Chapter 7: Mr. Robinson Requests an Audience!

Georgia stood there, dumbfounded, staring at Beckett with a bewildered expression. This was her first time seeing him, she'd swear to it.

Beckett turned to glare at the security guard before barking, "Open your eyes and look carefully! This is Miss Adams, an honored guest of the Atkinson Group. As of today, you're fired! Get lost, you idiot!"

The guard's jaw dropped, but before he could say anything, Beckett turned to Georgia. "Miss Adams, I'm terribly sorry. I've just fired this fool. Please, come in. I'm finalizing the contract now. Once it's ready, I was planning to bring it to you personally."

Georgia felt like her head was spinning. Was this a dream? It felt so real!

"Mr. Robinson, did you say you're working on the contract? Does that mean my family got it?" Georgia asked, looking at Beckett with a mix of shock and awe.

Beckett nodded firmly. "Of course, it's for you, Miss Adams!"

Georgia swallowed hard, convinced she must have misheard.

Beckett added, "How about this, Miss Adams? Why don't you head home and wait for me? I'll bring the contract over for you to sign once it's ready. It might take a little while, so I won't keep you waiting here."

He couldn't risk offending such an important guest.

Though it all felt surreal, Georgia managed a nod. "Alright, I'll wait for you at home, Mr. Robinson."

After parting ways with Beckett, Georgia couldn't help but let out a long sigh. This was too dreamlike, it couldn't possibly be real! She'd been mentally prepared for failure, and now this complete turnaround!

Had Beckett mistaken her for someone else? Or was he just messing with her?

Either way, she might as well go home and wait.

As she rode her motorcycle, Georgia's mind started to wander.

Suddenly, her phone rang. She pulled it out to see Old Mrs. Adams' number on the screen. No doubt she was calling about the contract. After a moment's hesitation, Georgia answered.

Old Mrs. Adams' furious voice came through. "Georgia, where are you?"

The tone was so angry it made Georgia flinch.

Georgia looked around before stammering, "I... I just left the Atkinson Group."

"You have ten minutes. Get home now." With that, Old Mrs. Adams hung up abruptly.

Georgia shrugged helplessly and sped home on her motorcycle.

Ten minutes later, she arrived at the Adams family mansion. Old Mrs. Adams was already waiting in the grand hall, looking furious enough to eat someone alive. Jamie, Layla, and the others sat smugly beside her, eagerly awaiting Georgia's return.

As soon as Georgia entered, Jamie sneered, "Well, look who's back."

Layla chimed in, "So, didn't you go to negotiate with the Atkinson Group? How'd it go? If you sealed the deal, why don't you show Grandma the contract?"

"Come on, Layla," Jamie interjected. "You think just anyone can waltz in and sign a contract with the Atkinson Group? I wonder if she even got to see Mr. Robinson."

"Yeah, and just imagine what she rode there on - a motorcycle! A two-wheeled eco-friendly vehicle. She's lucky if they didn't throw her out on the spot."

Jamie couldn't resist adding, "Georgia, seriously? Riding a motorcycle there? You're not just embarrassing yourself, you're embarrassing our whole family. What do you think the Atkinson Group will say about the Adams family now? They'll think we're looking down on them! Who'd believe that a family as big as ours doesn't have a single car?"

"A car!" Georgia said with bitter sarcasm. "If I had one, do you think I'd be riding that motorcycle? You've got some nerve. All you do is cruise around in your fancy car, tattling and bullying people. What good are you?"

"Enough!" Old Mrs. Adams' anger had been building, and she finally slammed her hand on the table. The teacup sitting there toppled over, spilling tea everywhere.

This silenced the squabbling siblings, and Georgia felt her heart skip a beat.

"Georgia!" Old Mrs. Adams' face was stern. "How did the contract negotiations go?"

Georgia was caught off guard by the sudden question. Before she could answer, Old Mrs. Adams demanded icily, "Speak!"

Georgia swallowed hard before replying, "Mr. Robinson said he'd bring the contract over later."

Old Mrs. Adams' heart leapt. She shot to her feet. "Georgia, what did you just say?"

Startled by her grandmother's reaction, Georgia composed herself and repeated, "Grandma, Mr. Robinson said he'd bring the contract over once it's ready. He's decided to sign with our family."

"Is that true?" Old Mrs. Adams was so excited she nearly stumbled forward. This could be the moment that changed the Adams family's fate. If they secured this contract, it would mean direct cooperation with the Atkinson Group. The Adams family would be on the fast track to success. In less than three years, they could become a top-tier family.

"Pfft!" Suddenly, Jamie burst out laughing. He quickly moved to support Old Mrs. Adams. "Grandma, you can't possibly believe what Georgia's saying, can you?"

Old Mrs. Adams turned to Jamie, puzzled. "Jamie, what do you mean?"

Jamie smiled. "Grandma, isn't it obvious Georgia's lying? She went there on a motorcycle. Forget about negotiating, I doubt she even saw Mr. Robinson. You think just anyone can meet him? I've heard that many big shots in Hiphia - like Mr. Castaneda from Golden Source Company, Mr. Benton from the Benton Group, and Mr. Taylor from Sky Company - they're all worth billions, and they've all tried to meet Mr. Robinson about this contract. But he wouldn't see any of them. Think about it, Grandma. Those people all have more to offer than our family, and even they couldn't get a meeting. How could Georgia?"

Old Mrs. Adams' brow furrowed as her excitement faded. Jamie had a point. Beckett had better options; why would he choose the Adams Group? She'd let Georgia's lie cloud her judgment, all because she was so desperate for this deal. Realizing this, she turned to Georgia with a fierce look. "Georgia, are you trying to give me a heart attack? Haven't I always taught you better? It's one thing if you couldn't get the contract, but how dare you lie?"

Georgia shook her head vigorously. "No, I'm not lying!"

"Grandma, every word I've said is true!" Georgia insisted earnestly. Truth be told, she herself couldn't understand why Beckett had said those things to her.

Jamie chuckled. "Even if it were true, Mr. Robinson must have been stringing you along. You showed up on a motorcycle - that's practically an insult to Mr. Robinson. Do you really think someone at his level means everything they say? Georgia, you're so naive!"

His words sent a chill through Georgia's heart.

He was right. How had she not considered this? People at that level always have hidden meanings in their words and actions.

Just as this thought crossed her mind, the butler's voice rang out from the doorway. "Madam, Mr. Robinson is at the door requesting to see you!"
