'this one is nice,' Venus said, nodding at the maroon dress in Athenas wardrobe, today was an annual pack business celebration,

it was after a months dealing that the alpha had finally come to mutual grounds with the ruler of the night court, it was a night of celebration as making peaceful negotiations with a celestial was hard to come by.

preparations were under way since the day before and the party was tonight, but Athena had been completely zoned out throughout the whole thing,

it had been a week and a half since she had bumped into Azarious, she didnt know what to make of anything that was going on around her, did he know that theyre mates? she wondered.

snapping out of her thoughts she just nodded her head at the pretty maroon dress her mom had chosen for her, her lycan was happily howling around in eagerness to see her mate, it was early evening when Athena in a daze went to shower and dress up,

she did her makeup naturally and applied a bold maroon lip colour, doing a subtle winged linger and keeping everything to a minimal, wearing an elegant bracelet and earrings her mom gave her to wear with a pair of transparent heels that matched her outfit, she did her hair in loose curls and applied her perfume, ready and satisfied she went down stairs where her dad was already lounging in a royal blue suit that looked striking on him,

'i see youre bored too,' Athena said, walking into the living room

Dante turned around to see his daughter looking lovely but the slit in her dress made him frown, better get her a tailor that doesn't tear every dress and actually keeps it stitched in one piece, he thought.

'you look lovely, now if i could just ask your mother to stitch up this tear along your dress-'

Dante got cut off when a hand swatted him across the head,

'i will be doing no such thing,' Venus said glaring at her mate who was frowning at the 'cut' in the dress but he momentarily got distracted when he saw his wife all beautifully dolled up with her hair styled in a black long fitted dress that made her look so very elegant and sexy at the same time, giving her his signature smirk she rolled her eyes as they went towards the dining room,

'i really dont wanna know what theyll be doing there,' Abel said, walking across the foyer while fixing his cufflinks, dressed in a silver suit looking handsome and ever, the genes in the family were immaculate,

'come we have to go now we should be there 15 mins earlier than the rest, mom and dad will be a little late i believe,' Abel said, giving her his arm as they walked towards the car.

they reached the grand hall soon after, greeting pack members on the way as they made sure everything was perfect for the event, Athena's nerves were a tangled mess, her heartbeat would start accelerating randomly after every few minutes, she was sure she'd leave on a stretcher tonight.

an hour later all the guests were pouring in, her uncles and aunts were there too along with her friends, her parents made their grand entrance and soon after they were just waiting for Azarious.

Suddenly the caller announced the arrival of His Majesty Azarious and hushed murmurs started through the crowd, a few moments later deep booted footsteps resonated across the hall, Athena could see his head throught the swarm of people as he was one of the tallest people in the room along with her father and her uncle knox,

Athena felt that same fuzzy feeling in her chest as she felt last time, along with butterflies in her stomach, the entire crowd parted, like the red sea did for Moses, everyones eyes were on the tall dark and handsome man clad in a black as sin suit looking so sharp and forbidding Athena felt a chill run down her spine,

his hair was styled and his face, boy did he not disappoint, his neat stubble was trimmed to perfection, his eyes cold and calculating, eyes scanning the crowd, hunting for a certain someone, and just when Athena sighed with relief that he didn't see her, his dark probing eyes landed on her, rooting her in place,

as he held her under his heated gaze, eyes boring her hers and then they travelled down her length, taking in everything, and then back up to her face, his face giving nothing away,

'Azarious, happy to see you made it,' Knox said, giving him a firm handshake, and soon after he greeted everyone, when it was Athenas turn she was about to make a sprint for the hills in her 6 inch stilettos when she realised it was too late to run, he was right in front of her,

'hello again,' he said, his deep voice making her fingertips tingle, extending his hand to her, as she gave him her hand thinking it was a mere handshake but to her surprise he tilted her hand and placed a kiss to the upside of it, warm lips on soft skin.

Athena felt zaps all across her body, feeling the electricity from his touch she quickly snatched her hand from his and tucked it behind her safely away from his reach, and a smirk made way to his face, eyes dancing with amusement, Athena had to bite down on her lip to stop herself from smiling,

'hi,' Athena said shyly, GIRL WHAT HAS GOTTEN INTO YOU? she screamed at herself internally,

'how have you been, Athena,' he said, damn him he said her name on purpose, and it felt so sinfully right the way her name rolled off his tongue, he was teasing her, sly bastard, but Athena was up for the challenge,

'wonderful, thank you for asking, Azarious,' the second his name slipped from her lips Athena could have sworn his eyes flashed and if possible they darkened further if that was even humanly possible,

'good to tear,' came his clipped reply, as he tipped his head at her and moved on to greet others, Athena turned to look at his retreating back only to find most of the pack girls giving him lustful looks, Athena wanted to rip their throats out, MINE sage growled in her head,

wanting to distract herself Athena went to Grace, Jake and Abel who were with a few of their other friends, Grace looked like a literal barbie doll in her halter neckline blue dress that matched her eyes,

'classy babe,' Athena commented winking at Grace, who hugged her and greeted her back. It had been a while since they were mingling with each other, on the opposite end of the room Azarious held a drink in hand conversing with the people around him with such aristocratic ease Athena wondered if he was really half as bad as people portrayed him,

'im going out to get some fresh air,' Athena mumbled leaning close to Grace who nodded in understanding, as Athena made her way out through the big doors that led to the balcony, the moon was up high in the sky with a gentle soft breeze that kissed her skin,

sighing with content she braced her hands on the railing and closed her eyes, the noise inside was getting too much for her, plus sage constantly urging her to go to her mate wasn't helping either,

'do you have a habit of always running away from me or is it a werewolf thing that you love the chase?' Azarious asked, his deep voice reverberating through the empty balcony space as he emerged from the shadows, clad in a dark tux, he looked sinfully beautiful Athena thought,

'lycan,' she corrected, turning around to fully face him, thrusting her chin up in pride as he regarded her in cool silence while she trembled under his gaze internally, she could never tell what he was thinking, his onyx eyes gave away nothing,

'you didn't answer my question,' he said instead,

Athena didn't know what came over her at that moment, either it was the way the moonlight shone over his handsome face, or it was the powerful aura of dominance and authority he emitted, maybe it was her lycan being too bold she told herself instead, refusing to accept the other two thoughts,

swaying her hips seductively she walked towards him and pressed her lips to his neck, thankfully for her 6 inch stilettos she was able to reach his neck, else it would've been impossible given her 5'6 height and his 6'3 tall frame, she heard him inhale sharply not expecting her move,

nipping at his neck and placing an open mouth kiss she leaned up and looked at him innocently,

'what were you saying again?'

Azarious growled in reply and moved forward, Athenas fake bravado was now chipping away as his minty scent tingled her body, she was now caged between the balcony railing and a 6'3 celestial that was very much her mate who she had been avoiding,

trapped she looked up and gave him a sheepish smile as he held her pinned under his dark gaze, suddenly jumping off the balcony doesn't sound that bad, Athena thought to herself, peering over the railing,

as if sensing what her intentions were Azarious held her firmly but gently by the arms, the second his hands made contact with her skin, zaps ran all across her body, Athena gasped and she heard Azarious take in a deep breath,

'you feel that too,' he said, but it was a statement more of a question,

'so this confirms what i was debating on,' he continued, as Athena looked around the balcony finding the pillars very very pretty suddenly, grasping her chin he made her look at him,

'i am your mate, correct?'

'ummm,'

'Athena..,' he drawled out, giving her a warning look, the way he said her name damn him for being so sexy,

'yes you are, so what,' Athena said shrugging, and she felt the grip on her chin tighten slightly,

'is that so,' came a dangerously low voice, and Athena gulped, and shook her head lightly, she turned her head around and found her face a few inches away from his, she could practically FEEL his lips hovering over hers,

Azarious eyes zeroed on her lips, he wanted a taste, but he paused, if she wanted this, she'd make a move first, not him.

Athena against her will felt herself leaning even closer to him, she wanted her lips on his, she NEEDED this, the distance was driving her insane, she was a hairs-breath away from him when she heard the most ferocious growl,

'WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?' Dante thundered, his eyes filled with murderous intent zoned in on Azarious, a second later Venus came rushing and gasped at the sight she found,

Athena in Azarious's arms, their face inches away from each other and Dante ready to rip someone to shreds,

'oh goodness,' Venus breathed.
