate but no one is ready to do it."

"Offcourse, no problem..."

She replied.

It was evening when serenity went to Clean the 5th floor. It was empty as library closes in the evening.

Her body was aching with pain, legs were hurting making difficult for her to stand for a long time.

Her body was becoming like a human.

"Will you stop hurting and die already."

She said in frustration.

"Haven't we lived enough."

Her hair suddenly got released from her hair tie started  swaying with cool breeze. She struggled to tame it with her dirty hands.

"Excuse me, where is the library?"

Serenity froze i her place when she heard Nicolai's voice.
