Chapter 2
On the way out in the car, I couldn't help but recall the first time I met Santiago.
Our meeting was orchestrated by Santiago's mother.
Santiago's mother was a private client of mine. As a fashion designer, she loved the clothes I designed and often invited me to her home for custom fittings.
One time, when I entered the Flores family’s residence, I noticed another man sitting on the living room sofa.
It wasn't until Santiago's mother spoke that I realized he was the esteemed young master of the Flores family, Santiago.
I wasn't stupid. Although Santiago's mother didn't explicitly say it, I knew she wanted to set us up.
She had told me more than once that she liked me and wanted me to become her daughter-in-law.
As it happened, Santiago didn't seem to dislike my presence either.
Gradually, we became familiar with each other.
On the day we confirmed our relationship, I gave Santiago a pair of exquisite cufflinks that I had personally designed.
The elegance of these cufflinks lay in their hidden lock, with the other end being a matching ladies' cufflink.
The matching cufflink was kept in my jewelry box.
When Santiago received my gift, he merely thanked me with a calm expression.
Knowing he wasn't someone who easily expressed his feelings, I didn't think much of it.
However, a month later, I saw him at the airport, beaming as he welcomed his childhood friend Serenity.
At that moment, I realized he wasn't always so reserved.
