Chapter 6: Lucien… Reject Me

(Seraphina's POV)

I was taken to the hospital room where Cecilia lay on the bed. Her face was pale, her frame so delicate it seemed as though a gust of wind might scatter her. Yet, she had a striking head of fiery red hair—so bold, so at odds with her fragile appearance.

The moment she saw Lucien and me enter, her eyes reddened with tears. In a weak, almost coquettish voice, she called out, “Lucien…”

That one soft plea made Lucien's expression instantly melt into a tenderness I had never seen before. He strode quickly to her bedside, holding her hand as he murmured gently, “It’s okay. I’m here. Don’t be afraid.”

Watching this scene felt like a dagger to my heart.

Lucien turned his cold gaze on me, snapping, “Are you just going to stand there like a corpse? Do something!”

I was forced to lie down on another bed. A nurse wheeled over the blood transfusion equipment, her movements brisk and practiced.

When the thin needle pierced my vein, I flinched slightly but said nothing.

The crimson blood flowed steadily through the tube, entering Cecilia’s frail body.

Minutes dragged on, and with each passing moment, I felt myself growing weaker. My face turned ghostly pale, and an icy numbness seeped through my limbs. My fingertips grew so cold, they felt devoid of life.

Meanwhile, Cecilia seemed to be reborn. Color returned to her cheeks, and her lips flushed a healthy pink.

When the transfusion was over, I was utterly drained. My limbs were too weak to move, my entire body hollowed out.

Cecilia, on the other hand, sat up in Lucien’s arms, her delicate frame leaning against him. Tears glistened in her eyes as she murmured sweetly, “Lucien, I’m so sorry… It’s all because of me. Miss Quinn must have had such a hard time today…”

She looked every bit the picture of an innocent victim.

Lucien’s expression darkened as he listened. His brows furrowed, and he turned to me with unconcealed disgust in his eyes.

“Get out,” he said coldly, as though commanding an unruly dog.

Biting my lip, I forced myself to rise from the bed. My legs wobbled, and it took all my strength just to stand. Every step was agonizing, a searing pain that tore through me.

I wanted to speak, to beg him to help the Moonlace Pack.

But when I lifted my head and met his icy, indifferent gaze, the words caught in my throat.

He wouldn't help me.

If he cared, he wouldn’t have remained indifferent after learning the truth. He wouldn’t have used this situation to coerce me.

Even if I begged now, all I’d receive was further humiliation.

Why should I degrade myself any further?

My chest ached as though knives were carving into my heart, each slash deeper than the last.

At last, I understood.

There was no future for Lucien and me.

No matter how much I gave, how much blood I shed, or how much pain I endured, his heart would never stop for me—not even for a second.

Taking a deep breath, I swallowed the sobs threatening to escape my throat. Summoning the last shred of my courage, I steadied my trembling voice and spoke.

“Lucien… reject me.”

He frowned slightly, as though he hadn’t heard me.

I raised my gaze to meet his, no longer filled with desperation or pleading. All that remained in my eyes was a quiet, resolute desolation.

“I don’t want to be your Luna anymore.”
