Summary
Book 2 of the Lotus Heart series Amethyst, daughter of the Crown Prince of Heaven, has always been a carefree girl. Growing up, her parents didn't want the pressures of the Heavenly Realm to affect their children's kindness. In turn, Amethyst, and her twin brother, Tyrian, are more like their mother. But cultivating as an immortal has never been easy. Demons used to run amuck across the three realms, but since the establishment of the demon royal family, the realms have been in peace. But being in peace, and accepting demons into society are two completely different things. When Amethyst comes across an injured demon prince, a fatal and star-crossed romance begins. Secrets can never be kept for long, and with the Lotus Heart still in existence, there's no telling who will this ill-fated love alive.
Prologue
The three realms:
Heaven, Mortal, and Demon.
A system as old as time itself. The Mortal Realm: Earth, was where the humans lived their short lives that could only be a century at most. The Heavenly Realm was more complicated. Made up of immortals who could live forever unless killed or met by their calamity. Within the Heavenly Realm, there were different areas; the Heavenly Palace held the Heavenly Realm's royalty where the Heavenly Emperor ruled over the Heavenly Realm, and worked with the other Realms and immortals to keep the Realms balanced.
Within the Heavenly Realm was also Floral Island to the south run by Floral Goddess Peony. Floral Island was only occupied by women. From the island, all the best spiritual plants and medicines were made. It was protected by a strong barrier and surrounded by unclaimed land that stretched into a forest that eventually led to the River of Forgetfulness: one of the barriers to the Demon Realm.
The Western, Eastern, Northern boarders had their own princes and princesses as well, but only in name alone. All the "royalty" from other areas were only for political reasons. There was only one Emperor and Empress to rule them all, and after the previous Empress attempted to kill the current Crown Princess Aivi, she was deposed. The Emperor of Heaven never promoted a new Empress after that, for fear they would be as power hungry as the first Empress.
Another empire within the Heavenly Realm was the Beast Lands run by the Fox Clan. Currently, the Fox Princess Enya was in charge of the Beast Lands, and she hated the Crown Prince of Heaven's family. She loved Crown Prince Yong before he married, and tried to work with the deposed Empress to get rid of Crown Princess Aivi, but she failed. Political tensions were high after the current Crown Princess Aivi married into the royal family. It wasn't because of Crown Princess Aivi herself, but because of the the Demon War that Crown Princess Aivi even participated in herself, a new hierarchy was created in order to keep peace between the realms.
The current royal family for the Demon Realm was also in name only. Once the Demon Royal Family was established, peace was made in the terms that only the Demon Royal Family were allowed to visit the other realms, mostly for meetings to be held. The immortals from the Heavenly Realm dealt with it, but only the Royal Family from the Heavenly Realm treated the demons who didn't make trouble as equals. The other immortals did not accept the demon race. They despised them and looked down upon the demon race, especially the Demon Royal Family. Anytime the royal family moved outside of the demon realm, they had to be cautious for attacks, but the Demon Realm itself had become more civilized.
Crown Princess Aivi was unique to begin with. Although originally under the guise of being the daughter of the fallen Northern General and having the spirit of a white lotus, Aivi was actually the reincarnation of Crown Prince Yong's only love who sacrificed herself in order to save Yong. Due to her selflessness and pure soul, when she was reincarnated, she was born with the Lotus Heart: an all powerful item that came from legends. The one who could possess the Lotus Heart could control the three realms. After Aivi's mortal body died, the Lotus Heart became her life source, with Crown Prince Yong concealing it and her identity by having his second older brother, Tase, adopt her until they could properly marry.
After so many hardships, Aivi and Yong were finally legally married after Aivi birthed his twins under highly auspicious signs. One boy and one girl, the twins were born with purple eyes and one petal each of the Lotus Heart, weakening Aivi. Prince Tyrian, the first born twin, was the more mature of the twins. He was calm and collected, an intellectual. Princess Amethyst, younger by a few minutes, was a free spirited girl who seemed to be weaker only because she didn't like to cultivate. Aivi wanted her children to grow up worry free, so she let her children play on Floral Island under the tutelage of Floral Goddess Peony given Crown Prince Yong's personal relationship with the kindhearted goddess. The only men allowed on Floral Island were the Crown Prince, and Tyrian. A carefree life was all Aivi wanted for her children, but they were fated to do, and be, so much more than simply carefree immortals.
