Chapter 5: He Forced Me to Give His Lover a Blood Transfusion

(Seraphina’s POV)

Just as Lucien bared his fangs, his breath closing in on me, closer than ever before, a sudden phone ringtone broke the tension.

The melody was soft and wistful, carrying the sweetness of a passionate romance. It stood in stark contrast to the icy aura surrounding Lucien.

I opened my eyes abruptly, my heart sinking like a stone into a freezing abyss.

It was her ringtone—Cecilia Vale's. A ringtone Lucien had specially set for her. It seemed like the one thing he couldn’t bear in this lifetime was to miss any of her calls.

Panic overtook me. My eyes burned, tears threatening to spill. I abandoned all pride, choking out a quiet, desperate plea:

“Don’t answer it… Lucien… please don’t answer her call.”

I looked up at him, my gaze filled with hopelessness and humility.

But Lucien only glanced at me, and in that instant, the fleeting warmth in his eyes disappeared, replaced by his usual cold indifference. It was as though the tenderness I thought I had seen was nothing more than an illusion.

“What do you think you are?” he said, his voice cutting like ice.

Without hesitation, he shoved me aside. I stumbled, landing awkwardly at the edge of the bed like a discarded, pitiful creature.

Lucien stood, pulling out his phone and answering the call.

His voice softened immediately, impossibly gentle.

“Cecilia? What’s wrong?”

“Don’t worry, I’ll be there right away.”

Just a few simple words, but each one stabbed into my heart like a knife.

I bit my lip hard, wrapping my arms tightly around myself.

That tenderness, that care—it was never meant for me.

Even though I was his wife, his Luna, these three years of marriage hadn’t earned me even a fraction of his affection.

Lucien ended the call and, without missing a beat, grabbed my clothes and threw them at me. His tone was cold and impatient.

“Get dressed. You’re coming with me.”

I sat on the bed, clutching the blanket around me. My heart felt hollow, my gaze fixed on his tall, commanding figure. For a moment, I couldn’t bring myself to move.

Lucien noticed my hesitation and let out a scornful laugh. He looked down at me, his voice sharp and cutting as a blade.

“Cecilia is at the hospital. She needs a blood transfusion.”

A blood transfusion? For her, again?

A wave of humiliation and anger rose within me. Instinctively, I shook my head, my voice weak but resolute.

“I won’t go.”

Lucien’s eyes darkened, his brow arching slightly as a dangerous glint flickered in his gaze.

He stepped closer, one deliberate step at a time, until I was backed into a corner. His voice dropped, cold and menacing.

“You won’t go? Fine. Then your father and brother can prepare for the downfall of the Moonlace Pack.”

My body trembled violently, my hands and feet turning ice-cold.

“You know, don’t you? You knew what happened to my father and brother, and you chose to stand by and do nothing. Now you’re using it to threaten me?”

For a fleeting moment, a trace of guilt crossed Lucien’s face, but it vanished quickly, replaced by the same icy indifference.

“So, you’d better do as I say.”

He had me cornered, his gaze filled with mocking certainty, as if he’d already won.

I clenched my teeth, my nails digging into my palms.

After a long silence, I closed my eyes and answered in a hoarse, defeated whisper:

“I’ll go.”

Resigned, I got dressed and followed him out.

We arrived at the special hospital for werewolves. The white building gleamed under the sunlight, its brightness almost blinding.

I stood at the entrance, my feet feeling as heavy as lead.

I knew this blood transfusion was just the beginning.

Cecilia hadn’t awakened her wolf, and my blood contained special healing properties.

My blood could strengthen the pack and, if nourished long enough, could even help someone like Cecilia nurture her own wolf.

This was the real reason Lucien married me.

Not love. Not fate.

Just pure, calculated use.
