Chapter 5

Gabrielle's POV

"Today wasn't that bad."

"True."

Those same four girls walked up to me.

"How are you his girl? Have you seen yourself?"

"Star I thought we weren't gonna mess with her anymore."

"Correction you said you wouldn't. I never said anything about me."

"Please just leave me alone."

"No. Actually I'll be right back."

She ran towards Jacob's team.

"We are so sorry for how she's treating you."

I looked and saw her all over Jacob.

"Why is she doing this?"

"She's been wanting him since he became captain."

"Just about every girl wants him."

She looked back at me then looked away.

"Please make her stop."

"We try to. She never listens. We're not like her. We just go with it."

"Then why are you friends with her?"

"Our parents work together so we don't really have a choice."

I saw him look at me. He started running over to me.

"You okay?"

"No."

"We're so sorry about her. We really are. We'll leave you alone."

The other three girls ran away.

"Why was she all over you?"

"She's clearly jealous of you."

"Does every girl here really want you?"

"Unfortunately. But I've only got eyes for you. So you can trust me."

"Anyway what are Karla and Christina over there doing?"

"They're cheerleaders. They're tumbling."

"Woah! What was that!"

"I'm pretty sure that was a cartwheel."

"Hey Jacob."

"Hi Marisa."

Who is this?

"I was thinking after the game we could go get something to eat."

I guess they are all after him.

"Uh no. You ask this every year. You're gonna get the same answer."

"Come on! Please!"

"Knock it off."

She stormed off.

"What's her deal?"

"She's the most ANNOYING cheer captain you'll ever meet. Every year she freaking asks me out. I tell her "no" all the time."

"I AM NOT ANNOYING!"

"YES YOU ARE!"

"No wonder she keeps staring at you."

"Well I'm yours so she can go fuck a duck."

"That's funny."

"Thank you. I try. If she gives you any problems let me know."

"DAWN! STOP FLIRTING AND GET OVER HERE! IF YOU'RE NOT OVER HERE IN 10 SECONDS YOU'RE GONNA RUN FOUR LAPS!"

"SHE'S MY FREAKING GIRLFRIEND! I'M SUPPOSED TO FLIRT!"

I laughed.

"I gotta go. Sorry I gave you a label already. I can't just going around telling everyone you're my mate."

"So what does that make you to me?"

"I'm your boyfriend."

"I SAID "STOP FLIRTING!" JACOB!"

He kissed my cheek then ran back over to everyone.

I have no idea what they're doing. I watched the cheerleaders doing all these flips.

"WATCH OUT!"

I see a  ball flying towards me.

"INCOMING FOOTBALL! DUCK!"

I put my hands up and caught it.

"NICE CATCH GAB!"

I stood up and started walking over to hand the ball to Jacob. He started running towards me. We met in the middle of the field.

"Sorry about that."

"It's no problem."

I handed him the football.

"I'm serious that was a good catch."

"Thanks. Try not to kill me."

"No promises."

"DAWN'S GIRL'S HOT!"

"PISS OFF CAL!"

"So I'm not hot?"

"You are. He's just being Cal."

I started walking back to the bleachers.

"WATCH OUT! SHE HASN'T FIGURED OUT HOW TO STOP DOING CARTWHEELS YET!"

I went to step back. I didn't move fast enough. Next thing I know there's a body on top of me.

"GABBY!"

I looked up and saw Jacob.

"You're upside down."

He laughed.

"Oh god I'm so sorry."

"You're fine."

"Are you okay?"

"I'm fine."

"Gab you okay?"

"Yeah I'm good."

He held out his arm and helped me get up.

"I'm gonna need my own bubble. That's the second time today something's hit me. I wanna try something."

I don't know what made me do it but I started running. I put my arms by my side,leaned over, then I saw everything going upside down. I landed on my feet.

"Holy crap! That was a perfect ariel! Come here I wanna see something. We're down a flyer. I'd like to see if you can do it."

"Flyer? What's that?"

"People lift you up in the air. Once you're in the air grab your other foot and pull it above your head."

I stepped on two people's hands then they grabbed one of my feet. They pushed me up into the air. I did what I was told to. I grabbed my foot then raised it above my head.

"Lock your knees! Perfect!"

"How do I get down?"

"They'll toss you! Now do a high V!"

"A high what now? I'm sorry did you say they're gonna toss me?"

"Yep. And just make a fist and put your other arm up! Just like that! Now hold your foot with your other hand! Put your arm through the opening! Perfect! Alright bring her down."

Don't fall. Don't fall.

I got tossed in the air.

"AHH! SOMEBODY BETTER CATCH ME!"

I landed in their arms.

"How would you like to be a cheerleader?"

"I don't know anything about it though."

"You'll have to learn everything quickly. Our first game is in 4 days. We need you for the halftime routine."

"Okay."

"We're doing uniform fittings right now. Come with me."

She walked me into this house and brought me upstairs.

"I'm not sure if any of these will fit you. You're extremely skinny."

"I know. I have to gain my weight back."

"Here. This is the smallest size we have. Once you start gaining weight you'll get a new one."

"Okay."

I tired on the uniform and it fit.

"Here's pom poms,briefs,a bodysuit,your bag, your bow,and sneakers. These should fit."

I tried the shoes on and they fit too.

"Alright. I'll see you at the homecoming game."

"What's homecoming?"

"You didn't have that at your old school?"

"This is my first time in a school since I was 6."

"Oh well in that case. You really need to learn quickly."
